I went back to the hobby shop after work to see if they could get the truck running, and I just knew it would be something simple that would make me look stupid. All he did was fiddle with the high-speed mixture screw a bit. He turned it two turns out and the dumb truck ran fine. I was like, "Wait a minute! I must've done that exact same thing a billion times yesterday, and it never ran for me!" He just grinned and shrugged, the little punk. My truck must not like me :). So he ran it through most of the first tank of fuel, afterwhich I went home to try it myself. The good news is that I was able to keep it running. But now, something else. I feel so stupid for having problems with all these silly little things, but here goes: How the heck do you get the darn thing to move!? When he drove it, it seemed like all he did was rev it up a little bit and it automatically kicked into gear and took off (errr, sputtered off). But when I did the same thing at home, it just sat there and revved. So my annoying beginner question again is, how do you get it to kick into gear? Maybe I just didn't rev it enough, but I thought I was giving it quite a bit of throttle. Judging by the sound, at least as much throttle as he was giving it. So I didn't get to run it through the second tank of fuel, but also because my transmitter batteries got low and it started to rain anyway, so I don't feel that bad :). Seems like I'm getting there in baby steps....

Make sure that the reverse selector shaft is PUSHED IN all the way into the tranny. That means that the red switch on the transmitter is in the down position. It should engage right away as soon as you push the gas 1/4 to 1/2 throttle.

One time my friends Quake stopped running all of a sudden and when he gave it gas it just revved and didn't move. The problem was he didn't have a wheel tightened. So check and make sure everythings tight and ok.

If you're still in the break-in process its running too rich to go anywhere right now. As you begin to lean it out, it will achieve the RPM's required to engage the clutches and will start to move slowly. Take your time right now, this is the most important time to be carefull with your new engine.

What happened to my TMAXX when that happened to me was 3 of the 4 cap screws on the engine mount was gone! that messed up my pinion gear(correct?) and it didn't connect to my spur gear so thats why it just revved and not go anywhere. Just check everything is bolted up fine and tight. good luck.
