its a high pitch noise whenever i use the EZ start on my TMAXX. it sounds like a dentist's tool to clean your teeth, i think its the starter motor spinning but i am not sure. i checked it out like so many times and nothing seems to work. Can somebody try to troubleshoot this problem for me, locate what part is wrong or something.
Any help well be much appreciated.
thanks.
NiK.

If the engine doesn't turn over check the gears in the starter. You may have stressed them while the engine was flooded. My guess is that the gears are stripped.

and it could be that your one-way is gone , clean the one way and reinstall it , it should work.

While we're on the subject, is it pretty common for the gears in the EZ-Start to strip? I went outside to run my truck today to start the fine-tuning process, and as soon as I tried to start it, the white plastic gear in the EZ-Start stripped. I'm not too happy about it at all, which just adds one more thing to my reasons-why-I-maybe-shouldn't-have-bought-this-truck list, but I hope I can buy this gear seperately instead of buying the whole kit. BTW stockRacer, my EZ-Start made the exact noise you described - after my gear stripped :(. The engine was just starting to turn over too, darn it.

No the gears usually only strip after they have been straining, ie flooded engine or something making the engine hard to turn over. Traxxas sells the gears as a complete set so that the gears wear evenly. Here is the part number, #4576. The bearing part #4011 and it costs $15 at my LHS. The gear box(w/screws) is part#4575. I try to keep extra parts laying around just in case. When my gears stripped in the easy start I complained to traxxas and they sent me another set as a warranty item. It doesn't hurt to email them and ask.
