1st Send the ESC in to Traxxas to be replaced due to recall, that is probably the best upgrade to do right away.
2nd RPM arms, $10.95 a corner
3rd Ti turnbuckles
4th Ti suspension hindge pins
Check out the MAXX-IMUM Racing Performance article in the June issue of RCCA

What are you going to do with the truck. Are you going to race ,rock climb or beat it in the back yard? If money is no issure I would go with new motors and find a old Novak 828 ESC to handle the 14v's.

In what areas do you need more help/advise?
Pro-Line: Maxx Masher, Maxx Bow Tie or Step Pin
Some firm or low roll foam inserts
Stiffer Shock oil, I use 45wt the kit comes with 25 or 30wt.
Traxxas XX-Long Big Bore Shocks that are hard anodized and teflon coated.
Stiffer springs
Buy a lot of extra screws, nuts, and washers just in case. Keep your eyes on the screws that hold the shocks onto the A-Arms.
Higher torque steering servo
A high quality pair of at least 2000mAh batteries.
Motor cleaner and oil for the bushings.
Shock boots or the pit tip in the July issue to protect the shocks seals.
And now my brain is saying it is too late to think so if I think of anyting else I'll post it here. If you need more help and need it like yesturday email me.

For strength you could buy a good steering servo skid plate and aluminum under chassis componants.(Look on page 197 of the July issue of RCCA)
For power, You might want to stay with it stock for a bit as any upgrade will cost you $200.00 and up.
Super Rooster and 2 Good motors(Atomic Forces are great motors) $200.00
Try and stay away from the dual rooster system as the SR seems to be the better choice for less money.
BL Brushless motors, about $425.00 However you will find double the run times and near double the power, no brushes to wear out and minimum maintenance.(Consider this option)
Trinity mod motors, some have experienced melted endbells with these and your runtimes will drop.
Proline rear body posts, far better than stock or aluminum.
If you chose to stay with stock motors setup, 21 or 22 tooth pinions will give you nose bleed performance with a substantially higher top speed.

I would wait until Novak has their new ESC, but you could send the VX12 back. It may take a while to get it back.
Hey Clayton! You get your issue yet?
