Well i started out on a max st and i finally got fed up with it put a better engine in and eventually somld it well i now have enough money to purchase my tmaxx. I was wondering if there is any preliminary setup or modifiying i should do. I have some experience so i know break in and that stuff. Thanks, Pat

First remove the bafle from the stock pipe.
Get 45wt to 55wt shock oil to replace the relatively weak stock 30wt.
Get Titaium suspension hinge pins and turnbuckles.
Then flip the carb so that you can get to the low end needle.
Then get the RPM A-Arms for $10.95 a corner.
Put thread lock on all metal to metal screws.
Read and head the break in instructions.
Buy an extra one way bearing so you can use one while the other is soaking in denatured alcohol overnight after a few runs.
I would suggest getting a glow igniter because the blue wire just barely does the job.
You might want to keep an extra set of Ez-Start gears incase they strip.
I have done everything listed above except the Ti parts. I had ordered them a long time ago but my LHS keeps telling me they are on back order.

If I were you I would only get this truck if you are confident with nitro, I've got a T-maxx and it's great when I get it to run right, but I have had problems with it,two melted spur gears, so I got a robinson racing steel spur gear, it's alot better,I also had a broken piston, the thing can be a pain in the *** at the best of times, so be sure you really want one before you get one.

Get a throttle return spring!

Be patient, especially while breaking in your T. The internal clutches in the tranny cause it to "jerk" into gear..it may sit and keep engaging/disengaging. That will go away as the engine gets broken in.

If you're concerned about the one-way, you can drill a small hole right in the middle of the "R" in TRX. Use some HPI Nitro Cleaner and shoot it in the hole. I put a small drain hole in the bottom of the casing as well, to allow the goop to drain out. If the bearing slips, a quick blast brings it right back! :D I only used this on the stock engine..didn't do it to the Hypers.
