ones a nitro and ones electric. they are gonna be entirely different animals. first decide whether or not u want an electric MT or a nitro mt. electric- slow but gobs of torque for pulling and rockcrawling. Nitro. super fast but less torque so u cant rockcrawl or pull too much

Ok, let me just ad a little something to dp's answer, electric mt is slower then a nitro mt, not slow. Electric does have twice the accel of nitro mt's and more torgue.
And ofcourse the stock speed of the Emaxx is around 25 mph but can be upgraded to go much faster. Some guys claim 45 mph in there e maxx's. When the bushless come out from novak then there will be some insale speed.

And if you are trying to pick between electric and gas, think about where you want to use it. If you want to use it indoors to torment the cat, then go electric. If you want to use it in your neighborhood, granny next door would prefer electric. With electric you don't need to buy fuel and it is easier to maintain for beginners.
On the other hand, gas sounds so cool. Gas can go in any terrain, just protect your electrics with some sorta rubber. Gas fumes are fun to sniff. And it will usually have a higher top speed.

Hey! If you are a beginner, I would recommend that you go with an electric truck. The E-MAXX would be a nice car:It goes fast (I think, because other people would say that it is slow) and has a lot of power, but If you want to upgrade those motors right away or do a lot of stuff with it, it will cost a bunch of money! Unlike the E-MAXX, the electric Stampede only has one motor and is an awsome truck also. You need to be specific. Just edit your message above and put exaclty where you think you would be racing, or just screwing around, and lots of details so people can help you out at their best!

Hi I was wondering how much it costs to upgrade the E-maxx? And how do you do it?

Dont get me wrong, There its not manditory to upgrade the stock kit, it works great box stock. But what im planning on doing is waiting for The novak brushless motor and new esc combo. Novak says One motor should be more power and top end then the stock set up. So ya im thinking Two for insane 70 mph runs with dual two turn single wind motors.
But thats just me, and that will most likly cost me around 250$. Lots of people are going with a novak super rooster esc and two 19 turn speed gems motors. that will run you around 160$ and you will have twice the run time as stock better throthle response and about the same top end and low end power, and thats on one six cell.
Its all up to you, but i say for now get an emaxx run it stock till your really ready to put some cash into it.

You're also comparing two trucks that are very different as far as cost is concerned too. A rtr emaxx will cost around $320 whereas a monster pirate all said and done is more like $600 or so depending on what engine and radio you choose. I have a monster pirate and i love it, but if you're a beginner i'd go with the emaxx if i were you. Then save your money and either upgrade your emaxx or switch over to nitro when you're ready. good luck!
