I have only had my MAXX for a couple of days and I have stripped the front ring gear. (the big gear in the front diff housing) Does anyone know if there are any stronger gears out there? I want to add the Monster Pirate tires later, but if I stripped this gear with the stock tires, I am sure they won't hold up long the bigger tires.

Is this a common problem with the T-maxx?

That's wierd. Try calling Traxxas and see if they'll send you some gears. A friend of mine has a T-Maxx and has never had problems with the diff gears.

Some people say the cup is half empty.
I say the cup is twice as big as it needs to be.

The gears are pretty good. They are beakable though. If the clutch bell gear connection isn't adjusted correctly it can be a problem. You want to get them straight, and as tight as you can, but where they still spin freely. A warn gear, having the spur gear adjustment too tight, or revving the engine when the truck is stuck can be contributors to breaking these gears.

There are metal gears available, but they are heavier and may cause shifting problems, and I'd personally rather have the spur gear break than bust tranny gears, that are harder to get to!
