Unless you made some gearing changes there is no way a T-Maxx will do 50. You would have to change the clutchbell to at least a 25t.

Go get a radar test.

Man 50mph I sure would like to see that. I have a Quake and I took it out on the DAN RYAN Expressway in Chicago. I drove it on the shoulder lane but still kept up with the other traffic.Have any of you ever been on the DAN RYAN. I would say on average the other motorists go like 85-90+. I use a NovaRossi R-1 it has 43000rpm and like 3hp. It is pretty neat passing a Hyundai on a highway.
Have you tried going 50 in reverse with your T-maxx?That would be cool.

i think the guys at rc car went for a speed run in *** forward postion. lol. they didnt say how fast though. it real hairy though. cuz yur sterring is at the back.

my traxxas rustler goes about 40. and my bros 12 year old futaba fx10 buggy goes 45. (i have a trinity speed gems 2 garnet, and novak fusion, and trinity 2400 batts. i use the same motor for both cars. and same speed control. i just swithc em deoending on which car i wanna drive) its a little slower now, cuz my motor needs new springs, and truin and stuff.

i hope to get a t-maxx this year after x-mas, and i have set up $3000 worth of upgrades for it. it will take me like 10 years to get em all, bu hey, its worth it!!!!!!!! hopefully we can try for ummmmmm 60????? maybe 65? i want to put in a .21, but i dont want the new era chassis for it. i want to use gpm chassis and suspension parts and stuff. so i htink im screewed.

Ok, Traxxas claims that their Nitro 4-Tec does 50. So, I want to see a video of your T-Maxx hangin with a Nitro 4-Tec. My challenge to you is to show us.

It is posts like this that frustrate me folks. People claiming a bunch of crock!!

Mathematicall if you took the acclaimed rpm range of a Picco .15 and the gear ratio of a T-maxx's second gear you can arrive at the tires rpm. Now, given that rpm you can arrive at how many feet per second mister 50 mph T-Maxx achieves. All you have to do is convert that ft/sec ratio into miles/hour and voila!

Bull!!!!

UH wouldnt you also need the gear ratio of the F / R diffs ? The way you are saying to figure it is for a direct drive car . Oh and tire circumference . It is starting to get confusing .
Maxxwrencher an easy way to do this .
You and your friend mark 2 lines 100 feet apart . Start say 200 feet from the first line use the same distance on each run , You drive , have your friend with a stopwatch mark down the time it takes you to go fron one line to the other . Do this 10 times , post your times here and we can figure your avg speed . BE HONEST

Quake&Shake,
You are crazy to drive the r/c on the Dan Ryan! Very cool though! As for the 50+ argument i'd say the time to go a known distance is the best way like you said, RxT=D so Rate=Distance/Time. Let's see those numbers maxxwrencher! Maybe your T-Maxx is broken from driving it at 50+??? They sell a speedchecker at Play it again Sports for about $100 in case any of you are interested.

I can honestly lay a claim that my HPI Nitro2 has gone 110 MPH. That and my buddies Nitro2 was right there alongside it.

But then again those things and everything else loaded into my truck was going 110 down the freeway!! Hey that means that soda in the cupholder was going 110 doesnt it? http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Good thing I have my high boots on. The BS is getting thick.

There is no way on this earth that Nitro Quake did 90 or even 70 for that matter. Don't you think that if it could top 50 it would be heralded by RCCA, and at least DURATRAX? Heck that is the bench mark for fast RTR, and every car that does it has huge ads that proclaim it. Hank tested his on the website and he said it did 40 at max speed, which on these trucks seems like 90.

Second I drive on that highway for business a few times and folks do 70 tops, maybe 75 but not much more. You are exaggerating a little my friend. If folks were doing 90 all the time the State patrol would put speed traps all over it, big city or not.

And the traffic is so thick how did you pull it off without getting arrested, how did you start the truck off without stopping and getting run over, how did you stay in view of the truck, how did you get it when it stopped? Please do tell.

I doubt any stock RTR trucks do anywhere near fifty. Yes they seem to be doing fifty, and yes they seem to be going as fast as the traffic but they aren't. It has to do with your perspective and where you are in relation to traffic. Heck run in the right way and have somebody watch, it looks like you are almost keeping up, but nobody says they can run at even 25 mph.

Sorry to burst the bubble but you guys get alittle carried away with these tall tales.

i'm sure some hopped up stuff can do 50mph, but not much, and most don't have the room or radio range. When RCCA ran their speed tests on a DUAL engined USA-1 they needed an abandoned air field, and alomst ran out of radio room.

And as for the radar runs, those can easily be fudged and incorrect. Those 100 dollar units are not very accurate, and not very consistent. WE bought one for the snowmobile drags and it was so inconsistent we now use one doanted by the police, and it is very consistent. On an object as small as an R/C it is almost impossible to get accurate readings. Besides the fact that R/C have low reflectivity. Police aim at the license plates of cars becuase they are highly reflective, and made of metal. At the snowmobile runs they put small reflective tags on the front so we have something to aim at for consistency.

I did contact DURATRAX and they flew me over to the RCCA headquarters I will be in the March issue of RCCA with a 15 page intereview and photos of my Quake. Me and a few RCCA staff members flew back to Chicago did some shots of the Quake on the DAN RYAN.
I also will have my truck on the front cover. The photo will be of my QUAKE climbing half way up the SEARS TOWER. On the back cover there will be my QUAKE on top of the SEARS TOWER Let me thank the people at DURATRAX once again for that AWESOME experience. And for the lifetime supply of free future models that they come out with. They also gave me a prototype model of the Quake. It turned out to cost too much to mass manufacture. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
