View Full Version : From a T-Maxx to a Stampede?

Hello to all in MT land!

I have a 30 x 50 dirt track in my backyard that I mostly run my RC10 GT on. I also have a T-Maxx but I can't seem to get more than 4 or 5 laps out of it without some kind of breakage  It's heavy and when it cartwheels off bumps and jumps,... BAD things happen. I've also had a lot of problems with my MIP CVD's - the pins keep coming out. I've fixed that problem (shrink wrap) but I'm just downright irritated with the Maxx ;)

My brother in-law has a mostly stock Maxx and we have hours of fun with the thing (unlike my $1500 dollar Maxx). I've been thinking about starting over with a brand new truck and not dumping all my money into it and I think the Nitro Stampede might be a better choice than the Maxx.

99.9 percent of the time I will only be running it on my track and I thought a Stampede would be a little more quick and nimble than the Maxx. My guess is that for all-around bashing, the Maxx is king but for my application the Stampede might win the "fun factor" contest.

What do you all think? I would really like some comments and advice from folks who have owned both trucks,... or at least driven both since I've never driven a Stampede.

thanks to all in advance
Jay

Sounds like you might benefit from slamming your T-Maxx. Set the suspension so the arms are parallel with the ground. Do you have sway bars? Those help a lot to keep flipping in the corners to a minimum.

You say you've already got a GT so I'm not so sure a Stampede would be much more fun than that.

grandmasterofpool,

Thanks for the reply but my Maxx is a lot of fun on my track just how it is (all $1500 worth  ) but the thing just breaks a lot and I'm just basically sick of it. I'm not, in any way looking for a vehicle that will handle as well as my GT (are there any? ;) ), my freinds and I just enjoy running MT's on my track as well as stadium trucks,... too much of the same thing gets boring.

Like I said, I'm thinking of starting over. I could get a new Maxx (maybe), an Ofna Monster Pirate (doubt it) or a Stampede (possibly). I plan to leave this vehicle basically stock and just have some fun with it.

I would really like some input on whether a Stampede would be a good choice over the T-Maxx in my situation.

thanks
Jay

IMO once you go 4WD with a MT you can never go back. I'd say check out the NQ, MP, or maybe wait for the GS MT to come out.

A Stampede, would however, still be fun and cheaper to fix.

If you've never had a .21 nitro then you're missing out :D
