need help ...put trinity aluminum fuel cap on tmaxx it started to blow lots of smoke out of the fuel cap and started to drive very fast and make a squeeling noise when i finally got it stopped i noticed the main plastic gear all the teeth missing..thing would not restart after that, also any tuning secrets? very moody runs good for a week then wont start other days....love the tmaxx....thanks

It is normal for a TRX engine needing to be fine tuned from day to day. The gear getting stripped like that could be from the engine slipping in its mount or just bad gear meshing. The later is most likely the case. As far as the engine blowing smoke out of the fuel cap and running really fast it sounds like it leaned out, probably caused by a bad seal at the new cap. And it may have shut down after overheating from the lean condition. You may have tore up the piston and sleeve. I'd check out the engine real well before trying to force it to start. If the engine is still good and you have some extra cash laying around try to find an OS rotary carb and replace the TRX stock carb. The OS carbs seem to hold a tune a little better than the TRX.
