Well, I got the fs 40s-c fitted with clutch and bolted to the chassis, throttle linkage worked out and in place. I am trying to come up with an exhaust system. Does any one have any part #'s for any manifolds that will fit the OS 40s. I have a couple items ordered, but I dont know if I can use them or not, Ill Have to see if I can make them work somehow.any way, I am getting closer. Oh, and I only had to buy a beecrank for the throttle linkage. I used the flywheel,clutch, collet,and engine mounts that came with the kit! How bout That? Who would have thought it would be that easy? TALKTOYEZ SOON

deadcell since 4 strokes dont need tuned pipes, heat up any manifold you have a bent it to fit, attach any pipe you want, it wont matter much

I ran the engine for a few tanks today with a cobbled up exhaust sys. it idles flawlessly, still verry rich.Exhaust parts should come any day.
Keep it between the ditches!

hello folks. Inow have the MP fitted with radio and servos. I still havent recieved my exhaust stuff, maybe tomorrow. I cant wait to give it a trial run I may try it today with this open header I have cobbled on to it.

hey, just put a long tube onto the header and stick it out the back of you MT, since 4 strokers dont need pipes just do that for a realistic look and since there is no muffler to create power-robbing back pressure, you will have one powerful engine. (and somewhat loud) but quieter than what you are doing right now with just the header. you can also crazy glue a small, semi-tightly packed chunk of fiberglass insulation into the tail pipe to muffle the sound even more and not lose any power.just pack it loose enough so exhaust can freely pass through.

Hi deadcell can you please help me with some qusetins about building a 4 stroke M.P.? Do yo use the stock flywheel and clutch? Also are you using the two speed trans, what gearing are you using as well.? Was there a kit you bought and can you supply me with the manufactures name as so I can start my project. I would appreciate the help Jerry.By the way what type of speeds are you seeing with the 4 stroke?

whats up guys?I just finished getting the exhaust details worked out, and now it is ready to start trying it to see what I need to do to the gearing and clutch. I am using single speed as I am not out to make a high speed racer, but a verry strong pulling Monster that will eat hills for breakfast.I used the kit clutch in my project, however the collet that comes in the kit is something near 7mm id and the crank in the fs 40s-c is 8mm. I removed the crankshaft from the engine and chucked it into my lathe and with a small rotary grinder mounted in the tool holder, I turned the crank down to fit the kit collet which let me use the kit flywheel and clutch components.I used the kit mounts, but you have to slide the engine as far rearward as the mounts will allow, but fit it did! a bellcrank throttle linkage was required to solve the newly positioned carb. the exhaust I came up with required the lathe again to make an adapter that let me use a header and silencer that fits the fs 40s airplane engine. The exhaust port on these engines have a female thread that IS NOT common in the hardware store.the header that fits the fs40 airplane eng is approx 10mm od at the threads, and the fs40 car engine measures approx 11mm at the thread, so as you can see, it took a little home brewing. I managed to duplicate the thread close enough that I was able to make an adapter that had the correct thread on one end to fit the engine, and the other end I made 1/8th pipe thread. and then cut 1/8th pipe thread on one end of the header that I found that comes with the fs40 airplane engine. The other end of the header had the correct thread to fit the silencer that fit the fs48s.It looks pretty good and purrs like a kitten, however I am still lookig for a different sounding muffler. I am looking forward to burning a little fuel in it. I did not spend an excessive amount of money on the engine transplant, but I do have the advantage of having a few tools to make and modify parts.I think some guys are doing it with the stuff that comes in a four stroke fitting kit fir Kyosho cars, but I dont Know anything about that, except that it is a kinda expensive kit. seems like around $180 I cant recall, anyway, It scared me off of that route.

I have a buddy that helped me learn to fly RC and he had a Saito 4 stroke, I think it was a .91, but it was much Quieter and realistic sounding. He may still have a muffler, I think the bird went down hard and destroyed the entire thing engine and all!!I wish it would dry up outside. It is pretty wet Here in East Tennessee.

just be carful of what exhaust you use, the engine will provide the power you want,no doubt about that,but the the quieter the muffler, the more power you waste, but on the other hand the less restriction you have in the muffler, you have a lot more noise on hand. if you want to eat hills for breakfast, than give that truck the size stomach it deserves, a nice low gear ratio.

my monster truck has 15.92:1 overall ratio, that works fine for me

This thing is pretty cool, I used some 5 by 8 bearings and was able to use HPI clutch bells to alter the gearing. an 11 tooth bell will really make this thing "git" up the hill!! Awesome power.
