Well running into a car tire at full speed is very damaging to the bulks, bumper mounts, and shock tower. but i would never do that :D
Go ahead and buy the RPM A-Arms. if they break they will replace them for free.

My shock tower broke off when my tmaxx ran otherneath a low truck.Lucky thing it wasn't aluminum...but other then that the tmaxx is pretty durable but should be more durable with some hop-ups

My brother and me both got one and they are remarkable. I am a pretty serious 8th scale buggy and 10th truck guy and I play with my t-maxx more than both of my racing rides. We take our maxx's out to the race track and have a little sibling competition. We really pound them hard trying to make every double and triple. Between the two of us we have not had many breaks. We popped the shock caps on a couple of shocks and broke two shock towers, but we were doing some intense jumps trying to race one another. If I treated my high dollar stuff half as hard as my maxx I would never be able to race them because they would be waiting on parts all the time. Unless you plan on competing the maxx is the perfect play toy. Even if you want to run in a local maxx class you still have to start with a stock one to begin with.

the only thing i broke iz a front shock tower when i broke the recever anteni and didn't no it and it flew off a 2 1/2 yard drop off, full throttle, smaked right into the pavement of my road, and kept on going down into the woods, it didn't stop until it hit a tree. i didn't realize it broke until i waz in florida becase the plastic only broke in one place.

Wow guys thats not bad!! I have had my T-Maxx for about a year now and in the last 7-9 months I have "had" to upgrade my truck afew times. The first thing to brake on my truck was the rear skid plate, that happened the first day I got it. I ripped it right off coming off a make shift jump that had a piece of metal on it and after awhile it caught the skid and ripped it off. so i ran without the skid for awile and then noticed my bulkheads were twisting. So I took the metal brace under the front skid and put it on the rear end. Then a week later I ripped my rear bulkheads completely off my truck, I sorta put it back together and that was good for awhile, because I had to keep making sure the screws were tight. Then I was cruising around and I found a cool jump near a POLE......I caught the front right wheel and ripped the front bulkheads from the chassis. Well now I have both Front and rear bulkheads, attached in a funny manner (not a pleasant sight to see)and the front one are moving with the steering. It worked until I broke my gas tank and I had to resort to the tank out of my nitro hawk after awile I could not start it??? GEEEZZZZ MAN!!! I only ran 3/4 of a gallon through it!?? So now it is four months later after it has been sitting around for that long I got my first batch of parts. Powerline Bulkheads front and back, RRP spur gear, a new fuel tank and air filter. and a spool. I also got a cv-x .15 to replace the stock motor. I was great for 2 DAYS!!! and then the motor quit because I tried to put a boost bottle on it. (I KNOW, I KNOW!! BOOST BOTTLES SUCK!! DON'T BOTHER WITH THEM!). I then bought some maxx mashers and another spool for the FRONT!!! some CVD'S a new TRX PRO .15 which is still good to this day. I also bought a stinger kit and a MIP flywheel. I bought the last diff gear set I have to buy. it is a RRP hardened steel gear set. I will buy another set when they come out with heli-cut gears, which is much stronger than than the straight cut gears. I had to buy two new CVD'S because they twist where they enter the drive cup.I also have a setof powerline lower braces which are scratch and gouged just abit near the rear skid plate. I am now on my fourth gas tank which has a aluminum gas cap I had a trinity skid also but I already trashed that thing same with hi-tec 615Mg steering servo and I also broke numerous tranny parts including two one-way bearings in the two speed mechanism. I BROKE ALL THOSE TRANNY PARTS WITH A SECOND NEW STOCK TRX-PRO AND A 18 TOOTH CLUTCH BELL. I had to replace both shock towers with Dynamite red aluminum parts. I also finally replaced my second set of broken stock skids with those made from Adrenaline R/C accessories now that I have told you PART of my story, all that left to change is the front diff gears, shocks tranny case and gear boxes and supports. I want aluminum radio and battery boxxes and I need anew brake system I will switch to RRP products for that and I can't forget that I also have RPM stable maxx Clawz rims with NQ tires mounted to them and I also need some new front bulkheads cause I was smashing (I am serious!!) rocks with it. I would also like a .21 for it so I can figure out how to make it go 50MPH. So thats it for now and I will keep you informed on what I am doing. I am also the only T-maxx owner in my City and the only NPEDE owner. My Npede is alot of fun too and I spent a bunch of money on it too. Rims tires body and all the good stuff. it is worth about 1000 canadian bucks and my maxx is worth about 3500 buck canadian. but any ways this should entertain you for awhile and I can't forget that I also have a Ford Excursion body which is dark blue wit silver racing stripes and an unpainted 50's chevy panel van body which looks like grave digger but it has windows all the way around.
KEEP you posted just remind me in a couple of days cause I do forget sometimes.
Later guys!!! :) :( :D

The only thing I broke besides spurs (got a steal one now) was the rear bulk. I was racing and during the second qualifier I landed on the tail (but that was once of about 8 times) Then I started handling funny. Found out that the skid plate loosened which twisted the bulks (even though I have RPM Bulkhead Braces) and snapped them at the bumper area. I put a alluminum skid and I haven't had a problem yet.

Smitty, it isn't nice to steal spur gears. :D Just joking with you. T-Maxx is strong and it doesn't break too easily. The only time my T has broke is if I oops, or if I was pushing the truck a little bit too hard.

I've had a tmaxx for like 9 months or so, the only thing i managed to break was a diff set at a construction site, the antenna the first time I flipped it, and the front and rear body mounts from doing flips in the snow. But luckily my dads a machinist and whatever I broke he just made in aluminum :p

Sorry Smitty, I just couldn't resist it. My wife says that sarcasim is inbedded into my DNA. Anyone that knows my dad and me would most likely agree with her. :D
I really want to get an E-Maxx to compliment my T-maxx. This way I could drive at night or during the day.

I just posted some videos of our T-Maxx bashing from last week-end. I also included some pics of the damage to the front part of his Tmaxx, taken from my last jump of the day. Just to show you what the T-Maxx can take !!!

I've had my t-maxx for about 3 or 4 months now and i bought it to beat on it. I built a gt to race and still wanted a nitro truck to "play" with and after the first 5 min of running the truck it was now my main truck. The only thing that I have broken was my steering servo and front body mounts. The way that it happened was at my brothers wedding and happened to come upon a skateboard park with a 5ft spine ramp in the middle with 1/4 pipes on both ends. Well to make a long story short too fast too big of a ramp and heavy truck landing on pavement nose down. Oh well servo needed to be upgraded any way!!!!!

Did you really need to tell us that was the last jump of the day? Like you could have jumped it again lol. I've not broken too many parts but I wish I could keep those shock caps on. I've got this one big hill thats just irresistable. But thats what they're made for and shock oil is cheap.

maxx t maxx and weric,
I got my speedmart from Tower today and the Big bore set for the Maxx trucks are on sale for $79,99 down from $99.99! These shocks have aluminum caps, teflon coated pistons and work ultra smmmooooth. Just thought you might like to know.
My T-Maxx is awesome and rarely breaks. Like I said before, if it breaks it is usually attributed to my "I wonder how T-Maxx would live through this..." :D

We've had our E-Maxx for about a month. :D This is or first R/C and my only experience is with my Jeep's. I ran it like a wild man on fire. I have jumped it 5-6 feet in the air, rolled it a number of times, twice on pavement at full speed, and crashed it down a mountain. Did I mention we live on Camelback Mountain, a ski resort?
As far as carnage, somewhere along the line on the first day I lost a screw in the front skid plate. The next day I ran it and after two full speed flips on the road, I must have cracked the front bulkhead, because a little tap on the front bumper later, and I was done. I replaced the skid plates front and back with aluminum, new aluminum front GPM Bulkead and bulkead braces. Since these mods, (the damage was definitely my fault, I was savage! ) I have thrown it at everything this mountain has, and it just eats it up! JUST BUY IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!
The end result of buying this truck is that we are planning on opening an R/C park in the poconos over the winter. We would appreciate any and all help! Thanks, FRED & DEANA :)

Only things I've replaced is the ring and pinion gears, two ez-start motors and two front skid plate. I did manage to hit a concrete garden edger at full speed. Only thing that broke was the very front of the front skid plate and a starter motor. I hit hard enough that the endbell on the starter motor shot completely off the motor. Suprisingly, thats all that broke.

I got a T-Maxx as my first nitro vehicle, and am loving it. I have ttripped a spur gear, and broke the back body mounts right off, but other than that, nothing has really happened to it. They sure can take a beating. Roll it, flip it, run into stuff, anything, I know I'm not regretting it.

They are both bullet proof if you just use caution then problems will be few but if you like to run it like you didn't buy it well then it's on you but clearly the E-Maxx is easier to run just get it and watch yourTMaxx people fuel it over heat it flip it and the T will turn off upside down so you have to run to tip it on all fours yahda yahda yahda so get the E- Maxx and a good charger about 14 battery packs 2 good chargers 3000 NI MH run the car to 29 MPH stock I have this setup and many cars but the E takes gives up the most fun I play over 2 hrs. straight on 14 battery packs.

I worked at a hobby store, the only people who seem not to be breaking them were the people not using them.
1 runaway into a curb can take out the front bulks..
They are a great truck, spare parts list will include however
Bullk heads, rear tie rods, body posts and shock towers.
1 set diff gears..
You will enjoy them because they can be very exciting to run..
They are not indestrucible however, consider slamming your real car into a wall at 30mph... these are no different...

I have both and e-maxx and t-maxx... if you don't jump the crap out of them..
http://members.home.net/sixvi6-camaro/bashin_04.jpg
or crash it into something at full speed there should not be too many problems.. before I started to get crazy jumpin mine.. I never broke anything.. but these trucks jump with such ease its just really tempting and soo much fun to do! I've broken tranny parts, bulks, arms, stock skids, alum skids, and shock towers.. but that was all from landing wrong or runnign into things at full speed which is something that no RC will stand up to. After it broke I upgraded to better and stronger hop ups.. so I think if they are used for what they were designed to do.. driving off road and small jumps a few feet in the air.. they will be durable and the fun part to me is the huge aftermarket.. there are so many cool hop ups out there if something does break.. almost anything at all.. there is something better to upgrade it to that will most likley be tough as nails. People knock the Maxx trucks because there are so many out there but I can almost guarantee you that none of the trucks you will find anywhere will be the same because there are so many aftermarket parts to choose from..
Blstc Stupidity
10-07-2001, 02:46 PM
This is why they break.
If you arent jumping them like that, chances are you arent having much fun.. :)
