ok i made a deal with my parents that if i read 10 chapter books in one month that i could get a monster truck. they said thats fine. now the reading will get done. guaranteed! my question is. which monster truck? t-maxx or e-maxx? i already have all the electric stuff for an e-maxx but if i want i can get a nitro powered t-maxx! i have heard about a duratrax nitro starter kit. how much is this and what does it include? all replies will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I can tell you that the Tmaxx is very durable but it was a pain trying to get the nitro motor running very well, it is my first nitro so I have no XP in nitro but I love it. It also can be costly so as he asked what kind of money do you have to spend, emaxx runs from the get go tmaxx needs a little more time Ive seen the emaxx and it rips but I personally like the sound and smell of the Tmaxx

ok, so are we looking at reliability here? i mean i'm a patient guy and i would love to have a nitro, but if its that much of a pain just to get it going i dont wanna deal with it. i am mainly going with nitro because you get alot longer run times. i know about engine break in and all this stuff but how much of a pain is it to get the engine running well? and how often and how reliable is nitro?

Nitro is reliable if you know how to tune it. I dont suggest it because you normally have to sink a bunch of money into it. Also since you havent had a nitro before the truck will be spending alot of time on ur work bench. You normally have to tune a nitro engine slightly every time you start it. Also you'll need to buy fuel maybe $25 every month to 2 monthes depending on how much you use. $25 will buy you a gallon of fuel which i used in a month or so. If i had a choice to buy a monster truck i'd buy a Juggernaut, Thats just me. I love the scale, and nice looks of the juggernaut and clod which i oun a clod somthing to consider. But i'd say go with the E-maxx

Get the E-Maxx and then read 10 more books next month in return for a modeltech BL system :D

But seriously, if you already know electics you may have more fun with the E-Maxx. Nitros are very rewarding when they are running great though.

I've heard the TRX is a little hard to tune. Maybe you could find a used one that needs an engine and get something nice and easy to tune like an O.S.

I wood go with the e-maxx. i had just bought a t-maxx az my 1st nitro r/c and if i had it to do all over again i would have gone with the t-maxx due to the price. if you don't have a job or don't like to spend your cash
(like me :D ) i wood go eletric

Honest question: how old are you, and what kind of budget do you think you will have every month to spend? I'm a 30 year old married man with a good job, and to be honest, I've stayed electric because of the cost. E-Maxxes are quicker than T-Maxxes, though they don't have the same top-end speed (about 3-5mph slower). But that's really not much. I'd say to go with the E-Maxx.
