Hey alot of posts from michigan racers. Anyone else from michigan only get like a few monthes a year racing in cause of the snow in the winters, rain in the spring, humidity in the summer( some cars act up in humidity) and leaves all over your track in the fall? Are there any on road indoors tracks in lower michigan? Or any good onroad tires for ice and snow? I live on a lake it it would be funny to try and race around on the frozen ice. Well thanks for your input.

where at? im in owosso. i have an offroad electric traxxas rustler. if u bought some crappy tires, and glued small metal shavings of some sort, on the inside so they poke out, u could probly try it. it would be pretyy sweet to see that!! just make sure the ice is really really solid and thick. cuz if u get stranded, u will have to go get the car!!
is it nitro or electric?

There is an indoor facility over here in Grand Rapids. They are supposed to start running indoors later this month. It think that the schedule is oval saturday afternoon, Stadium saturday evening, and then onroad Sunday. E-Mail me if you want any further info.

I"m a 13 year old guy from Howell MI. If your searching for a good indoor off-road track to race on in the winter, i got a great track for you. It's in Washtinaw county in the washtinaw fair grounds. Hobby Town USA and Ryders hobby take turns renting out the building every other weekend on a saturday. if you want to get more info on this track, and how to get there, e-mail me, your reply would be greatly appriciated. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

There is a really good on - road carpet track at Larry ' s Hobbies in Sterling Heights , it is about an hour from Flint .
The offroad track at the Washtenaw County Club in Ann Arbor is awesome ! I raced there every week they ran last year , and it was one of the biggest off road tracks I have ever seen , with a back straight over 100 feet long ! They just need to do some ' real ' grooming as the year goes on . The track started off great and ended up like a plowed field by the end of the season . Otherwise , a first class track .
There is also an onroad carpet track in Jackson , called R . A . C . E Inc . Pretty good if you don ' t mind dripping ceilings !

Washtenaw R/C puts up an indoor off-road track in the winter at the Washtenaw County Fair Grounds just south of Ann Arbor.
As for ice racing stick thumb tacks from the inside of a on-road tire and then trim off some of the point. If u don't trim off the point the spike will just bend and be useless.

I'm from Redford, Mi which is 10min from Detroit. Can't say theres much track exitment here except for on Saturdays at Ryders Hobbie in Livonia. As for snow tires, I made a mean set of chains for my MAX BX. I also replaced the front tires with some homemade skis.

NaturallyNitro - does the Riders in Livonia have indoor races during the winter? If they do, what classes do they run?

Sorry Top End, they don't do indoor. On their outdoor, they run all classes except anything bigger than 1/8 scale

I live in Ypsilanti, and have never heard of the track in Ann Arbor that several of you have mentioned. I've been up the the local Riders Hobby on Carpenter rd. and asked them about what tracks are around, and they've never mentioned that track.
I'm just getting back into RC racing, trying out the sedan class, but would like to get another buggy and race right here in A2. Is there a phone number to contact to maybe find out some more about this track and when they race?
Any information is appreciated.. thanks

Mustangz -
The track is listed in the RCCA track directory, but here is the info anyway:
Washtenaw R/C Raceway
Ypsilanti, MI. 48198
contact: Jim Rosseau at 734-395-5048
I called him a few weeks ago, said that racing is going to start in November, will be held every other saturday and probably start on the 11th(?). I raced there last year, it was an awesome track! The back straight was about 100 feet long, and real dirt, none of this hard as pavement baloney the 'pros' race on. Riders and Hobby Shack in Ann Arbor take turns running the races. $10 per entry.
Hopefully see ya there! I'll be running a T2 and Cat2000.

I'm not far from Jackson, between it and Battle Creek.
I buy all my gas from JT Hobby in Battle Creek. They have a couple outdoor tracks too, one paved, and the other dirt.

Hey guys I just wanted to let you know. I have a Outdoor Offroad Track I opened up last July, in Clio Michigan. I am getting ready to move into a new house and build a new track there. But until the new track is open we will be running at this track. If anybody is interested you can check out the site. http://www.midmichiganrc.com/ The Forum has most of the info for now. I am looking for someone to help me work on the site, so sorry for it being unorganized. Any questions just ask or drop me and email.
Thanks for looking, John

Existing card holders from last year NEED to renew their card By April 30th to continue their Discounts from Mid-Michigan Coin & Hobby. Applications will be taken at the Hobby Shop. We are going to be putting a Cap on the number of cards given out to the first 60 applications received. So get your Cards A.S.A.P.
The price is as follows:

$45 for a Family (Family of 4 Max.) Immediate family only!!! No Cousins Aunts, Uncles, ETC.
Discounts with these cards are as follows:

NON-Card holders prices are as follows:

There is a few PPL that are Grandfathered in their Preferred Card prices, Due to their early subscription to the race track. Most PPL know who they are and the list of those are at the hobby shop.
For the time being we are going to be holding a few races and practices here at the old track. We are going to do a little addition to the track for now until the new track is built. Our goal is to have our first race on May 6th but with the way the weather is, we just might have some races sooner. I will keep everyone posted if we do!!!
Any further questions feel free to call Kevin 810-564-2646
