Hey Bob, where did you learn to airbrush, did you learn airbrushing first on r/c car bodies? or doing something else? what kind of airbrush do you use and what kind of paint at what psi and how much do you thin it? will you marry me? no just kidding but your skills kick butt!

Speed,
Thanks for the kind words...The short answer is that I use an Aztec 470 airbrush and Parma Faskolor for most of my work at 35-40psi. I usually thin to around the consistency of milk depending on the color or effect i need.
I sometimes supplement my colors with Createx and I just got into The RC Acryls from Pactra.
The long answer:
Actually it's funny- I remember paying this guy at the local hobby shop $20 to paint my first nitro truck, some guy named Greg Vogel. After that, I started messing around with cans and then got an Aztec airbrush. I learned a lot from Richard "motion graphics" Muise's RC Car Painting and Finishing book (which, by the way you can still get at www.rcstore.com (http://www.rcstore.com) ) but it was Greg who taught me to be a "student of everything;" To graphically look at everything and apply it where possible. Somewhere in studying the folks I consider to be power painters: Vogel, Muise, Scott Biber, Scott Bich, Brian Chuddy, Josh Thiel- my own style began to develop.
Bob

Bob, I got an aztec airbrush for christmas and I am waiting for my air compressor (which should be arriving this friday) it has 4 horse power and able to give out 125 psi. I have a bunch parma faskolor paint and a new body for my inferno mp-6. I have heard I thin the faskolor with water, is this right? and what do YOU use when masking?

Yeah you use water to thin faskolor paints. I know you wanted Bob's opinion, but I like to use liquid masking. Hobbico makes good stuff.

Well my LHS told me to use paint masks. The ones that are already in a shape. That is though if u want a certain shape like flames or something like that. But if u want to make a weird design they told me to use Liquid mask.

Speed,
Master is right on the numbers, water is fine for thinning the FasKolor...as far as you're concerned Greg, take XXX's $25, paint him a body and then buy Kleenex with the leftover $$ from your happy meal... You'll need the tissues for you're uncontrollable weeping (if you ever regain your humility). bwaaaaah-

ok, so I should use the liquid mask? if i mess up cutting it, doesn't that mean I have to recaot it, re-dry it and cut it all over again? and how to you make sure that you don't cut or scratch the body while you cut the mask?
