Well can you? I was inspired by the latest issue of RCCA. I usually use pactra spray cans. I though about getting an airbrush but I don't paint enough to make it worth it. Any thoughts or tips on how to do it well?
thanks

I've done alot of Fade paint jobs with cans, and they all turned out real good. Its very important to make sure you wash the inside of the body real well, Finger prints will show up worse on Fade jobs then one color paint jobs. Start with the darkest color first, then work up to that lightest color. I've done fades starting with the lightest color and working to the darkest and have come up with some colors that I didn't plan on! LOL But they still looked good.
I think the easiest fades are 2 or 3 colors, with the darkest color on the rear and lightest on the front. When I get my pics resized i'll post a couple for you too see. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif Hope this Helped!!

Ok, cool. I guess I'll play around with it on some scrap lexan but how do you actually do the fade? Like, as you get closer to the point you want faded, start increasing the distance between the body and the can or are there better ways.
Thanks

In the current issue (3/01) The perimeter fade was done by aiming right at the edge of the body line, the overspray carries up the body naturally...likewise with the 1/2 & 1/2 car. I aimed right behind the actual line created by the masking. If you run your spray can under hot water for about 10 seconds before spraying, the pattern will be finer because of the increase pressure in the can.
Good luck!
