Does anyone know an easy way to paint-on flames onto a body?? I thought that there were flame stensils that you could use, I have also heard of flame "masks" but don't know what they actually are.

PARMA International (Parma) sells flame masks. Im assuming you know how to paint a body on the inside though.

TRY 'DOGPILE' XXXmain
they have the biggest range of masks all pre cut and id like to add totally brill and really good results come of it ,as long as you can apply them and paint good!
they also do internal grafix which are cool, good if you want somthing different and again might not be able to paint that good.
give it a go and let me know!

Seb, not trying to blow up your ego but you have talent! I know that goes without saying but I was checking out your site and I want to go buy a hundred bodies and try and do some of the stuff you have mastered. Speaking of which, is there any reasonable means of 'practicing' your technique without actually using a $20 shell?

I'm not sure how Seb or some of the other great painters on here are doing their practicing but, I read an article where someone made mention of using transparency film for over-head projectors to practice their painting techniques. I picked up a pack of 100 sheets from Office Depot for $30 and now i'm just waiting for the weather to cooperate long enough for me to get back outside and try it out. You have to be careful though with these. There are two types, one for inkjets and one for lasers. The ink jet ones have a weird coating on one side where the laser ones do not. I picked up the laser ones so I would get a more accurate example.

I've also heard of using a 2 liter bottle cut open for practicing.

Once I finally get a chance to use these I will start a new thread to let everyone know if they are worth the money or not.

I'm hopin' somebody will paint up a 2 litre bottle and mount it on a Revo or somethin.'

I'm glad you guys like it. Most of you anyways... LOL

About the step by step lesson, unfortunately I can't do that as I'm trying to run a airbrushing business. Just like a master magician who doesn't let anyone in on the tricks because then you wouldn't go WOW anymore. :)

That's a good idea with the transparent sheets...I just don't have time to practice.. everything new gets tried out on a body..

Thanks,
-Seb

Killerpaint dot com just released a how to video on tru-fire. While he does it on real cars, there are some secrets there that CAN be transfered to RC shells.

Seb, do you know how much money you could make if you could apply this to full-scale?

I don't think I'm ready for that... I think I got to practice first, wouldn't want to mess up someones car. I'll try it on my car, soon hopefully. But I don't know how much money I could make, I heard figures in the 10,000 - 15.000 for one car... is this about right?

There are also a couple of articles on real flames/real fire in Airbrush Action by Craig Fraser (February 2005) and Terry Hill (T-Shirt Tactics February 2004). Or you could find yourself a couple good pictures of fire on the Internet and go try to replicate it.
