Hey folks.....I have just purchased my first air brush and have a few questions...I'm using canned propellant because I intend to take it with me while I'm travelling for my work. (a compressor just won't cut it for the length of time I'm on the road).

1. Does Parma FasKolor paint need to be thinned to use with the above configuration?

2. How to keep the pressure from the canned "air" at a constant pressure. Mine seems to lose pressure after a minute or so of spraying.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

faskolor dose not need to be thined. if u have to thin it thin it with water. I'm not sure about consistansey with the propelant, are you sue it's the air and not the airbrush geting cloged?

Hi Jman....

I have run 4 different colors through the airbrush so far and 2 of the colors won't spray, red and silver spray fine but yellow and green don't????????? I have cleaned the nozzle each time I change color and still the same result>>>>>

After a minute or two the canned air becomes very cold and this is what causes it to loose air pressure. Set the can upright in a tub of warm water so it is about halfway submerged while you are painting and you shouldn't have that problem anymore.

I havent used canned air in years, but remember it was a horrible experience. I have only sprayed Fascolor once, and did not like it, and definately had to thin it.

A better solution than the canned air might be one of those portable air tanks that you can keep in your car and re-fil with a compressor. If a service station has free air then it is easy to refil, otherwise it might cost a quarter or whatever they rip you off for the air.

Propellant wont cut it either. You'll be lucky to finish one simple body with a can of propellant and it's outragously expensive. If you look in the back of modeling magazines, there is a small compressor called the airmaster2000 or something like that and would be better in every way than your compressed air (and cheaper over the long run). I believe it retails for about $129.00 My friend has one and it does a fine job and it's not much bigger then your can of compressed air.

the tamiya spraywork compresor is nice, it's small and runs off a 6 cell pack. the battery lasts a while on the compressor. it's $120 and comes with an airbrush.

did you run water trough the airbrush everytime you change the color?

Well....i did it....went out and bought a compressor...too big to take with me but I was tooooo frustrated with the whole canned air bit.....now I'm ready to rock on some bodies Ive been saving. I've already painted every bit of scrap clear plastic in the house...including some cut up pop (read soda) bottles. Thanks to all for the tips....I'll be visiting some of the websites for airbrush tips next....Thx again...Bluesy aka Doug :D :) ;) ;)
