R/C clubs?
Maybe RadioActive in BoilingBrook or the HobbyTown in Chicago.
A drive from Chicago to Dekalb(might be to long) is a great track.
AJ's Raceway has indoor oval & roadcoarse.
Outdoors is a off-road track, asphalt oval & roadcoarse.

I recently heard of one that races at Harper college in Palatine (I think). It's a mobile track and they race a couple of weekends a month I think. When I find their link I'll post it.
Ok, the site is www.sharingideas.com[URL=http://www.sharingideas.com]R/C (http://www.sharingideas.com) Raceway

RJB, What kind of car do you have? I live in St. Charles and have a large back yard 12 acres. I have a large but flat track out there and I would like to start a club for 1/8 scale buggies and 1/10 scale. Interested? I figure if we got enough people together we could really upgrade the track with some jumps and some tabletops woopdies now its a flat out speed track with 2 lond straight aways 60 yards or so with long sweeping turns at each end. If your into Monster Truck Racing check out the Monsters & Sled Dragons. Its a Chicago based club that does scale Monster Truck & Tuff truck racing. R/C pulling is also done from time to time. A new race series is set to start this fall in Libertyville,IL at Venture Raceway.

OK you guys, pack up your stuff and meet us at HobbyTown in Oak Park this Sunday. Arrive at 11 to practice, the races start at 12. Everyone is welcome, from people looking to race for the first time to experienced pros Even if you've never raced before, come out and give it a try! If you have any questions, come find me, I'll be the guy with the best looking cars coming in dead last!
There is plenty of parking neary by, lots of resturants within 2 minutes walking, a Starbucks (thank god) and the store is well stocked for Associated and HPI stuff.

Merkel54,
Sorry it took so long to reply. I don't have a car/truck/buggy yet but I'd be interested once I do. Hopefully soon.

I run the track at Harper (R/C Raceway) but we are selling the track at the end of this season, just 2 more races left. So now I am starting a club for all of you R/C enthusiasts, a way to let everyone that joins know when and where we will be running on any given weekend. It's FREE to join, you need to send me your info though and I will add you to the official member list. Please go to www.sharingideas.com (http://www.sharingideas.com) and click on the Club 2001 link for details. So if Merkel54 still wants to get people out to his back yard the club would be given a date and time and whoever wants to go would go (for example).
Thanks,
