 What part of Northern Ohio ?
There is an offroad track near Toledo, NW Ohio which can be found in the tracks listings on rccaraction.com.
Personally, I do belong to the club, however I don't feel the track is that great but it is the only one in the area I know of.

I know the last post was over a year ago but ohwell... we have a track in Oberlin, Ohio. It's not to far from Sandusky, I'd say about 30 miles east. We just had our first season of racing last year, it was a little slow. Hopefully it will take off this year. Our site is www.xrcsports.com Hopefully we'll see you out there :)

What's the closest track to the Cleveland/Akron area?
Thanks,
Todd
From Cleveland. Medina and xrc in oberlin are probably the closest. I raced in oberlin last year and going to also again this year. Medina is also on the list. Both tracks are easy to get to from cleveland and both take about 1/2 hour drive from the west side. Oberlin being the easiest to find and get to. It's on rt 20. 480 west until it changes to rt 20. As soon as it goes to a 2 lane road the track is on your right. Medina is I 71 south to rt 3 exit. then west until you see regan park on the right. If you pass the high school, you went too far.
Hope to see you make it out this year.

A new track just opened up about 15-20 miles north of Porstsmouth. And about 70 miles directly south of Columbus. It has both indoor offroad racing and carpet oval racing... Here's the address:
http://www.southboundraceway.com
I'm the site admin... Check out the site for track info and pics.
We run on Saturdays starting at noon for offroad racing. Carpet oval racing starts at 6:00pm... But check the site for the up-to-date calendar and info.

You were at the SouthBound flea market hobby shop??? I don't work in the shop, I just run the WebSite, so I'm not sure what he has/had in there. You can email Jim or post on our message board though to find out. Jim's email address is
jim@southboundraceway.com
Jim's the owner of the shop and race track and an all around great guy.
You can also call the shop on the weekends... the number is on our site under "About Us". Or better yet, bring that new T-Maxx down and race with us on Saturdays and talk to Jim in person!! Yeah that's the ticket! ;)

im in northeast ohio, we race carpet and asphalt oval at classic hobbies, theres also a brand new off-road track there too. medina also has a off-road track, but im not very impressed with it.
Yes classic off road is fun. I have never raced their indoor though.
Boardman outdoor i have been to twice and it is cool also.
I race at medina most of the time but got to many other tracks.
Curious as to what you do not like at medina though. Make sure to let us know as new owners next year might help out with some issues and are willing to listen. Medina is suited better for 1/8th scale though because of its size.

i should rephrase that.....
i think medina has a great track, especially for 1/8th scales, like you said, but i think that there are too many hacks that race there, at least the few times i raced there back in 05' other than that, its a well groomed track, and the hired help is friendly, but its a bit of a drive for me, im in akron, but on the east side, out in springfield. but im only 3mins away from classic.
