OK, I'm going up on a scouting trip of sorts this weekend. I'll be taking a bunch of pictures to show you all. I'm recruiting a bunch of Utah guys to go to the race. Chad says about any excuse I (or you) may have that "it doesn't matter." So whatever you're thinking, it doesn't matter, you're going. :) It's one of our only chances to go to a big race that ISN'T on a Sunday. Let's GO FOR IT!

I'll have to find out the specifics tomorrow or this weekend...
BTW, Jeff can't go; he's got his annual college-buddy-camping-trip scheduled for that weekend.
Jeremy Kopp says that this track is the BEST outdoor track he's EVER been to (he's been all over the place), so it oughtta be awesome!

Yeah definetely awsome. I am leaving this afternoon for my yearly Memorial Weekend camping trip and will be back on MON. I check what you have come up with when I get back. How much is GAS, and everything at the race like entry fees, etc going to cost.

I've alreasy talked to Chad & Steve about this, but I better post it here too, so you guys can see too.
Chad sent a disposable camera with me for spy shots (not really spy shots...) and it's just waiting to be developed now. The track was pretty cool, but not up to its full potential yet. It's covered in loose dirt right now, but I hear that they'll have it all cleaned up for the race. It was so freaking dusty that my truck was COVERED with dust & dirt after just one practice pack. Luckily, some compressed air took care of cleaning duties for the most part. The track is plenty big and the wooden jumps were pretty cool. I'm sure we'll be using bigger pinions here because the layout is a lot more spread out with longer straights & stuff. There's one table top jump in the back corner that's permanent, but the other jumps are wooden and will surely be repositioned for the big race. They were no trouble; my stock truck cleared them easily the whole time.
So I think the track will be great once they get all the extra crap off the top of it. For racing in current conditions, step pins, bowties, or even holeshots would be tires of choice. For racing the track when it has been relieved off the extra dust, holeshots, square fuzzies or taper pins should work great. Jeremy Kopp said that he loved the track. He said they had so much traction that wheelies were easily pulled in mod buggy. I hope they get it back that way before the big race, because my truck was throwing serious rooster tails this past weekend.
The drivers' stand has (around 6-8) stairs on both ends; getting me up there wo't be really easy, but it's definitely possible. I'll talk to the track owner on the phone to find out more details about everything. They don't use transponders. The pit area (a building right there with one whole wall not there, kinda like a garage) has lots of tables & outlets are available.
It took us 3 hours to drive from Twin Falls to my driveway, without stopping. We found a great hotel (AmeriTel Inn) where we stayed for $60 (a room with 2 queen beds) with a happenings book and got free (big) continental breakfast, free cookie hour (5-7 pm), and a nice pool that's open 24 hrs. It's a nice new place and it's easy to get to wherever we want from there. I know my way around now.
Any questions? You can call Kelly at 208-733-8667 like I'm going to do. I already know where I want to eat dinner on Friday night... :D

Well Brian, I think that a bunch of us are going from utha county. I ran a pair of worn out square fuzzies last year and had too much traction. It should be fun.
