Yeah, the kingpins are steel, they have held up really well through 2 or 3 years of hard punishment :D Dont bother replacing them if you dont need to :)

so, in the interest of my friend, what truck do you guys recomend buying.... since I have not found much on the ae t2?
pudder
02-23-2003, 09:43 PM
Do you mean what version of the truck?
If your friend is going to be racing a lot I would get the Factory Team.
If he willl be racing sometime and just beating around mostly, I would get the Team.
Any others I would just get for beating around.
They have aspecial edition RTR one now too, I would get that one for racing, it has lots of nice features.

hmmm not to sure what he will be doing with it... I know he wants to race at the local track... but I also know that he will be running around his street and yard... not to sure really, what the ratio of one to the other is going to be. LOL.... But I thank you for any info you have.

If it is his first truck then I suggest he get the T3 Sepcial Edition RTR, its a rtr T3, looks to be a great deal :D

no, not his first truck.. the one he has now is a t2, but it is really difficult to find parts for ... as well as info. LOL... so he is thinking of buying a new one. I run a xxxt, but I think he likes ae.... is the ae t4 out yet?
k_sw31
02-23-2003, 10:24 PM
I wouldn't expect the T4 to be out for quite awhile, so go for the team kit or the Team built of he already has electronics....:)
jpel200
02-23-2003, 10:32 PM
Thanks, I'll let him know... .. our new track is really cool... tight turns, slippery right now, but is blue grooving... hard to set up for. LOL... But it is nice...just want him to have fun on it... the associated team drivers seemed to have an easier time of it than the losi drivers... ...not sure why... but I am a newbie and really looked it out there. LOL.. ... oh well.... gotta practice more methinks! hehehe

If you have a place where you can order any part you want, you can still get parts for the truck.

Actually, we do have three pretty good hs here... and I am pretty sure they still carry all the parts like you say. I guess it was more the information thing. For instance... I can't find a single thing on this message board about the t2... And I am not really sure that he is going to buy another one. But he did mention it once, so I thought I would ask on here.. LOL... Might be jumping the gun a little. hehehe...... thanks for all your info.

does anyone know where i can get aluminum hop ups for the t3?
k_sw31
02-24-2003, 08:58 PM
Well, trinity make some aluminum hard ware (most common, rear tranny brace), HG (www.1hg.com) makes some good quality stuff, and Racers Edge (http://www.racers-edge.com/iwwidb.pvx?;multi_item_submit) makes a lot of aluminum hardware :)

For best VALUE get the RTR special edition. If he already has electronics i would get the factory team, i think its worth it over the team, i have broken several standard turbuckles and like to think i havent on my FTGT because they titanium ones are stronger. Anyways he will have fun with any of these options.

Well I didn't race my T3 this weekend. I felt like racing my pancar instead.
It should be good when I go back on sunday though, there is a few new guys there in truck :) I have a really good setup too, but my foams are wearing down, though I should be getting a new pair for my birthday. :)

So k_sw31 hows your T3? LoL just messing around, last I saw your whole front end looked like it went through a garbage disposal face first. Any luck with the rebuild? All I gotta say is the beauty of BL. :D

Hehe, that was a pretty good wreck. It has been fixed up again, but the chassis that has been glued together (dont ask  ) for awhile gave up after it launched off some jumps with BL power :D
So basically I need a new chassis and rear chassis plate and I should be good to go :D

Hey, sup guys?! Haven't been in her in aloooooooooong time! I might finally be able to run my T3 again after so long tommorow. I'm going to run it on a 7cell pack with my 11x2 speed gem pro, should be fast! I just hope the cells are good. I didn't care for my packs properly before. I had 4 reedy zapped 3000 matched packs, they were awsome! But I didn't let them cool all the time so there flat now. So I weeded out the one I think are weak, I just hope the seeming ly strong ones are actually good.....blah..........blah.................blahbl ahblahblah.....:p
Oh well this summer my T3 is gunna be my main bashing machine. I'm selling the pede and I'm gunna buy the Novak Brushless system and some 7cell packs, probably 3300's. Whats the word on these cells? Good? The magazines say their good...
Enough rambling for tonight, I'm gunna goto bed....

what kind of brushless set-ups are you guys running? And how well do they work for you? And have you had any problems? I have haerd of people having problems with the speed controls. thanks

I run a lehner 5300 in my T3 sometimes, its a cooker :D Some escs do have issues, but the factory has just upgraded the software, so they shouldn't have many problems :)
Check out the brushless forum, tons of people there :)

I know I have heard a lot of people stripping the small screws on their T3's. I have had that problem, but today I picked up a 1/16 inch wrench. Before hand I had been using a 1 mm wrench, and had been consistently stripped screws, but with this wrench, everything fits perfectly :)
Unforunatly it is a losi wrench (ugh  ) but it seems fine and it was only about 12$. :)

Here's a picture of my Factory Team T3. Here's my setup:
Novak Cyclone ESC
Novak XXL receiver
Hitec Digital HS-5925MG servo
Birdman P2K
Airtronics 3PS transmitter
I race it in the Stock Truck class at Tacoma RC Raceway in Washington.

I had a good day of racing. I TQ'd with a lap over the competition. We had a good showup with 12 trucks, and we had 3 heats, but decided to do 2 mains with 6 trucks in each, which me and the other 2'nd and 3'rd trucks hated since it is chaos with with even 4 in a race on the track...
I think I placed first in 2/3 of the qualifyers, I placed second in one, and third in the a-main, but I still held TQ.
The main sucked, 6 trucks, only 3 of us good drivers, too much confusion, I got hacked by one truck all through the main even though he was lapped traffic, and fell behind. I caught up and took first place with about 10 seconds left, then I got hacked again by the lapped traffic as I was rounding a turn, and was forced into 3'rd.
I'll get some pictures later.

How good is the T3? i am planning on racing this summer and wanted to race electric cause i hate my t-maxx. I am planning on buying the t3 basic, p2k2 pro, intellispeed 12t, and a futaba magnum sport. Is this a good setup? I am on a budget, and i am also getting another pair of ballistic 2400 since they rock in my e-maxx!
k_sw31
03-18-2003, 10:15 PM
Well, if your going to be racing, you should make it worth your while and upgrade to either a team built or a team kit (I suggest the kit so you will be familiar with your car). Instead of the intellispeed esc, I'd suggest either a novak dually or fusion. They are a higher quality esc in my opinion. Depending on your track, also look at other stock motors. If you have a pretty small track the P2K should be fine, but if your track is a medium or large size track look at the monster stock or reedy MVP.
For the mains, it might be better to have Ni-mh batts for consistent voltage, look at the GP 3300s from www.promatchracing.com :)

Well i am kind of on a budget. That is unless i sell my villain, by the way anybody want it? Anyway, i would consider the team built or the team kit, i really like kits but it is more. The ballistic batterys i would probably just buy anyway, but the esc is the expensive one. so the duratrax esc aint worth the money? Well how about the lrp f1 reverse? Thank you again
k_sw31
03-20-2003, 06:36 PM
The duratrax esc will probably be fine, except from what I see (on tower), it is only available with reverse, a no no for racing. I just have a personal preferance for novaks and so I would suggest you buy a fusion or a dually :)

03-20-2003, 07:19 PM
I would also agree on Novak or LRP.
Oh ya, here are the pics I was going to post...
It may look a bit odd, but I TQ'ed with a lap over the competition! :D

How does it handle with those tires?
pudder
03-20-2003, 08:52 PM
I race on carpet track, and those are foam tires, so yes it does handle like a dream. I get perfect grip through the turns too. I have it dialed in just right. :)
I look forward to racing offroad in the summer, I think I'm going to race modified though. :)

those small tires are great!!!
I just sealed a deal and will be getting a T3 by trade next week. I've been wanting one for quite a while now. I'll join the post more often when I get the truck. Later
