Here's your trucks brother. I love the carbon fiber!! Where did you get that?!

Daddimike
12-27-2008, 02:51 AM
both front and rear shock towers are Carbon Fiber. I got them from a friend out east who found thme in a hobby store on clearance. Got 2 sets of front and rear shock towers as well as 2 sets of titanium turnbuckles and sway bar sets for $45. Thought about putting the extra set on my sons, but he will trash them way to quick and I will be out of luck

Killerush

Wanna do some trading for those shock towers? I know you need an engine and I have one I'm not using.

Daddimike
12-27-2008, 03:04 AM
How old is the engine? And what was it again? I would need to check the availability of the parts But i will consider it once I get some more info. Send it pm here or direct to me. Going to go watch 300 with the wife. Good meeting you bro.

Killerush
12-27-2008, 03:08 AM
it's an OS .12 that was used for 3 races(the one in the pic you saw, it was pulled right after). Still like new. I sent you an email.

Killerush
12-27-2008, 04:32 AM
The only suggestion i have is your pipe is pointed wrong. If you land hard you're gonna break the stinger off. Point your stinger parallel to the ground and it will be fine. I have broken stingers in the past on 10th scale trucks with your setup. Nice rides!!:D

Daddimike

Killerush

Sitting in Yokosuka,Japan. missing my wife and my toys. I am attached to a forward deployed unit though and this is my down time.

Daddimike
12-27-2008, 11:08 AM
You are a Hero in my eyes, thank you. I love you man, now hurry up, get home and send me my engine, HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! Keep your chin up brother, looking forward to getting you states side soon. Maybe we can go race

Killerush
12-27-2008, 11:32 AM
I'm not a hero, there are plenty of my brothers and sisters in far worse places than me(Afganistan, Iraq...etc). But thanks, your praise and prayers are appreciated. So do I get the shock towers!!:D Just kidding. Check around this site and my reputation should speak for itself.

what do you use for motor mounts on this .12 in the Rush?

Hey Killer dont you ever sleep?

BullyDawg

I have a feeling one of my rushes is going to be a shelf queen. Probably the modified one. And ill run the stock one...

My modified one has carbon Fiber front and rear shock towers, Upper deck, and Upgraded threaded shocks... I am currently looking for a Hpi 12. SS engine to slap in it. Those things RIP!

Daddimike
12-27-2008, 02:56 PM
I thought about the same things. Shelfing my modded one and running my sons stock one. But I am not to sure I will be able to leave her on the shelf, HAHAHAHAHAHA

BullyDawg
12-27-2008, 02:59 PM
Haha, ill take her out on my street, but no extreme off-roading to a point where I am going to break something that is hard to get a hold of..

Daddimike
12-27-2008, 03:03 PM
AMEN to that one.I have spent about 8 months building my modded one, I would hate to wreck it in a matter of minutes and have to spend another 8 months trying to find all the pieces again

BullyDawg
12-27-2008, 10:55 PM
Well, my buddy is going to buy the stock one off me for $100, so basically I get a running modded one for $65..! He has a .18 to throw in it. There is a track about 25 miles away. So, I am going to have to pick up an engine for mine soon. I think ill get a t15 or .12ss... Should be fun smashing around the track.

Killerush
12-27-2008, 11:28 PM
what do you use for motor mounts on this .12 in the Rush?

I use Team Associated RC10GT mounts, but HPI makes the same mounts for the RS4. I'll send you my address today and get my wife to pack up the .12.

BullyDawg
12-27-2008, 11:51 PM
Do you guys know what engines bolt in directly on the stock mounts?

Killerush
12-28-2008, 01:06 AM
If I remember correctly the original Rush engine had integral mounts and the Evo will accept any small block (.12-18). It's been a while since I messed with mine so I can't recall if I actually used the RC10 mounts or I used the factory Evo mount.

Daddimike
12-28-2008, 02:26 AM
the stock 15fe had the mounts cast into the block, if you use another engine then you neef to find mounts for those

BullyDawg
12-28-2008, 12:12 PM

Okay, so what motors will work with what motor mounts?

Daddimike
12-28-2008, 04:02 PM
Okay, so what motors will work with what motor mounts?

You can get the HPI aluminum heat sink engine mount for like 30 dollars I think. They work just fine. There are two types, one for pull start motors and another for non pullstarts.

Hows the weather over there?

Killerush
12-28-2008, 07:33 PM
It's a little cool and ALWAYS windy. It would be nice if the wind would ever calm down.

Daddimike
12-28-2008, 07:35 PM
quite a while ago I purchaed some Masher 2000 tires on some rims. The rear were 12mm hex's and the front were not so I figured they would work. Once I got them I realized that they would not fit on my stock front Rush spindles. So I went ahead and got some Traxxas steering knuckles in hopes that they would fit, and sure enough they did. That was a taxing lil adventure. I am having a hard time getting my hump pack into the battery box of the Rush. Any suggestions? Anyone? Killerush, what were you telling me was a direct drop in for the transmission?

Daddimike
12-28-2008, 07:39 PM
you out on the water most of the time? What do you do?

Daddimike
12-28-2008, 07:45 PM
I believe there are only two type of motor mount small block and big block, but not all small block mounts will fit in all small block vehicles

Killerush
12-28-2008, 08:14 PM
I run my hump pack in front of the front shock tower. I removed the rear battery box and relocated the battery for more front grip. It has worked very well on my setup.

Daddimike
12-28-2008, 08:29 PM
between the front shock tower and body posts? Was that the RS4 differential for the transmission? Got a link or picture of it by any slim chance?

Killerush
12-28-2008, 08:52 PM
I have a 5 cell hump pack, it fits nicely in front of the shock tower and I use zip ties to hold it in place. The RS4 diff gears will fit in the Rush, not the tranny. Sorry no pics.

Daddimike
12-28-2008, 08:55 PM
Yeah I have the 5 cell hump as well, I will have to check out that mounting tip for sure though. I also have the RS4 spider gears in there. I was thinking you were talking about something else.what is it Tuesday morning there?

Killerush
12-28-2008, 09:11 PM
It's Monday, a little after noon. I changed the gears in mine after the first break-in tank, that's when I found out the original spider gears were plastic. I am also running the RS4 bevel gear, which is geared a little differently than the stock Rush gear if I remember correctly.

Daddimike
12-28-2008, 09:16 PM
See I thought you were talking about this here http://http://cgi.ebay.com/HPI-A435-Rear-Differential-Pulley-Set-RS4-MT_W0QQitemZ160303827623QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_C ontrol_Parts_Accessories?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 not the gears, thats why I was shocked. I tried that mounting tip for my battery. Looks like it will work nice. Give me some room in the back to fabricate some wheel bar plate.

Killerush
12-28-2008, 09:26 PM
I moved mine out of necessity. In tight turns I couldn't get on the throttle without chattering the front tires and developing a push. Once I moved the battery I can stay in the trottle in the middle of a turn. The only down side was I lost a little bit of punch coming out of the turns due to wheelspin because of the lost weight in the rear. But it is still faster per lap.

Daddimike
12-28-2008, 09:36 PM

I spent all day getting one all modified, and all set up. All I need are crystals and to get the engine running. I couldn't get it going at all. It would get hard to pull where it was about to start, it would do it for days and not start. Anyone know the stock carb settings?

BullyDawg
12-30-2008, 03:15 AM
I spent all day on it. Cant get it to start at all. New air filter and glow plug. It gets to the point where it is about to start and wants to start, but it just wont run. Anyone know the stock carb settings?

Killerush
12-30-2008, 10:20 AM
has the engine been sittin for a long time? has it been broke in? what's the weather like where ur at? is there fuel comin out ur exhaust pipe when u turn it on it's side? i believe it's 4 quarter turns out. been awhile.

killerush's wife

BullyDawg
12-30-2008, 01:06 PM
Engine has been sitting for a few years. It has been broken it, but not ran in a few years. It does have some compression. So 4 quarter turns? So... One full turn? And no, when I turn it on its side, gas doesn't really come out. Maybe a couple drops, but that is it. Weather is about 40-50* clear sky's.

Daddimike
12-30-2008, 06:40 PM
what engine is it in the Rush?

Killerush
12-30-2008, 06:42 PM
It depends on the engine but most are 3 1/2 to 4 turns out from fully closed. Sounds like your carb is gummed up. Try putting a few drops of fuel directly into the carb and see if it fires. If it does then your high speed needle is clogged.

Daddimike
12-30-2008, 07:43 PM
I agree with Killer. I also know that if it is the stock 15fe motor, they are junk. Probably a bad engine if it is and has no compression, I would not even waste your time.

Killerush
12-30-2008, 09:55 PM
Mike, Here are the pics of your OS .12. I'll send you these in email too.

BullyDawg
12-31-2008, 01:31 AM
Engine is the stock Nitro Star .15fe. It has compression. I put gas in the carb and still nothing. It really wants to start, and I can feel it. It just isn't there.

BullyDawg
12-31-2008, 02:49 AM
Sorry, still a little dirty, but when I got them they were a mess. I put the engine together and mounted it... Got new shocks, antenna, airfilter, did all the wiring and cleaned it up a little with zip-ties... I spent a day on it so far. All I need are a set of AM crystals and get it running.

Here are the pics:

Killerush
12-31-2008, 03:23 AM
Pretty sweet ride Bully. I like the carbon fiber top plate. Just a suggestion, but I would run the wiring under the top plate for a cleaner look. That looks like an old Picco engine, I don't recall hpi using that head. If you can find one, an EVO header will GREATLY improve your top end power.

Daddimike
12-31-2008, 07:15 AM
if you would like to pm me I am sure we can get you some crystals

BullyDawg
12-31-2008, 12:09 PM
I bought the head separately as I really dislike the ugly Grey head.

BullyDawg
12-31-2008, 01:12 PM
Man. I got ripped off. The seller said that they were both good R/C's that didn't need much to run. Well, they both need engines, Crystals, and the roller needs numerous little parts that aren't available anymore and receivers, Servo arms, air filters.. What a rip. I sent the seller a nice little message. The only good thing is one of them looks good. That is it. I don't like shelf queens. I guess they aren't too bad, I just dont have the money to pt into them. I figured, I would take the parts he sent and put them together to get a couple good running trucks.

Daddimike
12-31-2008, 06:38 PM
Sorry to hear that you got a bum deal. That one does look nice though. I really like that carbon fiber chassis plate. And yes alot of the parts are almost impossible to find. Did they come with bodies?

BullyDawg
12-31-2008, 09:50 PM
Nope... no bodies either. I guess they aren't that bad. I just dont have the money right now to get them going.

Killerush
01-02-2009, 04:43 AM
Bully, If you want to get rid of them I may be interested in at least one of them. Shoot me a pm.

Daddimike

Daddimike
01-03-2009, 05:01 PM
Hows the Rush projects coming Bully? You should have enough pieces between the 2 to build 1 and have some spares

BullyDawg
01-03-2009, 05:49 PM
I need an engine and crystals for one.

Daddimike
01-03-2009, 08:27 PM
you could send the engine in to HPI for the engine exchange program and I think I have an extra set of crystals around here somewhere. Killerush might buy one of the trucks off of you and that would be a good chunk for the replacement plan

Killerush

BullyDawg
01-06-2009, 01:11 AM

Killerush
01-06-2009, 09:08 PM
I'm "working". I have one of my nitro trucks with me here in Japan, I really miss my Baja though. The wife got me an Axial crawler kit that I can't wait to dig into when I get home.

Daddimike
01-10-2009, 11:46 PM
any one around?

BullyDawg
01-20-2009, 05:39 PM
Okay, Ill sell both rushes for $115 with extra parts. Anyone want them? I can get more pictures.

Killerush
01-21-2009, 12:14 AM
You throwing in the towel, Bully? I would snap them up but i have to get a brushless/Lipo setup for my crawler project. Can't do much racing until next year so my Rush is sitting until then. Throw them up in the for sale section and I'm sure they'll sell. Good luck!

BullyDawg
01-21-2009, 03:37 PM
Yeah. I have a Revo that I would rather drop $$$ into.

Daddimike
01-21-2009, 03:42 PM
Sorry to hear you are giving up on the Rush Projects. HOpe you can get your money back on them. If you happen to part them out I would be interested in the Carbon Fiber plate though

Daddimike
01-28-2009, 02:46 PM
Hey Bully. Any luck on the Rush sales? Hope all is well

BullyDawg
01-28-2009, 02:48 PM
No luck yet. Anyone willing to buy all the carbon fiber parts off me?
