Thanks pudder.I have never even been to a rc race, but i would like to go watch sometime, but i thought it might be neat to race my stampede every now and then if they didnt care.I only have the 20 turn stinger right now though. What are all the different classes of stadium truck racing, and what are the motor/esc limits for each?

I'm kinda new in the pede world. I was wondering how i could lower my pede and make it wider without spending too much money! by the way, how much does it take to convert it to four wheel drive, also my brother has an Emaxx and is getting new motors, he said he would give me one of his titans, but i am unsure if my esc can handle it and will it improve my trucks performance?
Thanks for your help:D

I think you will have to use two batteries for it because the titan is like a 14 volt motor(i think),so no,your speed control wouldnt handle it if im right.

No, you aren't right. I ran a Titan on my Rooster for a few months, worked fine.

Well basically there is two types of offroad ST racing; stock and modified.
Stock: 27 turn ROAR legal motors are a must, run with 6 cell packs. Aside from that, there are not many other main things you need to have...
Modified: I think most tracks run a limit of 10 turn motors with 6 cells.
Mostly the motors are the only thing separating a person from being in stock or modified. Also in your post you said "...what are the motor/esc limits..." I answered that above, and there is no ESC limit, but you will need and ESC that is capable of handling the motor you will be running. I think the limit for the XL-1 is 20 turn, I wouldn't go any lower. It is a good idea to invest in a better ESC that will handle lower turn motors, and you will get better performance.

Is it bad if the mesh is too tight? I bough a few Kirborough Spurs to see if theyre good or not.
pudder
03-17-2003, 10:39 PM
It is bad to have loose or tight mesh. The only good mesh is inbetween. Your truck should be quiet with a good mesh.
I use kimbrough spurs on most of my vehicles, they work good and mesh good with the Robinson Racing pinions I use.

MADDMAXX121
03-18-2003, 07:15 AM
first of all how do you increase the acceleration. I want my pede to be a whellie machine, my brothers evader bx has much better aceleration than mine, is it the gearing or the motor, cuase' those duratrax stockers are mad fast and nice:rolleyes:
pudder
03-18-2003, 09:20 AM
...if you didn't know, there is an edit button to these posts so you don't have to make 4 little ones...
I don't know what the cell limit is for the XL-1, I wouldn't try 7 cells though, that ESC has enough trouble with 6. :p
If you want your pede to be a wheelie machine, invest in a better motor. I had to be on carpet to pull wheelies with the stinger, it was really weak. I reccomend getting the Chameleon 2 Pro from Trinity. It is a really nice motor, I have one. Much nicer than the duratrax ones too. You will also need a smaller pinion gear for this motor. I used a 16 tooth the other day with success for a good gear ratio.

Hey, Im really starting to get into Rc's now. I've had my Pede about 4 years. I only got a ESC in it rite now. I was wondering what all I should get for it? I was thinking a 15 Turn DOUBLE, MIp Shiny CVD's, And Bearings. I was wondering what mip cvd's I need? Do any of you guys have them in your Stampede? If any of you can help me out on what to do with it, That would be GREAT.. Thanks:D :D :D :D
pudder
03-18-2003, 05:43 PM
I wouldn't bother with the CVD's. They are a waste of money for a pede in my opinion.
Also, it would be a good idea to get the metal idler gear if you are going to be putting in a 15t double. And make sure your ESC will handle a motor that low.
Besides the bearings, there is no real other upgrades you should need...
cummins driver
03-18-2003, 05:51 PM
Thanks pudder.I will need an esc before long because all i have right now is the msc:rolleyes: (dont make fun of me).I was thinking about the duratrax intellispeed 16t mild-modified esc with reverse for $55 at tower hobbies, but i think the first thing i will get will be a chameleon 2 pro(im pretty sure the msc will handle it).I would also like to upgrade from the bushings to rpm 5x11 carriers, and some good bearings. So many thing i would like to have.I have the money, its just that i dont like to see it all go at once, and my parents arent all for me spending much on rc's anyway.

03-18-2003, 06:07 PM
Well, whats the Medal Idler gear? My ESC handles down to 15 turn motors. Its a LRP F1 reverse. What about MIP cvd's for my Bandit? Im gonna put a 10 turn in that, would it be worth getting them for the Bandit? Thanks.

Actually CVD's are pretty nice. They aren't nesicary, but they are alot stronger than the stock plastic axles. And they also have less resistance. WIth the stock set-up you won't have quite as much down travel, about half a centimeter. This isn't really a problem at all. With the stock tires you'll get the shocks to bottom out still. And with M2K's you won't get full down travel, but the tires are so soft they absorb the inpact anyways....Anyways. I changed the rear hub carrier posistion to the lower hole. And moved the camber link on the shock tower. Basically in this setup you get less compression of the drive axles.
But you really don't need CVD's unless your breaking U-joints. Or have some oney burning a hole in your pocket. And the CVD's are quieter than the sliders.
I ran the pede again yesterday. It was pretty fun. I burned some dounghnuts where the inside wheel was unloading, so snow was shooting out behind the truck really hard. :p And With a 7cell pack and an 11t motor I'd have to say top speed is really, really good!

I wouldn't bother with CVD's period for any traxxas vehicle. Like Wheel Nut said, unless you are breaking yokes or something, don't bother, plus you can always get steel yokes too...
The metal idler is just an aluminum idler gear that goes in place of the stock, very weak plastic one. It will make your truck a bit more loud, but you won't have to worry about stripping gears.

I have to agree with the cvds. They look cool but thats it. They rub on the outdrives. Looks like a disaster waiting to happen. What does MIP think were doing with these trucks? There built for jumping for god sakes. Anyway at least I got the stickers out of it cause im pretty sure I wont be using the cvds. Worst 50$ canadian i ever spent.

I am going to get the metal idler, I really need something stronger in the tranny too. I wouldn't mind the ball diff either, but I think it is a bit expensive. :)
k_sw31
03-19-2003, 01:00 AM
From what I have heard the ball diff is a total rip. Its over priced, the new diff gear strips in comparison to the current idler gear and the only way you can get a replacment is to buy the kit again. PLus I have heard it is not all that tuneble.

My friend has a traxxas ball diff because it came with his Blue Eagle when he bought it back in the day, I really don't like how it adjusts...
Since the pede is just a beater to me I'll be keeping the gear diff. :)

Man I snapped my Front right hub carrier when i was in Vancouver for the weekend.. the turning radius on the car was less than i though and i clipped a hunk of concrete at full throttle with my 16T. I guess i'll be getting those RPM hub carriers after all.
I recently picked up the Caliber 16T motor from Greathobbies.. man that motor is a great deal. Its not quite as good as the Speed Gems, but for like $29.99 compared to $49.99CDN they're a pretty good deal... too bad they aren't rebuildable. Now i'm running a 16T, 18/87 stock gearing, Novak Duster ESC, 2400 Sanyos... and the thing smokes.. it wheelies on demand and just smokes.. too bad the breaks suck. I'm not sure if its the 2WD or if its the Duster that makes them suck... cuz i ran the damn thing into my foot last night and my toe wass bleeding. which reminds me.. i need a wheelie bar or skid plate of some sort.... I'm thinking of making my own.

I think it is probably just the truck itself. Using my ESC I use in my pede, has decent brakes on high grip surface, but outside it sucks for breaks.

Save up and get:
scenario 1: rpm hubs w/ bearings & alum. idler
OR
scenario 2: chameleon 2 pro motor
OR
scenario 3: new body (old one smashed)
pudder
03-20-2003, 10:04 AM
Personally I would take scenario one.
Also, you mentioned you use the stock pistons, the kit comes with one, two and three hole pistons. I did use three hole ones for a while, but for jumping they suck, too much give in the suspension, just yesterday I switched to one hole pistons and 25 wt oil.
Also taking apart my truck after my fun in the water, I was pissed off to find 2 of my bearings seized in my hub carriers, I managed to get one of them working like new, but the second one is FUBAR, Looks like I'll have to get another one. :(
corwin99
03-20-2003, 12:45 PM
yeah i'd go with scenario one as well.. depending on what other mods ur running the new motor might be nice too. What are you running now?
I just ordered 2 front RPM bearing carriers from RCBoyz for $6.85US... I was almost considering getting the original traxxas ones because they're like less than half the price and I have a bunch of 5x8mm bearings that I dont know what to do with. I have a bunch of 5x11mm bearrings too from buying that stampede/rustler bearing kit and finding out that all the 5x11's are included with the kit so i didn't need any extras anyway.

Anyone in here want another Stampede? Mine has been run mostly on pavement, and has very few runs overall. It's in great shape, and I need the money so I'd be willing to let it go pretty cheap. Everything works great, so it's a great truck for a project, or for a first timer. I have pics. PM me if you're interested. I posted something in the buy/sell/trade forums too, but I just figured I would see if any of you want it.
corwin99
03-20-2003, 06:50 PM
do you mean shock positions or shock pistons?
I use the standard shock positions mainly because there's so little difference i'm not sure i'd notice... maybe better drivers will, i just bash the stampede :). I do notice that the springs are a little soft so i've got a lot of preload.. I'm using the 2 hole pistons.. you could take some pistons from other shocks that you might have to change them maybe if you want more options.
pudder
03-20-2003, 07:06 PM
Right now I have no shocks on my truck because it is in pieces...
Okay, but let's say it was, I use outer holes on front arms, second last outer holes on rear arms, and I am not sure about preload, but I do have quite a bit. I am running 25 wt trinity oil and one hole pistons.

Pudder, u should put the aluminum threaded evader st shocks on your pede and be done with it. Plus it looks good. Ive only run the truck in the house(chasing those dam cats) and in the snow but they seem awesome.
Oh yea, if anyone wants a cheap fix, put thick automotive chassis grease in the diff. It works just like gm's g80 locking diff. The wheel with the least resistance will spin first and once it reaches a certain rpm the other wheel will begin to turn, therefore either giving u more traction or keeping u in a straight line. I tried it in the snow and BELEIVE ME it works great. Like night and day difference. Misbehaven' site has the instructions but too lazy too find.
;)

I did put my Evader shocks on my pede, but I blew out one shock, the shock body is stripped even, POS DuraTrax. I'm not going to bother replacing it.
k_sw31
03-20-2003, 07:38 PM
I dont like the evader shocks. They may look ok (I personally dont think they look that great), but I dont like threaded shocks, and I found the shock shafts tweak and bend very easily... I now use my AE blue ano'd shocks :D
EDMONTON
03-20-2003, 07:56 PM
everyones a critic. Ah well what can u do. I rebuilt my duratrax shocks using losi rebuild kit and I havent blown one since. Theyre a perfect fit and with 35wt oil, they handle most tasks. But thats making do with what youve got. Theyres nothing wrong with traxxas shocks if u use aluminim caps.
The stampede is one of the most inexpensive and def. the funnest rc I have ever bashed. Some of us like to modify in the hope to bullet-proof it and speed it up but theres nothing wrong with stock pedes. Anyone who wants to complain can buy a good old reliable and SLOW Tamyia.
Oh ya, and stay away from MIP:D
Ill keep trashing them till they give me a refund or ban me. Worst 50$ i ever spent. Maybe ill make earings out of those cvds.
pudder
03-20-2003, 08:45 PM
I am just going to use the stock traxxas shocks. I also don't need to use the metal shock caps because if you use plumbers tape, it helps prevent against that. I have taken jumps off of 10 foot high surfaces and haven't blown any, however for some reason the chrome has flaked off of the shock shafts, they don't seem to leak though. :)
I need to buy another bearing because one is FUBAR, but I was home today so I worked on the pede. I installed some adjustable tierods from my Evader, and am going to work on making a metal plate for the motor plate, I hate the way the screws will make a groove when I tighten them down a lot in the plastic, making it hard to mesh the gears well. I will get pics later.
EDMONTON
03-20-2003, 11:12 PM
yea I thought of that metal plate to, but havnt got around to it yet. I think it would act as a heat sink if you built it out of aluminum. I work in a welding shop so Ill look around tom., maybe i can make one this weekend.

03-20-2003, 11:49 PM
I did make mine out of aluminum, but it is so small there will be no difference in temperature, I run cool as it is.
Also, to make your truck run cooler, you can cut part of the garbox half off, as you may already know. I did that, never really noticed a difference because I switched setups and motor, but it works good, looks less toy like too.

what motor are u using inyour pede? imusing p2k2 pro but its way too hot when used in reverse so I will put it in bx when it comes in and put the photon in the pede to save some $. I only gear for torq anyway. Actually midrange is where i like my power. I used the photon in the pede before but I used some REAL stiff springs in it and it wore out real quick. Went crazy fast for a 20turn though. Left in stock form it gives enough tork to break the wheels loose, youre not goin to break land speed records but I use my pede in some serious off road terrain so speed is not an issue.

Just took the pede out tonight. Theres still snow out but i was careful(yea right). I switched everything over to deans and man what a difference. No more hot esc, motor and wires. A little bit better run times too. I swear the pede had more punch for the first minute too. I ran it on the road in front of my place cause thers no snow there, just puddles. Once u get the hang of soldering a couple of deans plugs, the rest are easy. I cant imagine putting a a hotter motor than my p2k2 pro cause once the snow melts its back in dirt. the thing was doing donuts and burning out on pavement with a 81t spur and 18t pinion. Didnt do that last year before mods. Didnt know p2k2 pro had that much torq and good run times too. bout 10 minutes with sanyo 1800's at full throttle. What a blast. I was gonna get a rally car today but no anymore. The pede is still the funnest rs to bash.:D

I did some jumping today too. We got a new freezer, and i was using the cardboard propped up on half a concrete block, and was hitting it full speed. It wasnt to bad when i had my 13 tooth on,and seemed to so pretty good besides a couple of nose dives, but when i swithched to the 18 tooth, i would hit it wide open, and it nose dived bad enough that it would flip about 4 times, and then land on the wheels. I kept on the throttle in the air which may not have helped anything, but im not sure.It sure took some really hard hits to the front end,and it flipped sideways about 3 dif. times, but i never tore up anything.I thought i was going to rip off the body though because on one landing, after flipping a few times, it threw out 3 body pins, and the body was twisting and flooping around, but all it got was a few scratches.I was jumping on black top too. It was really fun though, and the pede showed me today that it would take a lickin and keep on tickin.:D ;) :p

Usually having the throttle on while in air brings your rear end down, not nosedive. It could have been the way you have the jump setup...

I think thats about it... Soon to be hop ups include, RPM carriers with 5x11 bearings, and thats about it, what would you guys say?
Now i ran it today for the first time, and was a bit disapointed...
I thought the top speed would be awesome, and it would pull wheelies like no ones buisness! But it didnt :(
I was disapointed in the top speed, and there was nothing close to wheelies :( , but maybe my slipper is loose, i thought i tightened it, but maybe not...
What do you guys think?
About what should my top speed be? and should i be doing wheelies? i would think so, but ive never owned a pede before...
Though i think my gearing might be a little tall, or maybe alot... im not sure exactly what it is, but i think its 18/87, that is too tall, isnt it? But if it is, shouldnt i have great top speed, just poor accel? Or am i all mixed up? lol... What gearing would you all reccoment with my set up? 15/87... with that i should get wheelies, i would think so at least... Also the batts i was running wernt great, just 1500 packs, nothin special at all, that might be cutting down performance too...
Its also a possibility that the motor needs a rebuild, the guy that i got it from said he didnt know how many runs were on it(the motor), but it couldnt have been many, cause when i got the truck it hardly had any wear at all!
Next, when i was driving once in a while my truck would just stop, and "jiggle"(lol) around a little, and i wouldnt be controlling it... what could that be? The radio is just a cheapo Futaba AM, but ive never had problems like that before with that radio... could it be the Alum ESC plate i made? I just took a sheet of alum and cut it out, then mounted it, and mounted the ESC on, exact same as the RPM one, just aluminum... would that cause this annoying "jiggling"?
So, to sum it all up, to make it easier on you, here are my questions all summed up for your convenience....
1. Besides the hop ups i listed, what would you guys reccomend?
2. With my current set up, about what would the top speed be, and should it be doing wheelies?
3. With my current set up what gearing would you guys reccomend for good torque and top end?
4. Whats causing my truck to "jiggle" and i cant controll it? (it just did it like 8 times for about 3 seconds each time, it almost seems like cogging in a brushless motor, thats about how it is, if you know what that is)
5. Add any more comments or suggestions please!
Thanks for reading, its appreciated!
Peace,
Jordan

Cummins,
for about 10 bux you can find a traxxas 2055 metal gear servo, its from the Tmaxx, its to weak for the maxx, but its great for the pede... other people that have been using them have said that they work great in the pede, and dont strip very easily at all...
Just 10 bux, you have probobly spent 10 bux on new gears for your standard by now, it will save you $ in the long run, not to mention its a stronger servo!
BUT, if you just absolutley wont get a new servo then yes a Kimbourough may help... ive heard the stock servo saver is too stiff, thats why it strips standard servos pretty easily...buy a softer one from Kimbourough, though for 5 bux(plus shipping if you get it off the net, or plus tax at your LHS) your more than halfway to buying a new servo...

Cummins, I suggest you go get a steering setup similar to mine, a Hitec 625 MG and a kimbourgh servo saver, this setup works awesome. The 625-mg has more than enough torque and just right speed for the stampede :D
Rustler Hustler- I'd suggest getting the RPM bearing carriers all the way around, and a large rpm bumper. That is pretty much it. (Unless you have probs with your idler, then get a metal one.) I'd think the reasons why your top speed is sucking and same with bottom end is in your motor. Inspect the brushes and comm, maybe give it a swipe with a commstick. It may just be you need a new motor. I had a monsters of touring myself, and it didn't last me very long. I'd suggest you Pick up either a Trinity chameleon pro motor, or a trinity speed gems pro motor (I'd say 15-19 turns). These are awesome, but budget minded, motors :D For gearing I'd say you should be around 16/87, but there shouldn't be that much performance drop with 2 teeth up, I can run 21/87 with my chameleon and still be fine :)
I'm also gonna suggest some new batts for you, as I found once I upped to high quality stuff (no more cheapie 1500s) that I seemed to get better performance etc. I'd suggest you pick up some GP 3300s from www.promatchracing.com , or, if you dont have a Ni-mh capable charger, go for some good quality 2400s :)
As for the jiggling thing you have me somewhat stumped there, just check your suspension and make sure your C-hubs etc are in one peice. Just give the truck a look through :)

Does anyone know if the mashers (not 2k) are the same size as the traxxas ones. I know the 2ks are taller and i know they have the best traction but I dont like the look. I like the the width and size of the traxxas ones but want softer rubber. If the mashers are pretty much the same dimensions Ill get them asap.thanks:)

EDMONTON, First off. I dig the pede. Jeep Body looks nice. Wish my pede looked that cool.
Second. The tires are just a bit taller then stock pede tires. They are really good. If ya get anything get Imex Pullers

The Imex are my favorite looking too but ive never seen them inCanada. They would probably take a while to order from my lhs and be expensive. Are the mashers as tall as the 2ks cause I dont want them that tall.

My friend came over the other day and we were beating around our trucks. Unfortunately I stripped another idler the day before, so I used my T3.
He wanted to get his truck wet, so he got an idea to put two small pieces of aluminum alongside his chassis, and it kept all his electronics dry for the water he went through!

What kind of speed and torque should i be getting with a new 15t speedjems motor, and 15/87 gearing?
Yeah, i figured out last night, that motor needs a comm cut, and new brushes... but i dont have a lathe... :( Im thinkin about buying one... you guys think its worth it?

Pudder those are sweet pics dood.. i can't believe you got that thing so wet and it kept on going :)
Rustler Hustler.. I pulled easy wheelies with my new 16T Double Trinity Caliber motor... 18/87 gearing.. stock tires.. Deans plugs through and Sanyo 2400's. When I had my 14T Speed Gems 2 Onyx in there I couldn't pull wheels on a 20/84 gearing but that's not surprising.. geared way too high for a 14T. I could do wheelies straight til I dumped the pack too with the Caliber. I was very impressed... too bad Its not rebuildable.
Now for a Homemade wheelie bar.. Anyone have any input? What kind of aluminum is good? Should i just screw it onto the bottom of the skidplate with the original screws?

Well, as I remember, the monsters of touring motors aren't rebuildible, so your either off to buy a new motor or find some way to disect it. Dont bother buying a lathe unless you really need otherwise it is just a waste of money. Whenever I need a comm cut I just pull the whole motor out, clean it and the hobby shop will cut it for a few bucks :) My motor was originally a speed gems pro 15x2, but, after a lot of chorrosian I decided to swap it out for a chameleon armature. I found with the 15x2 armature around 16/87-18/87 was about right, and I didn't have much of a problem wheelieing, top speed was great too :D
On my pede I was having a problem where it would flip on its lid, I made a rear aluminum skid plate that acted as a wheelie bar and works fine (Just ignore the little peice on then end, I took that off, threw the balance off).

Is any one interested in a aluminum skid set? Me and a buddy made a set for ours. We make them from 2 inch wide 1/8 inch thick aluminum, The front one is 3 inch long the rear is 6. When you buy them you make your own holes and I can polish them or leave them the way they where. I am asking 15.00 + Shipping for a set of them that are not polished. 20.00 + Ship for polished ones. Please E-Mail me @ SuperChargedGeo@aol.com for pics.

Hey Geo,thanks for the offer but I started cutting new treads in my rear tires and I like the way it looks. The tires are also more flexible now. Guess Ill find out soon enough if theyre any good cause the snow is almost gone. Ill post pics when im done. Man it takes forever so im not doin the fronts till the rear ones wear out.
Pudder, Holy ****. How your friend didnt fry that stinker Ill never know but that sure looked like fun. Makes me want to put my stinger in and go muddin but thats TOO MUCH cleaning evenn for me. Oh and pudder, when u were using your evader shocks in your pede, what springs were u using? I think my pedes needs weaker ones than the yellow ones. Doing that much in water of corse is horrible for your motor, it needs a really good cleaning, and most likely new brushes/comm cut afterwords.
EDMONTON- I used the stock springs with 25 wt oil. I found it too soft for my liking since I usually just jump the pede, for cruising it is alright. I tried some one hole pistons and 25 wt oil with stock shocks, I like it a lot better then with evader shocks, but as I said, I mostly do jumping and that stuff.

Well, I ran the pede on a track for the first time on Sunday. It handles pretty well but I need more speed. Good landings off the jumps too. No bouncing. I bought a 20t pinion from the track hobby shop to try to get some speed, but it wasnt enough. When you guys talk about steel outdrives, you mean the short piece sticking out of the side of the tranny right. Mine are steel already and one of them came off twice while at the track. All problems aside, it was a lot of fun. Iwas the only electric truck there. After about 3 batts of practicing, I could keep up with some of the gas stadium trucks though the technical stuff. Once we hit the straits I was sucking fumes. I put foam inserts in the tires last week and im not sure if the traction is better or worse. They are so hard to get in that I didnt want to take them out just to find out that it sucks without them. What do you think? Im running the original Mashers. Later.

Not to put the pede down as a fun truck- but it is one of the crappiest trucks to race in my opinion. :p
I should have a video of my friends waterpede soon.
k_sw31
03-26-2003, 01:14 AM
Yeah the pede isn't exactly the best racer, it looked okay out there (I've had it out at the track a few times) compared to some Tmaxxs but once some stadium trucks got out there, my pede sorta looked like an advanced radioshack toy (Ok, I'm exaggerating and some of it was my driving also :p). :)

Speaking of shocks and springs, I got a brain buster. I have big bores with 35 wieght in em with the stock springs and some 3 holers. I was jumping yesterday off the top of a hill with my 16 in it. It got about 30 feet of air (not even joking) and landed a good 50 feet away. (this is a real steep hill) I don't think it matters what I do but no matter what it bounces over on the lid everytime. I think there is just too much shock. Anyone have any comments on this one????
EDMONTON
03-26-2003, 06:20 PM
A pede class of racing would kick ass. U would never have to maintain the track, the rougher the better. Now that would be awesome. I can just see the landings now. u could build REAL big ass jumps and the pede would just soak it up not like a stadium truck. :D
k_sw31
03-26-2003, 06:30 PM
In general from what I have seen, a dialed in stadium truck will handle the jumps and the rough stuff a lot better than a properly setup pede :) A pede class would be sorta fun but I'd have more fun racing my T3 :D

yeah i couldn't see myself racing a pede.. but then again I dont have a stadium truck either.. i just race on-road :)
The thing i can't get over is how damn easy it is to flip it. The fact that this thing wheelies all the time is kinda driving me nuts now.. i really gotta get that wheelie bar cuz the thing wheelies onto its back all the time.
Today I was driving it around in the back alley jumping it off stuff for about 3 minutes at lunch before I had to go back to work.. I put like 3 new brutal cracks in the crappy traxxas body.

It sounds like you have a bad cell in that pack, so, unless you want to tear the pack apart, find the dead cell and replace it, your off to pick up a new pack. I suggest you pick up a high cpacity pack, more runtime :D

Well, I put my receiver in my rx box thats mounted on my homemade chassis, so a rx box isn't really an option for you (before hand I had it ziptied to the side, it didn't work that well :p). I'm not sure where you should mount it (but I know you can pick up extensions for those wires) but I wouldn't mount it on the bottom, too vulnerable. If you do mount it on the bottom, be sure to make some sort of guard for it :)

Well thats where I had it originally mounted, on the bottom, crystal Broke off:(:( And the other receiver I got has a really short antenna, which is already a problem because, It was jerking and everything not too far away, so When I mount it on the bottom, its just gonna get worse reception, now I gotta buy a new one for my Bandit...

first off...
Cummins, you may not be able to get a 2055 for 10 at your LHS, but ive seen em on abay for 10 bux Buy It now with bout 2 bux shipping...
Or check forums, i have seen em as low as 5 bux! :)
Rustlerman1,
The reason your motor is getting slow is because it needs a rebuild/and or cleaning...
You most likely need to install some new brushes, and need to cut the commutator on a lathe...
If you dont know what any of that means, do a search and you will find alot of info...
As for holes in the back of your batts, i have also had that happen...
Usually it means you have a wire crossed somewhere and you are shorting out the batt, or there is a point of very high resistence somewhere and your batts are getting really hot...
Peace,
Jordan

You don't really need turnbuckles. I had the Traxxas ones, it made the suspension a lot more fragile for some reason. Stick with RPM links.
