I am thinking of buying a AE Factory Team RC10B3. I want good speed but also power, what radio, ESC, motor, servos, ext. should i get???
How much money do you have? Radios and servos can be very expensive...but without cares to price go with this equipment:Hitec Lynx 3D FM( 3 different version), mod motor(Reedy Ti), or if you want a stocker buy Reedy MVP. The servo i use in my T3 is a Hitec/RCD 605BB servo. This is an excellent servo with a super low price. Prob' is that you have to modify the case...with a nail file. Only in one place though, and not by much. If you dont car about price buy a Futabu servo S9404, S9402. If you want to use Ni-Mh batteries in your car(which I absolutely HATE because of the responsability) you will need a high end ESC. Novak Cyclone, atom...or wait for the new C2's. If you dont have the money, then go with a Futabu MC330CR esc...best mid-level ESC i have ever had. Also, if you plan on running Ni-Mh batteries buy either the Duratrax Intellipeak charger( 4 different ones) or wait for the release of the Novak Ionic. This should just about cover it...any questions? just post 'em or email me at ftt3@AOL.com

I have about $425 which leaves About $200 for the gear after i buy the kit(Price:214.99). Would a Novac Rooster be good? What motor?
Servos?
ok, ok, got some idea with what i have to work with...now, when are you planning on buying this car? Tower hobbies can save you a lot of money... A good motor would be a Orion Chrome RS, or a Reedy MVP. Servo's eh? A standard works fine in my T3, so it wouldnt be bad in a B3. DO you have any stuff to begin with? Any parts? Just to make it simpler. There are some nice radio+esc combos out there...just better to know.

i would go with either a Fantom Epic Based Stock motor, or a Trinity Green Macine 3.... if you go with the Fantom use a 22 pinion, if you go with the Green Machine use a 20.... (around 35 bucks)
as far as servo's go.... the Futaba 9404 rocks for a 1/10th buggy... it has more than enough torque, and is really fast..... (around 75 bucks)
now for esc's..... the Novak Cyclone rules (around 130 bucks)... but if you don't have the cash for it, the next step down in price points would be the Novak Dually (around 100)... neither of these have reverse.... so if you are looking for a reversable esc, a Rooster will work great and is quite a bit cheaper, but it can't handle really hot mod motors....

I am planning to buy it and i have no stuff yet... i want good speed and tork i can have a modified motor.
Dang AOL...friggin' hate it...typed up a lot of stuff for you to no avail, signed me off...here i go again...
Car: Associated RC10B3 FT 214.99
ESC: Futabu MC330CR (runs super ultra cool with a 13-turn motor limit) 69.99
Motor: Reedy MVP (super powerful)29.99-34.99
Pinion Gear: no idea at the moment...motor will start shipping soon. up to 4.39
Radio: Futabu 2PC(includes a servo that will be alright until you can upgrade to a better one)54.99
Plus batts and charger...lets see now...374.35...Now lets find you a batt and charger
MRC 819 Super brain 39.99 now at 414.34 batts here we go...
I would recommend the TRINITY MAXX PAXX. 42.99
Which brings you to... 457.33 ...about. and 6.99, minus $10 cause you spend over a lot of money...
Grand total for one sweat car: 454.32 roughly that much. check that i added the prices correctly
now whats the add number...to get $10 off...dangit. My friend is borrowing the Tower Hobbies mag i had with has the special #...give me till tomorrow to find out. Oh, by the way, all those prices are from Tower Hobbies...

Listen man, if you are a newbie, you wont need a Cyclone or super fast high torque servo (I have a XXX and have been using a standard servo for over a year and doing very well with racing stock). Plus, go for a stock motor unless you are a REALLY good driver and want to do serious racing and winning with the mod.

i think a metal gear servo is almost a "must have" on a B or T-3.... that's why i listed a half way decent metal gear servo... the stock servo saver leaves a ton to be desired.... and has a rep for tearing plastic geared servos to shreads in no time flat....

I am thinking of a JR Racing XR3 FM (75 MHz) with JR Z250 servo, and a Trinity P2k Pro stock motor...what ESC under $65???
[This message has been edited by RC-Eagle (edited 03-03-2001).]
Hmm, unless you already have batts and charger!
[This message has been edited by Isky (edited 03-05-2001).]
you have to buy a good battery and charger. You dont want one of those 15-minute chargers. and you shouldnt buy a crappy 1400mah pack, unless you want super short runtimes. Dont buy that motor, it has bad efficiency...the JR XR3 costs 170...
215
170=thats already 385

R/C Car Kings sells the FT B3 for $199.99 it is in R/C Car Action the # is 1-800-707-5464.You can put the $15 toward something else.I use the JR NES-4735 for my B3 and it is the best darn servo I have bought to date.I was a loyal 605 buyer but not any more.I use a Green Machine 3 in my car and it is great I blow away P2K's all day.Even with B3's using the P2k I beat them also Losi's equiped with it also cant keep up.I also use a Tekin Rebel and I plan on changing it out for a Cyclone in the future but I dont really need to.I use a TC3 clip on heat sink on my B3 to help in the cooling of my motor (duh??)It is the wide one and it does its job great. Not that the GM3 gets very hot but it keeps things in check.I hope I helped you with at least saving a few bucks good luck and man you chose the best car for your money!!!!!!!SWEET!!!!
Buy a Reedy MVP. Should be out soon. It will be a lot faster than any motor out!

Is this a good setup???
- RC10B3 Factory Team
- JR XR3 Radio
- Novak Reactor
- Orion Chrome Dyno Tuned Motor
- Deans 2-Pin Ultra Plugs
- Pinion Gear 22 Tooth
- Deans Wire 12-Gauge 2'
Total : 524.85

I have a charger and batts. already! I am thinking of a Novac Reactor ESC, is that good???
-Reactor $90
-JR XR3 $170
-RC10B3 F.T. $215
TOTAL = $475
I think i can save up to $500 so that leaves me with about $25 - $30 bucks for a motor...what motor?

SOME ONE PLEASE ANSWER!!!
Ok, ok, jeez...chill...use a 20 tooth pinion. or was it 19?? Go with either...

Yes, good setup, but I would get a Reedy MVP. Also, 14 gauge wire is easier to work with and almost as efficient, you'll never notice a difference.

I just picked up a copy of R/C Car and read their review of the MVP. I still want it badly, but I wish it had hideaway capacitors like my GM3...

So go with a 21 Tooth pinion???
FLYBOY7
03-07-2001, 01:31 PM
hey nair.....don't ya think you should have at least owned the motor before you go recommending it??
about gearing on a B-3... they list a gearing chart in the back of the manual, and also on their web-site.. gearing will depend a lot on track conditions ect... and you will probably want to be several different sizes (you will use them all over time i promise).... but for most stock motors on average length tracks... you will be looking at using around a 20-22 tooth pinion...
Nairb
03-07-2001, 04:03 PM
No, I think there's nothing wrong with me recommending it. I'm absolutely sure it will be a good motor. If I'll recommend it to myself, I'll recommend it to someone else. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Moving to "vehicles" forum. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
The Reedy MVP will be an awesome motor...not as good as a Maxtec Shockwave, but it will manage.

the add number for march for towerhobbies is 011A8 that takes 10 bucks off any order over $125.00. So, it takes car of the shipping, and gives ya 4 extra bucks.
There is now a $15 ad number. dont remember it though, heh.

..dont order the xr3!!!!! the lynx3dfm costs about $10 more but includes more features, nicads, charger for nicads, and a dual conversion crystal which is as good as a PCM radio. All that and its only $10 more...its much better.

Bringing this back from the dead.... almost one year now... anyways... my story.
I just bought a FT B3 for 50 shells and it came as a roller... now in my head a roller means that it should roll but I guess in hobbie speak that means that it doesn't come with wheels or tires... that's fine christ I paid close to 1/2 price for it... but anyways yes I need tires and wheels... when in the wide world of sports do I find the front rims? the rears a dime a dozen. next the manual says to use M2'z for front tires... does anyone have any recomendations? the rears are already sorted.
Shock oil? the manual doesn't mention what weight to use... does any one have an ideas?
Motor... luckly there's an Ebay and I got a bunch of motors Reedy Spec 19t, GM3 and a P2k2 they are all used so I'm getting them cut this week but what spring and brushes should I get? Next I see that the big hit would be to get 19, 20, and 21 pinions how about spur gears? I'm checkin out the chart in the manual but ppl mentioned to use a 20 tooth pinion on a stock motor so I'm not sure what ppl are doin... anyways... thanks for the help in advance

well, the only gears i use are:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXS457&P=7
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXS458&P=7
I use the robinson absolute series pinions. They are real light and strong, and i have had them for 3 years. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVSEARCH=absolute&FVPROFIL=++
What do you race on? Or do you just bash? because then i can help you with the tires.
Well, below are white wheels:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUJ12&P=7
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUJ13&P=7
For brushes, I'd start with reedy 767's on the reedy motor and the P2K2. For the gm3, try the 4499 brushes by trinity:
4499: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXJY33&P=V
767: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX2434&P=7

how about racing? I'm thinking of racing in stock class its an indoor track so the straights aren't/shouldn't be too long say 40ft tops jumps shouldn't be too tall either due to its shortness
