in other words, you have to be a hardcore racer to enjoy the xray and it's many tuning featuers. You also need to be able to spend a lot of the time trying different things (which im just starting to scratch the surface of.) The tuning book that comes with the xray is incredible and it's theories can be applied to any car not just the xray. Good luck...it seems like this car would be above your head at this point.

I bought my XRay from some guy on ebay. Everything works fine with it, but the guy swanked me out of the setup book, and password to get into the VIP club. Does anyone know How I can get either of the two? Thanks.

An even better tuning guide is the book by XXX Main called Touring car Chassis tuning. It thoroughly describes all the different adjustments and WHY they do what they do. It's 20 bucks for a small book but I thought it was very well written. It describes 5 or 6 different handling scenarios and which adjustments will do what. If you aren't an expert I think you would benefit a lot from this book. Good Luck.

I was thinking the book by XRay would be better because all the information would pertain to my car. The XXX guide will probably be easyer to get though.

Josh, I will email you a pdf of the setup book. Although its 800K, can you email handle that?

Devin

Umm...ok, well I lied. Its 2.5 megs. The instruction manual is 800K. The pdf setup book that is on mytsn is kinda outdated too, I think it's for the T1 not the evo II. I would contact someone to see if you can register for the x-ray VIP room on mytsn. Maybe serpent USA?

Devin, I dont see why my email wouldnt be able to handle the file, I would be more worried about the time it would take for you to send it to me. I know it took a loooong time to send attachment with my old aol, Im not sure if it goes any faster with broadband. If you have the time, I would be very appreciative if you sent it to me. Rdud, it sounds like we dive alike, smash and crash:D I have hit alot of boards and have only broke one part. It was a particularly nasty crash, I was at top speed coming down the back straight, and kind of forgot what I was doing. BAM, I hit the wall straight on. The only part I broke was the shock shaft, a simple and cheap part to replace. Before buying the XRay T1 or evo 2, wait to see what the are about to release. It might be a cheaper version, but I think it will still cost about the same.

The T1R is supposed to be half the price as the evo2, and the info for the car should be on the xray web page tomorrow. 14th. That is supposed to be the scheduled release date.

Just go to teamxray.com and click on contact and send xray an e-mail explaining your situation with a used Xray. I did that and they gave me access to the VIP room. Very good customer service!! I just received the car and am just beginning the tuning process. You can download the set-up book from their site. Here is the link: http://teamxray.com/teamxray/products/proddwnld.php?prod_id=446&kategoria=0

Good link.. I forgot to go to the xray website for the setup book, mytsn has them also, but it's 2.5 megs unzipped. The evo II is 540K pdf unzipped. Im sure that you can contact xray (serpent in USA) and get access to the VIP site on mytsn.

They just wanted to make a cheaper less complicated kit for beginners. I really like the Evo 2, but I can't afford the 330 price tag. If the T1R is cheaper, which it should be I may pick one up.

I also understand that the car will be on the same price line as a tc3 or a losi xxxs and it comes with a composite Chub setup thay are still going to make the the ev2.

The best car I have ever worked with, the build is excellent and all the parts fit together spot on. Set up is easy, just follow the guide book. My son has been racing for Centre Point Racing Team here in the UK, we have done the summer National Series and TORC, and have almost finished the Winter Nationals and the car has been excellent. Not one problem so far.:D

team yo mama was a high performance racing duo that pretty much dominated everywhere she went.(something similar to the dudly boys) but alas one of the team-mates has a college career and the other has a mortgage, wife, two kids, 401k, time share property.....but don't count her out yet! the street mama( that's me) is going to try her hand at dirt racing this weekend at rosewood in nc.

it would be to comemerate the 5th year the street mama and the dirt mama has been together.

So any body have a good setup for asphalt and take off tires. The track that I run at we are going away from foams and starting to run takeoffs

Devin
02-21-2003, 08:14 AM
Check out the setups on the xray VIP section of mytsn. I ran takeoffs and the only thing I really changed from the base setup was -1º rear camber instead of -1.5 and -1 rear toe for the rear..everything else I kept the same and gave me good results. Course I have upgraded a lot for carpet racing so i'll have to retest for a road course.

Dr. Techno,
I bought a set of the composite C-hubs from Jimmy who sells them on ebay and will let you know my humble opinion as soon as I get a chance to use them. The price ha has them for is a bargain-My local shop said they would be more like $75 when they get them. It may take a while though, I haven't had a lot of time to get to the track lately. I can't say I'm in a hurry to change anything either-I'm using the setup you recommended for SoCal with some minor changes to soften up the rear and my car is locked on. Everyone was complaining yesterday about how slippery it was but I had no such problems. I'd like to think I was getting better at driving!

BTW, How was your trip to Japan?

Scrad-twenty bucks extra for both set of suspension is a steal-I definitely would have opted for that.

Hi ronvdp,

I know Jimmy. Didn't know it was him so I'll just ask him for a set to try on. He's got my new T1R, (mine had the pivot balls) and is doing something to it last week. Hmm? I wonder when he got those Composite C-hubs in.

I did alright in Japan, but Jimmy did better and walked away with $$$$ and girls. I only managed to come in 6th of 32 racers. Still in the top 10 though.

You're lucky! and I envy you! :p

About the setup. I'd run 0 toe-in front, -1 front camber, -2.5 rear camber, 2 rear toe-in adjust droop depending on the shocks and springs you're using. I run the front one-way pro and it'll scream around corners and nobody can catch me! But with the one-way, you might want to install the Solid Center Layshaft. There's a ton of set-ups at the VIP Forum. But then, you know that because you have kit and you're a member. :p :p

Oh well, .....

Scrad
02-25-2003, 10:47 PM
I don't have the kit yet. And I got it from Jimmy off e bay. I e-mailed Ralph Burch and he said that the new kit will be in the states in 7 to 10 days and cost the same as the kits now. So who really knows when they will get distributed around. I paid a little more than it will cost when it gets here, but hey I'm the 2nd person besides Jimmy to have the car yet in the states. Does the regular diffs with the oneway bearing loosened work good on carpet?

I love running a one way up front and the solid alum mid shaft, it turns very quick now...so much that I have my duel rate down to 65% for steering. My front and rear sway along with my spring steel front drive hubs will be here tomorrow. Can't wait to get them installed and to see how the Xray will handle after that.

The associated springs should work fine. Make sure they are the same length as the Xray or this could effect ride height.

How do you guys clean your bearings? I have the high speed option bearings. Do you remove the dust shields?

Dr. Techn0
02-28-2003, 02:38 PM
Hi Devin,

I've found that you do not need to remove the covers. What I do is :

1st method, flush the bearings thoroughly with motor cleaner, let sit on towel until dry. very lightly lube with trinity bearing oil and rotate afterward. You'll feel the bearings will spin like crazy after you clean them but before you add lube. Then, it'll not spin as much after you lube but will last.

2nd method, use Integy holder (that blue thingy you fill with motor cleaner) and let it vibrate for 20 minutes, then let dry and lube.

Either way will work. I've head people will flush them out and spray WD-40, then mount them on the wheel and blow them out with a compressor so just enough WD-40 is in the bearings and they swear by it.

:)

Scrad
02-28-2003, 02:39 PM
I don't know what the x ray bearings look like yet, haven't gotten my kit yet. But on my losi bearings I would take the shield off and clean the out with motor spray, then blow then with the compressor and then put some lube in them. Easy as 1,2,3.

RC-ZOMBIES
02-28-2003, 02:47 PM

On the blue sealed bearing on the Xray..the shield can't be removed. very difficult to remove and once removed..can't be put back. :(

Scrad
02-28-2003, 02:53 PM
That's why I said I didn't know. :) But now I do...

What kinda gearing are you guys using for a Monster Horsepower motor. I had to get a 96 tooth 64 pitch spur, since I don't run 48 pitch except on my offroad stuff.

Dr. Techn0
02-28-2003, 03:41 PM
The XRAY bearings covers are tighter then others because they had a problem with it falling off. So it'll be hard to pry them open and if successful, then it', it'll scar the surface or sometimes it'll bind the bearings inside.

Guys,

What makes and types of foam-mounted wheels arey you guys using on your Xrays???

I need to buy some wheels with foam tires mounted on them. I looked in few places and I found at least 3 different tire mounting systems.

I have XRAY EVO 2. Can I fit wheels by TRC they say that their wheels

'Fits any popular brand (ASSOCIATED, HPI, TRC) 1/10 scale on-road type car that uses a 3/8" outer diameter bearing.'

what is this 3/8" thing???

Nex, TRC does also wheels wich:
"Fits any popular brand (ASSOCIATED, HPI, TRC) scale on-road type car that uses the standard (.6" gap from bolt to bolt) 1/10 scale four bolt pattern.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...p?&I=LXJM59&P=0

what is this four bolt pattern??

CAn I buy those wheels?? will they fit XRAY

Associated does those wheels http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...p?&I=LX3053&P=K what car will they fit?? WHat mounting system are those wheels? What car will they fit??

Are there any adapters available which would enable fitment of lets say 4-bolt pattern to 12mm hex hubs??

Arrows tires do those good looking and not expensive foam-mounted wheels www.generalsilicones.com. Does any of you know where I can buy them on-line??

Thank you for all you help.

Devin
03-03-2003, 10:23 AM
I run TRC foams on my Xray (mostly Double purple and purples) but you need to find them that has the hex configuration that normal Touring cars have. Check this out for info, I run the tires on the top of the page. If they have holes, generally they are for 1/10 and 1/12th style pan cars. (my 1/12th scale uses them)

http://www.teamtrinity.com/tires/trc.asp

As for the bearings, I sometimes feel it's hard to get all the junk out without taking off the shields, but that does screw up the surface. Flushing/drying/oiling I guess is the only solution. For oiling, you just put the oil on the seal and rotate it, than whipe it clean? Do you lube both sides?

For gearing for the monster stock pro im running 124 and 36 +/-1 (64 pitch) for indoor carpet racing..this gives me good reponse of torque and speed.

I raced yesterday and had excelent results with my xray.. 4th in the A main.

I am going on holiday this summer to Indonesia - Jakarta, and I am thinking to buy a Xray T1Racer. But I am thinking to wait and buy the beautifull car in Jakarta (maybe it is alot cheaper compared to in Holland) instead of buying it here.

that is the T1 not the evo 2. I can tell by the rear sides of the chassis they angle back differently than the evo 2.

M03 Mainiac

Yeah, it is the T1 not the evo 2. Thanks for your imput.
What are the main differences between the two and which is better.

Scrad
05-04-2003, 09:17 AM
Basically the chassis is different. You get more placement option on the Evo2. The bulkheads on the Evo2 have a built in belt tensioner. I think the bearings are differen't. Go to www.teamxray.com and check out the differences for yourself. Both are good cars, but the Evo2 is a little more advanced with user friendly options. The Evo2 Freedom of Choice is the best option. But you'll still be competative with a T1.

Hypocrisy
05-04-2003, 10:17 AM
The difference is that the Evo2 comes with X Rays own shocks that have the same lenght front and rear, ultratune shocktower both front and rear, new shock positions in the lower arms f & r, the bulkheads has a belt tensioner biult in, new thinner belts, and also the medium top deck + the japan chassis with 12 battery holes and the you have 2 accerman positions in the steering.

M03 Mainiac
05-05-2003, 07:41 AM
So is this the T1 or the evo 2 chassis?

Scrad
05-05-2003, 10:05 AM
That looks like the T1.

civicds
05-06-2003, 02:16 AM
that is deffinately the old T1 chassis i can tell just by the chassis because the evo 2 has 6 slots for the batts on each side the T1 does not.

Hypocrisy
05-06-2003, 08:46 AM
Also, the evo2 comes with semi-flex topdeck and the adjustable bulkheads which also have 2 more holes in the rear for antisquat adjustment..

Just wondering where you guys mount your transponders on the car.

Scrad
05-08-2003, 10:04 AM
Well I have the new version of the Evo2 that came with a transponter mount. So I drilled a small hole on the front bumper and put the mount up front. If I'm running a personal transponder I put it on top of my servo.

civicds
05-08-2003, 11:46 PM
I got the graphite front bumper plate and cut out foam bumper and mount a dummy transponder there. But while i'm racing i drilled a hole in the front windshield of the body and mount it there with a body clip. By the way I run a evo 2.

I take it the parts from the T1 will fit the Evo2 chassis or am I wrong on this one?I'm getting a T1 next week,I would also like to know where you guy's get your parts from. One more,is the C hub conversion worth doing? Thanks for any help

I get most of my parts on e bay or from stormer. As far as compatability most will interchage if not everything. I'm not positive though. The c hub is very nice and works well, but if your racing outdoors run the pillowball and use the c hub for carpet. The PB I think is more durable, but makes the car a little heavier. It is also very adjustable. It's a matter of preference.

Scrad, I could KISS you!! (dont worry i wont, you can cancel the refraining order!)

After reading your post last night on buying bits on eBay, i thought i'd have a look, thought it was a bit pointless but its worth a look, 4hrs later and i'd spent $265 on another Evo2!

The second i saw it i knew the fact that i couldnt really afford it would make no difference, an as good as new Evo2 with Alum C-Hub conversion, alum Piviot Pins and a Super Front one-way (which i'll probably never use) and a load of spares, its basically the Freedom of Choice model but with Alum C-hubs, and a better price too!

The main reason behind wanting it was that i'd like to try the C-hubs but at £155 for them over here (alum version) its WAY too expensive, but that kit just cost me £170!!
I've got a buyer for my oringinal T1 which i'll be adding a couple of evo2 items to, which im selling for £150.
So i'll have 2 Evo2s, one with C-hubs, the other with Pivot, and i can sell my T1.
Total cost to me should be something like $75

So thanks for that, i was willing to go to $350 on it too, but nobody dived in, so im very very happy with the outcome.

Chears for that,

How big of a difference is their between the T1 and Evo 2 performance wise, and what hop up parts would you recommend for the T1,I race on a small asphalt track, most of the time the traction is good,in the summer time it's sorex 36s or 40s,it's hot.

PC2K

I think the T1 to the Evo version is pretty similar, what you get with the Evo2 is the latest version of what they think is the way forward.
The new Freedom of choice version is stunning, rather than say we're giving you the C-hubs with it as we thing that may benifit more people, they've given both!

Essentially its the same car though, its not a newer model really, not like a Pro2 to a Pro3, or TA03 to 04 etc, its more like the TC3 racer to a Factory Team version.

For hop-ups, i think theres only the Roll Bridge thats something worth considering, its probably the first hop-up to consider, its a cheap one too, not a wallet killer, after that, i think its just a case of having a few bits spare, a couple of wishbones, and bumpers (upper and lower). After that, Alum Pivot Pin holders and Spring steel axels were my next buy.

The only other things i've bought are the Solid Alum Layshaft, new ball bearing kit (cant think of its correct name, its got a special coating on the balls) and an Internal Ratio Pulley kit (specially made, not an Xray part, it changes the ratio from 2.125 to 1.777 and it helps remove belt slip on the center shaft, and increases acceleration i beleive, my head goes dizzy when i try and work that one out!!)

Paul, good to hear that you got such a quality car for a great price. E bay does have a good selection on X ray parts.

The T1 and Evo2 are basically the same car. I gotta go eat, so I'll give some more of my input when I get back.

Ok the T1 is still competative. Basically the chassis and the bulkhead are different on the cars. The T1 also has sperpent shocks.

As far as hopups go get some springs for tuning and the roll center bridge. Sway bars would be good, but not neccessary. If something breaks on the T1 upgrade the part to a Evo2 part.

XRay just released info on their own pulley kit. Drops two teeth on the differential gears and increased two teeth on the layshaft gears. The kit comes with two diff gears, a one-way gear, labyrinth covers for all three, and the two layshaft gears.

Wow, i completely missed that one!
I was looking in the wrong place for it, i was looking above at the latest news bits not the publications.

The one we've had available through CML (the UK distributer) was a set of white pulleys.
I'll post a pic of it during the week, get the c-hubs installed and get some pics of the car then, i wasnt too sure about the idea of changing the internal ratio, afterall, what you change with the internal side, you can effect with pinions & spurs, so wheres the difference.
But i decided to give it a try and wanted to try and free the car up a bit more, and its worth buying, its not a cheap option considering all it is, but then i suppose you do get a the extra pully that some wont use (me!), it just seems expensive when you look at a few peices of plastic and a nice shiney aluminium hopup sat next to it!! (and of course you need the solid layshaft - so they say, im sure ive also seen it done on a standard before!)

I paid £55 for the pulley set, thats about $90, so i'd expect it to be the same price here when Xray package it, and about $75 for people in the states cos you get everything as good as half price!! (you try paying $33 for a protoline/HPI shell! :p)

HANG ON!!
Just noticed that you also get the labyrinth covers too! cough up even more British people!! You lot'll get it cheaper, im sure our prices are marked up to keep cost low for you lot in the states ;);)

The lower ratio pulleys are sweet, the car accelrates so much better, if you are running in the stock class then they are the best thing you can buy. Next is the c hubbs if you dont already have them.. third is a one way for the front if you are running on a big track. a set of springs are good to have too...
The evo2 is faster than the T1, it has more tuning possibilities, best thing is the shocks, they are smoother, and you have more springs to finetune the car with, i`m 2-3/10 of a second faster with my evo2 than with my old T1..

Backfire
06-03-2003, 09:32 AM
From what I understand, the benefit of the pulley set is not in the ratio itself, but the improved efficiency of the system. The larger layshaft pulley means less bend required from the belts. By increasing the size of the layshaft pulleys, there is less drag/frictional losses between the belts and pulleys, and the system is more efficient, transfering more power to the wheels. That is why the TC3 has such great acceleration, the shaft system is very efficient.

As was said earlier, the final drive ratio can be changed through the pinion and spur, so gearing probably isn't the reason behind it. Although with these new pulleys, you will need to run a pinion a number of teeth smaller to achieve the same final drive, just something to consider.

And I believe the X-Ray pulleys will be molded rather than machined like the white aftermarket ones. This should reduce cost significantly. Considering that the stock pulley retails for $3.95US each ,and the layshaft pulleys for $2.50US at the X-Shop, I would suspect that the new set would be close as well. 3x3.95 + 2x2.5=16.85, So I would guess somewhere around $20US for the new set.

hey, have any of you guys tried the proline fx (enzo) on the xray evo2? i'm quite disappointed that the shock towers are too high in the rear, i even removed the rear body posts and it still won't fit. maybe someone with an original t1 can tell me if they can fit it on with the smaller shock tower?

now i've got to drill a 2nd set of holes to fit on my tc3... there's 2 holes drilled up front, and 2 slits at the rear to slide the shock tower through, i'm using one of the shock angle holes to put a body clip through it.:(

I'll have a go at selling it, i have a trackside shop which i could try my luck with, if not, i'll drop it off at my LHS who've sold some shells for me over time.
I'll have a go at fitting it later on, and see how it looks :(

Nexus, I switched to the Xray from a TC3 and I found that the Xray is a way better car for me. The stock setup will be very close to what you will run and I found that the Xray is very durable compared to the TC3. Spares aren't that expenisve, but can be hard to find if your LHS doesn't stock parts. I bought spares after I got the car. But I've only broken a steering hub and hinge pin holder on my Pillow Ball T1. That was racing in a parking lot. Somehow I got a glitch and it sent me into the corner of a PVC pipe at full speed.

NoTiTo,

If you have the money, go for it. One thing I've learned from this hobby is that money spent on a better car now is less money in upgrades later. The one thing you'll have to becareful with on Xray is it has so many options, it easy to give the car a bad setup. Other then that, it's money well spent. No matter which car you have, you'll always be perfecting your driving so why not drive a McLaren on the way there if you can?

AudiTT-Quattro

My problem with them was that the caps are hard to get over the bladders, so it was hard for me to put them on with no air inside. Then, after the bleeding process, it said the piston shouldn't push itself out, and mine did, so I said screw it and put them on the car...

Haunted,

Thanx man. I'll see how things go or if I stumble into some cash. Otherwise I'll get oil shocks for the TT01 and practise, race and more practise.

One thing abt xray though is that they seem more user friendly in that you get a manual on how to do the setups and tunnings where with other cars I find you need to search for such info.

I installed a new Quantum Pro Reverse speedo in my Xray Evo 2 and flipped on the reverse and the bulkhead or bearing started smoking! It was from the left bulkhead, right near the bearing, not the one way bearing. Anyone else had this?

AudiTT-Quattro
08-15-2004, 03:57 PM
That's an odd one. The only plausable explanation I can think of is the bearing itself spun inside the plastic press fit holder. But you seemed to have ruled that out...

Can you reproduce the problem?

HauntedMyst
08-15-2004, 05:41 PM
I took it apart to see what was wrong, the bearing shattered! I think that's exactly what happened, the bearing froze, and then spun in the holder, which began to melt and then the bearing just shattered.

TC3B3L3T3GT
08-15-2004, 11:10 PM
Do you think it was due to reverse? That sounds kind of odd that the bearing would only want to spin freely in one direction.

HauntedMyst
08-20-2004, 12:26 PM
My guess is either I didn't seat it right or since it is an Evo 2, the bearing was just bad. Some of the Evo's had bad bearings in their shipments. I believe it was a bad bearing because when I had it in forward only, the transmittion was extremely free.

I have both a TC3 and an Xray and the xray is harder to set up. My question is, what about the TC3 is it that's making you have a hard time setting it up? Is it possible you've just dialed yourself out of a good setting? Both cars are equally competitive so I doubt switching will make you more competitive other then just naturally "clicking" with one car more then the other.

We got guys at our track here with less stuff runing with me, and no one here cant see why the car wont go fast. After $3K, it's time to try a new car! Though I'd still loan it to one of the fast guys at the track for a few weeks and see what they can do with it. Some times you just have to get your head out of the car for a while. That's what I did with mine and when I got it back, made the few adjustments recommended and it was killer.

As for the Xray, you'll like it from a materials stand point and the the fact that it's stronger then the TC3 but not to work on (though only marginally so). The only other car I'd consider is the Tamiya 415. It's as nicely made as the Xray, but with a lower CG.

Have you thought about bring down the spur to 96? i know HauntedMyst still uses the 48 pitch gearing... and its still fast... do all the guys who race the tc3 use 64 pitch? similiar gearing? i geared my tb02 using a 102t spur and it turned out slow... but just thinkin it could be your gearing...

I don't own one but it seems like a good car. It seems like they did the cost cutting in the right places and from what I've read, it's a good asphalt car.

I own one. It's a very nice car and aside from the slightly less tunability and weight, you can't tell the difference between the Raycer and T1FK.

well, with a little work, and a LOT of $$$, it could be a factory kit

AudiTT-Quattro

Then you would be MUCH better off starting with the T1FK. XRAY option parts aren't cheap and you can't blame them because of the amazing craftsmanship.

ya, but i just dont feel like spending all my money. Ill mostley race it against TC3's and XXXS's, and im going to do a ROAR regional. I just want something i know can win, and doesnt cost too much.

Anyone else have trouble accessing the Products/Parts Catalogue on myTSN? Oddly enough, I can't seem to find anything XRAY anymore, only Serpent/Hudy stuff...

Or if someone can help me out. I'm looking for the hollow steel layshaft and all the hardware. I'm wondering if the low ratio 1.77 pulley system will work with it.

A decent parts catalogue would be awesome. Need to get started on a camera car for carpet racing...

Ah, about the myTSN for XRAY...

I talked to Korgae about it, and apparently XRAY found it somewhat pointless and ambiguous. Oh well, at least I found it useful.

Well since Serpent no longer imports Xray, its no surprize they dumped them from myTSN. You could ask at the new Xray Forum at http://www.teamxray.com/xforum/index.php?sid=bbf02222903393c3eb8d2f5cd3c1f6d6

1. I have the belt tensioner. It works nicely.
5. I have broken a shock mount eyelet and the front upright. There is an impact absorbing front bumper #301201 which I installed and allows for more flex. There needs to be one for the top but they haven't released on.
6. Have you completely set up the car? Mine exhibited no understeer with 5 mm ride height, no rear toe, 1 degree front toe. In fact it handles like its on rails.

Wow! Didnt know you run an Xray. Just sold my Losi and am building a new XRay. Any tips for building? Thanks!

Wow, talk about dead forum. Anyways I was just wondering about running saddlepacks with the T1R. most of my batteries are in stick configuration and I don't relish the idea of resoldering all my batteries. What are my options?

AudiTT-Quattro

XRAY makes a stick pack conversion for their chassis. I haven't seen it on any XRAY chassis yet, mainly because I don't know anyone running stick packs on competition cars.

I don't think you can run stickpacks on a Raycer. The raised sides would make it difficult for the belt to clear the batteries.

Wrong thread Teddy?

XRAY never released the single belt prototype to the public, but I've got a custom one on my experimental XRAY.

It was an idea they tossed around back when the original T1 was introduced. Pictures were introduced but for whatever reason, they never carried it out (likely because of belt wear which the XRAY is said to be so gentle on.)
