For those that missed it in the TR-15 thread ...
Hey all! Back after 2 years of no RC
After a trip to the LHS looking at the new shiny RTR nitro cars I got all fired up (the price of new kit does that to me) & dragged out my one & only car - the TR15. Haven't used it for 2 years but amazed the hell outa me & fired up in only a few seconds! Got to run a tank through it before my glow starter thingy ran out of charge ...
Having all the same old problems though - stalling when braking from WOT & idling too high or not at all ... I need some good tuning page links please It's still running better than it was when I gave up on it though Right mix fuel I guess
Went back to the hobby shop for fuel & spied a Kyosho Inferno 10 in the 'junk' section ... complete with OS engine & all the bits apart from radio box & servos a rolling chassis for US$30 woohoo! Anyone know anything about them? And what are the 'stock' settings to get the engine running ... I dont know what kind of engine it is other that OS
Anyway - looking forward to lots of play time with my toys again
Here are some pics - first, my TR15 ... ignore the Tamiya rims & rubber more avaliable here than Kyosho anything

http://kev.dojak.com/images/DSC00144_1280.JPG
And the Inferno 10 ... mmm Aluminium bits 'n' pieces ... 'junk' in Japan means something different that it does back home - I'm not Japanese BTW

I've got the old inferno st and was wonderin if any of the parts of the mp7.5 were interchangeable. Right now my main concerns are the brake disks and the axles. I want to use the 17mm hex wheels on the car. As for the brake discs one melted and i need a replacement. But any suggestions to other parts that can be swapped would be awesome.
Thanks

Hi,
I have a MP7.5 K3 and I am sure I have seen some kyosho buggies with carbon fibre side plate protectors. Does anyone know if they are made for the K3, who makes them and what the part no: is????
Cheers

The old series which in this case the st is based on Inferno DX the parts arent interchangeable. But you should be able to put the 17mm hex and a brake disc directly from any other 1/8 buggy.I have a fleet of Landmax1 which is the same car as yours except for the arms,I am using standart discs from 1/8 buggies.

This is an Inferno MP-5 and MP-6 spur gear, to replacr it you need to get part number IF22 (standard plastic) or IFW3 (Optional Steel, see attached photo)

Hi marwankw;
I just bought the IF22, but is smaller, but I just get the manual for the turbo inferno, and I think the spur is the item BS11.
Many thanks

Hi, yes you're right its BS11 (plastic version) or BSW19 (steel version).
If you have a DX or DXII inferno and want to upgrade to BSW19 (steel version) then you need also to get BSW34.

Hi, That's a modified Turbo Burns, I can see that you installed one of the rear upgrades released for it ! the BSW43 front brake system.
At the end of the Turbo Burns life a special limited version of it was released, it was called "Turbo Burns Special Champion Car" I had the chance of having one of them, it included some unique upgrade such as:
1- BSW38 Rear Carbon Tower (see photo)
2- BSW-50 Front Carbon higher shock tower, will facilitate the installation of longer shocks in the front (same as rear length) for better suspension travel. (see photo)
3- BSW-43 Front Brake system. (see photo)
4- Wide tires in front and rear. (see photo)

Hi,
Just stumbled across this site and I'm chuffed to find others running older Kyosho buggies. I'm having trouble recognising my car which I bought secound hand 1 year ago, I have tunning problems every time I take it out...I almost gave up on it and started looking for an HPI (dare I say it) BUT this site might just keep me sane??
look forward to inferno chat and help.

Cheers for the id marwankw,
Do you know if the DXII camr with side plates attached to the chassis as most inferno's appear to have?
I an having a huge amount of trouble with teh GS21 engine its a tunning nightmare!!
I have set the needles to factory postions and I still have problems at idle and low end but I won't start another tunning thread here which I am sure most of you will be pleased about (however if anyone has had a lot of experiance with this engine I would be glad of a email exchange of info).
I was running 10% but now I'm on 16% the problem seems worse...does that make sense??
Cheers RM ...PS, has anyone else managed to split the crankshaft on a GS 21??

Hi,
Turbo Burns have the following differences:
-suspension arms
-front hub carrier
-chassis (longer)
-shocks
-shocks towers
- body & wing
-center diff housing
-crown gears and pinions

any 21 size engine will fit, only check your engine mount if it is the new or old version, the newer version has more holes.

Hi all,
Im trying to get my old Inferno (DX circa 1996) going again.......... main problems so far are:
1) After replacing the pull-start, my engine has no compression, so I suppose a new engine is in order, GS-21R a direct replacement, any other suggetsions ???
and
2) Anyone know a site where I can get the old 19mm hex wheels ? Specifically the ones that are flat and for slick foam tyres ???
This french site http://www.retromodelisme.com/news.html is pretty good for old manuals.........
I dont usually run it off road, much more fun lowering the suspension and running it round car-parks..........

Been SOOOOOOO long since I've been on these boards, let alone this thread that I started! Wow, really glad to see it still active! Too much happened to me since, as well. My Infernos have 'suffered' as a result, not really driven them anywhere NEAR as much as I used to. They still go, but it's more like a couple times a year (if that) rather than a couple times a month. I'm in a neighborhood now that it's not really a good idea to fire them up and bash around in the 'common' yard area. I might get away with the 1/16 gas cars, being a tad quieter. I could never part with my big boys, way too many memories -and I do mean many!! They'll make great static models in their retirement. It also warrants to mention my favorite goofing off activity. Put on some old, empty shocks on. If you don't wanna bottom out, lengths of fuel tubing on the shafts should do. Now run around on either street or field, and enjoy the bouncing! Bare rims make for awesome drifting on parking lots, to!

Hey everyone, quick question... I did some quick searching and didn't come up with anything, so I hope I'm not asking an old question.
I have an old MP-5 that runs great, but I've broken one of the front lower arms. I can't find a single place that carries any MP-5 parts, but I didn't expect to either. However, after looking around I found some Mp7.5 arms that look almost identical. Does anyone know if they'll fit?
I've been running around with a Savage X SS for the past year and I love it - but I miss my buggy... hope someone can help... thanks!

-turbo inferno Dx
-inferno mp5
-inferno mp5 limited
-inferno mp6 sport
-inferno mp6
-inferno mp6 international
-Gs storm buggy

Some or most the parts on the Gs storm fit pretty close to the inferno before the mp7.5 series. CVA's, bearings, gears, etc.

Just get BS65 it is a fuel tank that contains the flip top lid and it is original Turbo Burns tank, it is not discontinued since it's still used in a Kyosho Monster Truck called Giga Crusher (Single Force Version)
as for the wheels (BS58 and BS59) they are discontinued since long time and difficult to find.

hi all nitro buggy experts,
i acquired this kyosho buggy back in 1994 but it could be a few years earlier than that.
sitting idle for the last 10 years, i am thinking of selling it and would like to know what price it can fetch. so any help would be appreciated in identifying the various components and respective value.
so here is what i have:
Ko Propo EX5
buggy consisting of:
chassis length 41cm (1/8 model? pls help to identify)
OPS engine height 11.2cm (pls help to identify)
KO Propo servos ps-201s, ps-30bh
k&n filter
REX efra 019 exhaust
after reading through this thread, it could either be a kyosho burns or a kyosho turbo burns, but which 1 is it?
pls also advise if the engine starting mechanism can be converted to a pull start type while retaining the original engine. it is more convenient that way.

hi,
i wouldnt call it restoring becoz it is still working(just need to add in the battery packs for the tx and rx). what i'm interested in it trying to mod it.
here's what i'm thinking:
i read through this and other forums and seems like inferno and mp parts can also be used for burns. can you confirm that?
would current models parts be able to be used on the burns for upgrading? specifically, i'm referring to the transmitter, receiver, servos and engine mounts.
i'm having a ops engine on the burns. would you be able to identify the model and power output?
also, do you think i can replace the engine start mechanism with current aftermarket pull start mechanism for convenience?
i am interested in upgrading the buggy with regards to changing to better parts, ie plastic to stainless or titanium or low performance to high performance. if you have any parts which you think would improve the performance of this buggy, do let me know.
thanks

I'll try answer your question below:
Q) i read through this and other forums and seems like inferno and mp parts can also be used for burns. can you confirm that?
A) Only tires, wheels, and engine mounts from the MP5 and MP6 series fit directly to the Burns series, all other parts are not direct fit. moreover, the MP5 and MP6 parts are difficult to find these days. so for me it is not a good idea to try.
Q) would current models parts be able to be used on the burns for upgrading? specifically, i'm referring to the transmitter, receiver, servos and engine mounts.
A) all todays radio gear will fit the Burns series. as for the engine mount you have to get Kyosho part number BS25
Q) i'm having a ops engine on the burns. would you be able to identify the model and power output?
A) from the picture no, but you can google it and sure will get all info.
Q) also, do you think i can replace the engine start mechanism with current aftermarket pull start mechanism for convenience?
A) I don't know, also I don't think that there is enough space fron the engine back plate to the rear bulk head to fit a pull start.
Q) i am interested in upgrading the buggy with regards to changing to better parts, ie plastic to stainless or titanium or low performance to high performance. if you have any parts which you think would improve the performance of this buggy, do let me know.
A) I don't have Parts for the Burns, eBay would be a good place.
the manual is here:

hope the above helps

HI I'm new here and i found this site from sweden..
The thing is that i have a Inferno Dx2 limited (dont know if this is the right thread to post in) and i found it cleaning out the garage yesterday it works and look almost new that why i thought hey i see a project!=?:D
Well i'm thinking is the Dx2 so bad? (probably)
So how can i make it better well ofcourse new engine ( race engine) new efra pipe and so on...
But what about the chassie? can i install new parts from later inferno modells like the us sports? or do the chassie need some welding before it fits?? does anybody know?? (i'm thinking suspension and controlarms and so on)
The goal is to build a competitive buggy that can race with todays buggys..
budget 2000us (and i dont want to buy something new i want to build something unique and to me thats way cooler to bring to the track than a regular race buggy like the inferno mp777 )
Can anyone help me??

We seem to have a good hobby shop here they know a fair bit so finding 17mm wheellocks, clutches and some other stuff won't be a problem.

Hey guys,
I happened to be walking past a house having a garage sale yesterday and saw this in a box with a bunch of other crap, offered the lady a tenner for it and walked away smiling.
Im fairly sure its a Turbo Inferno like it says on the shell, but Im not 100%.
It has a Mugen 3.5 motor with an Efra Power pipe and a K&N air filter, the motor has plenty of compression, Theres a hump pack and Fastrax failsafe fitted and it looks like the receiver has been water-proofed at some point.
Its in fairly scruffy condition all over, but I reckon with a bit of TLC it could be a decent buggy again.
The biggest issue I have found is spares...... i.e. none! Anyone know if any of the newer Inferno parts will fit? Also, it has 19mm hexes with a screw which goes in through the wheel. Can these be convereted to 17mm hubs and nuts?
Any info anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Beds.

Wow!!
I didn't think I would come across a thread concerning the old Inferno DX. I'm a new member and I too have a Turbo Inferno DX. Right now it's taken apart because the flywheel or spur gear got so chewed up. Let me tell you, this car will fly if wants to, even if it is a dinosaur LOL.
I'm kinda searching everywhere for an exact duplicate or even an equivalent spur gear that will fit. Unfortunatly, my LHS's were unsuccesful in helping me search for one or at least, an equivalent spur gear. I have checked ebay too with no results. :( I've even had the thought of having a custom fabricated gear done for me if all other options fail. But even that, where would I go?
This thread gave me as much info as possible on the part number, model to look for and also equivalent NitroRC's to that of the Inferno. (mp5-7.5, 777, burns etc...) but to no avail cannot find the part. I heard there was a steel version of the 53 toothed gear, but I would figure that would be hard to get also.

wow demand for kyosho BS11 is increasing these days, anyway the spur gear you are showing is Kyosho BS11 (53T) which no more or with very limited availability, so the only option that I would do it to get a 53T spur gear say this one:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMJJ0&P=7
and take your old damaged spur gear to a machining shop and ask them to machine the center on the new one to match the old one.

I've seen a good amount of spur gears that look very similar to the BS11 but was just preoccupied on how the diameter/tooth length/etc.. would differ. But the one you showed me is pretty damn close :) i'll just get a hole drilled in the middle like you said. Thanx very much or pointing me out to this link.

no problem, you might need also to check if the HPI spur gear mounting screws holes are distant similar to your BS11, the machine shop should re drill the holes if necessary.

i have an old inferno dx i bought it a number of years ago and only just got round to running it it appears that the diffs are shot where can i get new bearings and main gears

Hi, let's concentrate on the differential now since the ball bearings are now issue, they are standard for all buggies;
Inferno Mp7.5 diff won't fit, so see the below drawing for the Inferno DX diff and let me know what exactly you are looking for:

it looks like the bs77 bearings have worn causing the bs121 gear to fail with the gear that it engauges with
i have only looked at the front diff as that seems to be the worst but i would like to replace the same in all the diffs
the problem being is cost, replacing lots of individual parts can be costly compared to replacing the whole unit from one of the guy's whole break new cars to sell parts, i do not race it is just a back garden plaything but the money it is costing i could have bought a new rtr
thanks robert
