Hey, I just got a nitro Pede... THIS THING ROCKS!
Here's what i've put on it:
Traxxas Stinger
64T Spur
Losi 8-rib fronts
Pro-Line Road Hawg Rears
Thats it...even with the smaller spur, it still does wheelies!!!

Hey, I'm constantly reading in some of the other forums about how much people like their N-Pedes... how come this forum is so dead?
Well, I just bought an N-Pede and I wanted to know if anyone has tried "Blue Star Bearings" ?
I want a bearing set but I want to make sure these are decent.
thanks

This is a new thread. Once people know it's here, I'm sure it will become more busy, it just takes time for people to find it.

Plus, I just searched (like everyone else is supposed to, ahem) and there were five other N-pede forums. It helps to keep it to one, so everyone knows where to post.

Let's get this forum rollin'!!! I have an N'Pede that is stock with the exception of Pro-Line Sand paw tires and Losi 8-rib fronts. Here are some still shots right after break-in. Action shots soon, very soon.

BTW: The N'Pede is very durable so don't be discouraged if you are gonna buy one. This did not happen all at once. And it was my fault, or should I say, my friends fault (I broke the chassis brace).

I just put in a mip 360 pipe and it rips even more!!!!!!! Pics soon...
It is possible to put a .21 in pede. But because the way the pede is built, you better just put in a powerful .15 engine (picco, nova rossi, o.s...), it will feel like a .21, believe me!

Does the double rear exhaust come like that? it looks like it sticks out a LOT, thats pretty kool. Is that exhaust stock, or aftermarket?

02-02-2002, 01:02 AM
dang, that double rear exhaust is bad ***!! haha, makes me want to go buy a stampede right now! But, ive seen the stampede and its kinda small.... How do i get some clod meats on that pup? The only thing i dont like about the stampede are the smallish tires, and the stock body...id put a Silverado or somthing on that bad boy! hehe.
Mason Copeland
02-02-2002, 08:08 PM
Just put some Pro-Line Masher 2000's on it, they are plenty huge imo. The stock tires are not (and don't need to be) glued. So just peel them off and glue the Mashers on there (peeling them off is harder than it sounds).

I've had my pede awhile... it's the ARR version. I haven't hat time to work on it until today. I put a Hitec 5925 steering servo in, installed a t-maxx fuel tank (the new one without the primer), installed the MIP stinger and 360 deg header and popped in a team blue star bearing kit. I put on road hawg tires and pro-line talonz wheel too.
This one is going to be for the parking lots ;)
what do you think so far (i have much more to do still)?
I know, I know... the rear tires are on backwards LOL

THAT IS THE MOST AWESOME OF AWESOMENESS,or something or rether...
What body do you use for street running? I think the F-150 on road truck body (that comes with one version of the hpi nitro rs4) would look great on it.
I searched far and wide on how exactly to get the t-maxx fuel tank in the pede... Could you please explain and maybe post a pic or 2 on how it is done? Also, how much is the run time, I've heard up to 25 mins., is that true?
BTW: another cool upgrade would be titanium turnbuckles...;)

spyderwrksN'=w=
02-03-2002, 02:03 AM
the chassis is blue too?! damn. haha. How do i get clod meats on the NPede??? and also, doesnt someone make a 4wd conversion kit?? I think if the Npede had...
1. clod meats
2.Proline Silverado body
3. 4wd!
You would have the perfect truck! Ive seen the CEN mt, it looks kinda like a stampede..and it is 4wd w/.16 kinda kool huh? i think the pede has way more ground clearance though.
Mason Copeland
02-03-2002, 02:31 AM
All of those are possible except the 4wd. I was thinking the exact same thing befor I bought it, but once I got it, all I could think about was driving it!!! And it is still the same now more than a month later...
spyderwrksN'=w=
02-03-2002, 04:01 AM
okey okey, i kinda thought 4wd would be too good to be true, haha. But i am really interested in the clod wheels! Wont i need an adapter to fit clod rims first? The tires wont fit on stock pede rims i think. Tell me if you know of anything like this.
Big Wig
02-03-2002, 11:37 AM
Mason Copeland,
Thanks for the compliments on my truck!
I have a Pro-line Silverado body made for the 'Pede that I'm going to paint for it... I want it to look like a 'Pede, I'm not going to lower it either. The thing should be fun in the parking lot but will still be able to climb over/ jump curbs ;)
I don't know about the run time since the truck is brand new but I would guess 15 to 20 minutes since I get around 10 minutes out of GT with a .15 engine and a 75cc fuel tank.
Installing the T-maxx fuel tank was cake! Just make a template that matches the hole pattern of the maxx tank, drill 4 new holes in the chassis and pop it in... voila!

Mason Copeland,
I made my template on my CAD system and printed it out actual size. Then I just taped it to the chassis and went to work ;) Unfortunately, it's in the trash now.
You could very quickly and easily make a template by taking the maxx tank and laying it upside down. Then lay a piece of paper over it - keep it flat! Then just rub a pencil over the holes to show an outline. Tape it down in your chassis and drill away! Take your time and it will come out perfect... there is plenty of room for the maxx tank in the 'pede chassis.
good luck

i went to my lhs to get a steal spur gear and she said to get steal tranney gears befor i got the spur gear.
I don't know why she said that, go ahead and get the steel spur gear... If you have any problems, you come talk to me... But even before you buy the gear, by a plastic one and set the mess properly... Put a piece of notebook paper in between the gears and mash them together (with the paper in between). Then tighten the screws VERY hard (don't strip them;) :D ).

Black? what color was it originally?
To fill mine, I just take the cap off, fill it to the top, then compress it a couple of times (be careful it can shoot the oil at you if you do it to fast:p learned that one the hard way:D ) then fill it back up to the top... I dont know for sure if thats how your suposed to do it, but it works GREAT!!
1 bottle of associated oil (40wt normally, and 3/4 oz bottle) will fill up 4 traxxas with no problem, and have plenty left over. unless your shocks leak, you wont need to change it. If your shocks ever do leak, FIX it!!! its only like $2 for a rebuild kit.....
If you need anything just ask

Stuff floating in the oil?? uhh... I think i would just go ahead and buy some new oil. Its not expensive. Go to www.towerhobbies.com. You can get it there cheap. Ive been using 40wt in my npede, and it works great. But for running the maxx tires/wheels I would prob run 30-35wt because its not going to bottom out, and the tirs will soak up some the landing.

You just put them on with hexes? without bearings or bushings? That cant be good :( You can see that if you read back a page.:D Ill know if im keeping my pede in about a week for sure....
I just picked up a Collari XS 12 PSs so I am working onthe install now. Here are some pictures with the body off.

I never scratched mine either.:o   :D :) ;) ;) A while back I said I was going to do a customizing project on my N'pede, and it was to make all the chassis plates silver. Well, I got bored of tyhat so I only did the bottom of one.
BTW: If it is at all possible, don't sell your pede!

Im not... The guy that I was making the deal with, started saying I was stupid because I wanted to much for it..... You dont even want to know what I was asking (WAY resonable!!) Plus my truck is almost new, considering the all the new parts on it!!:D
What did you use to polish your chassis??
Ill try and get some pics of my pede.... (still running the original body from 2 years ago, so im not going to picture that lol :D)
Mason Copeland
03-30-2002, 02:12 PM
I wouldn't recommend polishing it the way I did. Go here (http://www.finishing.com/2400-2599/2567.html) to find a better way. But what I did was dremel (with the sanding drum) off the anodizing, then finish it off with fine-grain sandpaper, then polish it with a metal polish called "Brasso", I found at Wal-Mart. Then sand and polish, then sand and polish etc.
sofast
03-30-2002, 02:16 PM
Sounds complicated  I think ill take it in to the shop, and try some 400 sand paper..... That (I think) will work. Then I can polish it with the polishing wheel.
Mason Copeland
03-30-2002, 02:20 PM
Please trust me on this one. Don't try to remove it all with the sandpaper. Your hands and arms will feel like the dickens before you see any silver. Use some type of power tool to get it off. Then finish it with the sand paper and polish.
BTW: Why do you need to take it into the shop?

Give me some examples of what you keep braking, maybe I can help......
You know what... When I first had my stampede, I broke alot of stuff to. Every time I took it out I broke somthing. Thats why my parts book (I keep track of replacement parts and prices on replacement parts) is about 4 1/2 pages long, and adds up to over $800 (yes $800). Ive broke MANY parts over and over and over, (due to showing off, and crashing ALOT), But guess what............... I havent broke anything on it since the rebuild, and my with my nitro rustler, same truck with a different chassis, Ive broke only 1 part.... That was because I jumped sideways off the ditch, and it cartwheeled into a tree (oop's:D ).... The truck is very durable, but not industructable. If your a bad driver, and cant drive it 30-35mph.... dont. You dont have to. Its just as fun at slower speeds. Learn how to drive well at slower speeds, then start going faster.. Now I can pick up the transmiter with my nitro and blast by alot of people... I am now a VERY good driver. Better than alot of people at the track. (raced them at the track for fun on an off day). In my yard I can blast 35mph 1ft from the tree in front and do a powerslide around it within a 1ft of it....... Practice makes perfect. (ps. I have hit that tree before:p ). Just take it easy, and you wont break as much...

1. If you jump, dont land with the throttle on... Thats VERY hard on them. I broke alot of those on my pede, I bought mip cvd and the problem went away.....duh:D
2. How did you break that????
3. Set the mesh right, and it wont strip them......
4. ........ HOW!!?????!!!!????? I have not even broke a back bone...
5. servo's break if your hard on them,.. try to be a little more carefull with hitting things with the fron wheels.... And be carefull when tighting them.. those tabs are weak....
6. The stock traxxas servo SUCKS!!!!!
7. try getting some ball and cup type ends... they stay on pretty well....
8. Get a different style body.. For example get one from pro-line.. (or if they are out get the traxxas one)
9.Be carefull with these..... I solder my wires on, and I dont ever have to worry about them.. When you work on it, just unsolder them....
10. The primer?? If so, you can pull the primer button out, and fill the hole with epoxy or jb weld.
11. Stock pipe sucks!! Ive got a pipe from the rustler on mine (side pipe).
12. RUN WITH THE BODY!!!!!!!! The only time ive ever broken rear shock towers is when im not running with the body!!! Besides it protects your engine to!!
Hope this helps at least a little bit.

I broke the backbone 2 times because of... I forgot. Did you know that the only thing holding the front end to the car is the backbone? And it's held with only 2 screws?
I broke the skid[plates from bottoming out...

Ok.... whatever you want to do......do it. The only hopup I mentioned was cvd.. $35. Sounds to me that you drive the truck to hard. The front end is really held on with 4 screws.... You are forgetting the brace.
Ps.. Sanding the anodizing of really stinks!:D Ive got the rear plate done though, and it looks good.

Hey do you guy's like to know how to make your pede wheelie like mad???????????????
Well... Keep the stock gearing (66-18? I know the spur is 66).....
Put stadium tires on it. I put on some Pro-line tires. Edge fronts, and bowties on the rear....
With the baffle out, you can NOT keep the front down!!!!!! IT WAS AWSOME!!!!! I did wheelies about 60ft long... I could pobably do it longer but my truck was cutting out at about 3/4 throttle so I could not hit it full on...
Ps.... My rear shocks are set up a little stiff right now. 40wt oil, 2 large spacers (on each shock)
If you do this, I recomend you run with the body... My truck was just about doing a back flip:D

Don't jump your truck with small tires. It will bottom out like crazy and break your skid plates etc.
sofast
03-31-2002, 10:28 PM
If I did do a crazy jump, i would do the following......
Change the shock oil to somthing alot higher, I guess like 60wt...
Get some stiffer springs...
Get the pre loads set up good.....
And last but not least......MASHER 2K'S. they will give it some more ground clearance/padding!:D
BUT I dont want to reck my truck so soon, so the crazy jumps are on hold for a while....... little jumps like 35 40ft will be fine for my air craving!:p  I normall jump my nitro ruslter on this jump, but... right now im just having to much with my stampede....
I really need to get it running right. I ran a tank through it earlier, and (I think i said this already) it cut out toward full throttle. Ill mess with that tomorow.

What am i doing wrong or it it just bad look. I have to wait until saturday know and get one to get it running i have done 3-4 tanks off fule and it runs very well .. So what am i doing wrong.
Please Please Help
Furstated New User...Simon
I have a Nitro .12 and that runs no problem but not as much fun as the Pede
bigguy,
It sounds like you did not set the gear mesh properly. To properly set the gear mesh do the following after replacing the spur gear.
1. Loosen the four engine mount screws so that you have free movement of the engine back and forth.
2. Get a piece of paper and cut a strip about 2" long and a little wider than the spur gear.
3. Place the strip of paper between the clutch bell gear and the spur gear and slide the engine back while mashing the strip of paper between the gears.
4. Your paper should look like this in between the gears /\/\/\/\/\/. Keep pressure on the engine while tightening the engine mount screws. When engine is tight the paper should be meshed in the gears. Turn you spur gear and and the paper will work out.
Your gear mesh is properly set now. This should stop the problem.

I really coulnt tell you how fast.... I have never ran an O.S. 12 before...... But im sure its going to be about 30-35mph. Then you can change the gearing to make it faster/slower... But like I said I dont know how fast itll go!:D
To make it not wheelie:
Have soft rear shocks....... Put a larger spur gear, or larger clutch bell gear on it. Which will give you a slower excel speed, and give you a higher top speed.....
Also, mess around with the suspension setup!! ALOT of people dont tune thier pedes suspension right, and it will roll easy. I have mine setup to where its kind of like driving my nitro rustler (its harder to flip). But Im also not running mt tires which helps out ALOT!!:D
Any q just ask!!:p

Mason Copeland
04-28-2002, 11:08 AM
I would like to use paddles but the only 2.2 paddles I know of are pro-lines and they are smaller than the front. Then if you get smaller tires for the front also, it will bottom out harshly. So I am trying to configure a way to get maxx paddles in the rear.
sofast
04-28-2002, 11:34 AM
uuuhhh.... Maxx paddles on the rear only? Now that would look funny!! Ive been running stadium truck tires on my pede for a while now, and it doesnt bottom out that much...... Just put in some heavy wt. shock oil, and use like 2 large shock spacers (on the rear) and 1 in front..... Its worked good for me sofar!!
Mason Copeland
04-28-2002, 03:09 PM
Good idea, but I need the soft suspension to soak up the bumps in the sand. It is a real challenge to keep this thing going at more than 20 mph in a straight line! Maxx paddles in the rear only wouldn't look too bad imo, but performance is what really maters to me.

1. stock about 35-36mph
2. depending on setup id say 2-2 1/2 in ( this middle section is about like 5in lol)
3. 2wd...
4. I dont have any, but Its just about exactly the same size as my nitro rustler, and its the same as the rc10gt.....
5. No... You would have to buy the pull starter (ITs only $16 so no big deal;) )
6. At TowerHobbies (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXJE68**&P=7) Its 289.99 RTR.... Its a good deal. I paid 315.00 for mine (hobby shop price) and was still very happy!!
If you get one, I promise you wont be dissapointed! Its a VERY durable truck.... I have ran mine up a tree (dont ask lol) wot and only thing that happend was I bent the front suspension pins.....
Ok, ok.... The bottom of my tree was curved, and I got the great Idea to see how far up the tree I could get:D It when about 12ft up and cam off the tree backwords lol. I thought for sure that I was going to break the front bulkhead or at least an arm doing that... But nothin!!!

I accedentally murdered my npede today. :( I was going full speed through the grass towards a dirt mound, and you know how hard these things are to steer, and I hit a wooden pole and the who front end snapped off, the shock came unscrewed, and the front lower ladder brace broke off. Now I gotta order a whole new upper chassis.
Is there any way to keep the shocks from coming unscrewed? I only have one shock with fluid left in it.

Get aluminum shock caps made by Traxxas for 7 bucks and you'll eliminate that problem.

After brutally murdering my npede the other day, Iv'e recesitated her. Gotta new Hi-Tech HS606 super torque servo, 45 wt trinity oil fer the front shocks, and 70 wt fer the rear. And today I figured as long as I go to the skatepark everyday, I'd take my pede along. Man!! whata day, ran all day long except fer cool down breaks. I never let so many people drive it. Everyone loved it. I'd have to say my favorite part of the day was drifting through and tearing up the cheap little volleyball court. Sand rules! Although while running the last bitta fuel outa it, and launching it offa the flybox, I sorta missed the downside, which was a nice 15 ft drop. So once again i had 2 shocks unscrew and dump oil. Anything I can do to fix this problem till I can afford big bore shocks????????

Put a strip of tape around the threads in the same direction of the threads so that the cap will fit tighter.
My Pede was brutqlly assasinated this week in steps. I have almost sorted through the wreckage and I think if I put er on life support she might live.
It all started last weekend my girlfriend came over and she wasasking if I have jumped the pede much since I got it. No not really so we broke out my big 7ft jumping ramp. I started out around 3ft because it is adjustable and got some nice air and got back in the feeling about jumpin again. So I eventually got back to 7ft made a few jumps and she said "wanna let me try" sure why not. Trucks pretty sturdy and she is a good driver. Well 2nd jump she made was beutiful truck was nice and level in the air and had some great airtime too. Well just my luck the radio glitched and caused the throttle servo to slam on the brakes. Well pede started spinning in the air and got a little crooked it came down right on the front end. The servo goes WOT right into my mailbox. Completely destroyed the front end. A screw came up and punctured the fuel tank. Well we killed the truck before anythign realy bad happened.
She helped me fix it (what a great gal) so I gave her the job of trying to partch my fuel tank back up again. I broke out my old pede parts and started reassembling the front end. I got it running the next morning. So Tuesday I decided to go to the track and see what was going on and I brought the pede. Patch looked good. Now in that whole endeavor you think someone would check the motor mount screws right? NO I forgot em so 2 screws were loose. I took the pede out and made some nice runs on the street with the guys watchin and sayin I had a nice truck.
WellI kinda hit the curb with my fantastic super controlled driving and really knocked the motor mount loose. Fuel tank was leaking too. Clutch and spur got a bad mesh and I got sparks that I never saw. A couple sparks caught all that nice beautiful fuel sitting in the chassis. POOF my pede caught fire and at 65 ft away you dont see it anyway. I started burning away in the truck like my new body and chassis, I saw smoke coming from under the truck. I raced it back to me and find a nice little ragin fire under the hood. I almost started crying. All the guys started laughing and called me a sucker. It hurt my feelings .
So the truck was stopped and fire put out with a fire extinguisher and we took her back in. On the pit table I removed the body and WHOA, cooked chassis, melted recicver, both servos are a write off, motor mount fused to the chassis, everything in there was cooked. The air filter was melted into the carb and fuel lines were cooked. I was mad I shouldnt have run the truck but I did.
Now I need a new chassis, servos, reciever, motor mount, fuel tank, fuel line, carb, fuel filter, air filter, probably engine, front end again, skidplates and a new body. I dont know why i posted but I need to let off some steam. My best truck is now on life support. I was thinking about checking it into the ICU.

Hi, Im Sofast and I have a Nitro Stampede
I think this truck is great.... I have a tuned pipe on it, bearings, and pro-line tires... It does wheelies all day long.... So how about you guys... Can you make your truck wheelie at all? Mine does it like nothing....
LOL, what the hell was that all about?? Sounds like I went into Newbie mode for a second or two huh? hehe

05-29-2002, 12:10 PM
Heh, Nobody pay attention to my post last night!!!
Hey, welcome to the nitro pede thread.....
All the pede ever wants to do is wheelie:D Umm..... put the biggest spur gear you can find on it, and the biggest clutch bell gear on it you can find.... hehe that will keep it down, but you have to make sure your not overheating the engine....
Ok, what comes stock on a pede???? Im pretty sure they come with a 66t spur and 18 (?) clutch bell...... umm.... just go up a couple teeth.....
Hey, I found out I could put my .21 on my pede very easily!!!!!!! Hehe I would need some pretty large wheelie bars eh?
dcshoelover

Im not to big on all that gear changing junk. Im' just ur average basher, who likes to drag race!
I'm not real sure if yo would really want to put a .21 in a stampede, thats like kamikaze without 4 wheel drive. But hey, whatever makes you go faster!

Yeah, Im still running the same gears as when I bought my pede 2 1/2 years ago!!:D
You doubting my driving skills:mad:
Just kidding!! LOL:D Na, id be able to handle that if it didnt do backflips!!!!!!!
I race my nitro rustler on ice (yes ice) so im completely used to trying to keep trucks in a straight line LOL... Im Very good at ice racing now!!! You should try it, its great!! Takes some practice though;)

I may get a Nitro Stampede. The Duratrax Maximum MT Pro RTR is 60 bucks more than the RTR 'Pede at Tower. How do these trucks compare? I know, as owners of the stampede, your opinions will be biased, but you're also the ones with experience with this truck. Thanks. :)
dcshoelover
06-06-2002, 01:14 PM
Well for one the stampede has way more parts readily avialable. This truck is seriously the most durable truck ive ever come in contact with! Im not real sure about duratrax, they seem to be more of a beginner kit company, and their stress tech parts aren't as durable. I'm sure if you read through this forum youd see how much npede owners love their trucks, I know I do. Hope I could help!

One more thing I was wondering about. Will I ever miss the presence of 4 wheel drive? The tires should make it a bit more cpapable off road than a ST, right? I just don't want it to get stuck bashing around the neighborhood and possibly in sand if I decide to take it out on the beach. Thanks again! :D
dcshoelover
06-08-2002, 01:23 AM
The npede can handle just about any offroad you can give it. It rarely has the trouble of getting stuck somewhere. And take it from someone who loves sandbashin, it don't get stuck in the sand, it tears it up!
Here's some pictures of my Nitro Pede in action at Thunder on the Beach. Sorry about the poor quality but they were taken from video.

Ok, i've got a seriously frustrating problem. My npede runs for like a minute or two, and then just dies. It doesn't bog, or lean out, just flat shuts off. I've gone to factory settings and all that junk, have a new glow plug in, it isn't overheating. But I don't know about all that idle needle junk, i've never touched it so im pretty sure thats not the problem, but who knows. When i lt it sit and idle, it like pulses on and off power, it goes from normal idle, then acts like its gunna shut off then kicks back in real quick. Im in serious need of help here.

Hey guys,
I got a new Pede last week and after waiting for the weekend, I was able to do the break-in of the engine. This truck is awesome! I can see already all the fun I am going to have bashing and modifying it!
What do you guys think about my 2 first upgrades:
1 MIP CVDs
2 MIP Stinger.
After that I will do something with the shocks and the ezstart system, I will probably replace it with the pulls-start.
Anyway, this is a trully great truck! A lot better than I expected...

Figit,
The stock pipe for the Pede is adequate. You will want to upgrade to a side pipe or MIP Stinger pipe when the stock one melts down.
Sand, fine beach sand for a prolonged period of time will kill any R/C car there is out there. From the servos to the engine to the suspension to the driveline. Once in a while is fine but I recommend a complete tear down and cleaning.
Gladiator Tempest? I dont have any info on that.
dcshoelover,
I use a Duratrax Intellicharger. You can use a wall charger but it doesnt peak charge which is really needed for the Trinity pack.
