Kevin knows more about this than I do, but this is a pic of the new Monster truck from Tamiya. This is a truck that's been in the works for a while and only now is it getting close to production. :D

Are the motors directly connected the the axles similar to the Clodbuster. It kinda looks like it.
Looks really spiffy, but all that unsprung weight is quite the drawback, performance wise ... but solid axles are dang cool, nonetheless !

Yep - I can't wait till it's posted on the Tamiya Japan site with all the spex and "off-body" shots.
Over at RCMT.net we've bee talking about this truck for a few weeks now. We have even seen an off-body pic, but it was poor quality, so it didn't reveal much.
It has been deduced that the prototype pictures floating around the internet are based on the Juggernaut 2's drive train, but we really don't know what the final product has in store.
I very excited and can't wait!

id rather have it because it looks more like a "monster truck". The e-maxx with it fully independent suspension may perform better and be a little stronger but I love the looks of a real monster truck. When can we expect to see this truck at our local hobby stores?

Well for $515 bucks they can keep it. I could buy a Clod and a Stampede for that much. Or both the TC3 and the Stampede like I was going to do anyways, not at the same time though. :( It is too bad some of these manufactures or the retailers seem to think that these vehicles are made out of Gold. Or at least worth their weight in gold. :(
Just my thoughts,

Throtl Hapie
08-24-2001, 01:12 PM
$515 is one of the most rediculous prices i've seen for an RC vehicle. To top it all off, it comes with 2 540 motors, they couldn't have thrown in 2 better ones? Heck, they should have included a no-limit reversing dual-motor ESC, a radio, high torque servo, and a battery for $515. An Ofna monster pirate with everything probably wouldn't cost $515.
I have to say this is a pretty sad product for Tamiya.

Keep in mind that once they get the car in stock the price will drop tremendously. Tower always does this-- just what they do. I wouldnt expect it much over 350-450, but Tamyia is expensive. I would want one, but there is no way I could afford it. Plus, I would get rid of the stock motors, drop in 17 turns, super rooster, etc.. just too expensive. You could have a really nice E-maxx for the stock price of that thing. If I had the cash, there would be one sitting on my garage workbench for sure!(Well, for the price of that thing, it would be in my room, in a safe! )

I hope you guys are right about the price dropping a little after it is in stock for a while. I have nothing but time since I rufuse to buy any vechicle before RCCA does a full review, sneek peaks don't count. I will either get this truck or a Stampede and then later a TC3. But E-Maxx has been calling my name for a long time now. Hmmm, if only money really did grow on trees. :D

Jerry, the prices will drop when they get them in stock. Watch the micro rs4; it started at 130, and is down to 110 I think. by the time they're in stock, they'll be at 100$. And Jerry, if monet grew on trees, we would be paying in all those wacky fruits! :p

JAnderson, just to clarify ...
1) It has solid axles ?
2) It has two motors, and the weight of the motors is sprung and they are not physically coupled to the axles, but are mechanically coupled via two drive shafts ?
3) There is some transfer case style component that the drive shafts connect to ?
4) The body is polycarbonate ?
Thanks for offering the killer info.

just so you guys know.. that equates to roughly $303 US dollars
street price at least..
that 515 at tower more than likely is the "list" price..
isn't list for a t-maxx like 599 or something?
<edit> i hope the body doesn't always come pre-painted.. i really like painting it myself.. i don't like this new trend.. <edit>

Krusty,
I would have to agree with what steve posted in another thread. The Mountaineer was the second run of the Bruiser and it didn't sell nearly as well as the original. After licking that wound I doubt they will try that again. Altough if they released it again I would have to do everything I could to get one. But then again, that is what people said before to entice Tamiya to bring the Bruiser back into production, hence the Mountaineer.
