That looks like it might let some air out of the SNR. Then again, it's most likely 1/10th scale.

I'm thinking of buying this as my first car, do you think is it good/fast enough?

I've seen it for sale in the UK for £230

Hi,

I bought a CEN GX1, its not a fun factor but the rally/touring car type.

It is my first rc - I think its great - well equiped -:

.16 engine
tuned pipe
4 WD
2 sp transmission
aluminium chasssis
and will do 50 mph out of the box (or so I'm told )

I think its a good first time buy, especially at the price - I paid £290 for mine including FUEL, FUEL BOTTLE, GLOW START, RADIO + SERVOS, SPARE BODY (AUDI TT) AND CARRY BAG.

Cheers

Hi Charlieuk,

I thought no-one was going to reply to this post so i went along to my local model shop and also bought a CEN GX1. This cost me £280, and did not include any of the extras you got. I had to buy the glow start/charger/bad/fuel/fuel bottle seperately! This in total cost me about £340!!

I did not get the spare shell either. You certainly got a good deal, where did you buy yours from?

I've tried it twice now and it is really quick. The only problem i have is it keeps stalling when i try to run it with the shell! Does this happen to you? Maybe i will have to cut out the windows as it suggests in the manual. I also had to add more suspension to it as it was too close to the ground on the suggested settings. Now it is quite a bit more off the ground, so less sparks!

Where abouts do you run yours, i'm mostly running it in a car park, so i can't keep it at full speed for long.

All the best

Hi I have the same car with a subaru top on it, I too have the stalling problem with the top on after about 10 mins of driving.

If I put my off road top on its ok and never stalls.

I have now cut out half of the window to see if it still stalls on me but I’m hoping that it will be ok :)

As for what I got it for, £170. New in the box, helps when you know the guy that owns the shop! ;)

That’s with two tops, and radio gear,
16 engine which I have had recently tuned
starter and fuel.

I just need somewhere to race it now :/

Hi guys,

I bought mine from Glasgow, a shop called GLASGOW MODEL CENTRE in Cathcart Road, they are very helpfull and are not rip-off merchants.

I have had no problems with mine so far (fingers crossed) and mine seldom stalls - even with the shell. I ran my engine in with about 7 tanks of nitro then took it back to the shop and as promised - the guy in the shop adjusted the carb for top performance/economy.

I have since bought a few extras for mine, six sets of wheel with different compound tyres, a foam bumper which is great - helps with little accidents, and a few other shells including a Nissan Skyline GTR - all HPi make.

I usually only go to retail parks to run mine - but I give it a good blast - let it go into second gear - which sounds great! I heard there is a unofficial nitro club in Glasgow - they go to the car park at Hampden Football Park - which is huge - I am keeping my ear to the ground for more info.

Do you plan to upgrade yours? if so doing what? let me know it would be interesting to hear. I was going to buy a different tuned pipe - the black one that came with it is not very nice to look at. Is yours the same spec as mine e.g .16, 2speed, 4x4 etc? And if it is what do you think about it.

I will be posting some pics on here soon - let you guys see my various shell/wheel combos

Well go to go now, take care guys.

Cheers

Charlie

M Pro - Did you try your Subaru with the window cut out, did this stop the stalling? £170 is certainly a bargain, almost half as much as i paid for mine!

CharlieUK - Mines is identical to yours .16, 2 speed, 4x4. I love your picture with the Audi TT shell, the wheels look great as well. Did you get them from Glasgow Model Centre as well? How much were they? I think i'll have to take a trip to Glasgow for a look around the shop.

I see www.modelsportuk.com has a load of HPI 200mm shells for £16.95 is this a reasonable price? The Lotus Elise looks great.

So far i've only bought the CEN spare screw set. This was because my suspension was too low, causing the screws to spark! It was a nice effect at night time, but i struggled to remove them for replacing.

I'll try and get some pictures of mine too, but it is just the basic model that you get in the box.

I had a crash too last weekend when i hit the low kerb at the school i run it. The car did a somersault and landed on it's wheel, it was quite spectacular and not a thing got broken! Luckily!

This site http://www.rcracingscotland.co.uk/ is pretty good for news on Scottish events.

Yeah they're 1/10 scale and nitro too. Mines is really fast as well and the acceleration is great.

Have a look at www.cenracing.com for more details.

Hope this helps

Hi there guys

Here is a couple of pics of my latest shell - Lamborghini Diablo - cost £18.99 - so yes CRAIG the price of £16.99 is pretty reasonable.
I have ordered a McLaren F1 GTR from Glasgow Model Centre - KYOSHO make - bit more expensive than HPi at £22.99 - but the body comes with mirrors, windscreen wiper, spoiler and various other little body parts - should look not bad.

The wheels on the Audi TT where bought from Glasgow Model Centre - at the cost of £18 for the four wheels and slick tyres - glued ready to fit - I think they suit the TT.

Sorry to hear about your little accident :( I had one too and broke the front diff casing and snapped a steering joint - only cost £7 to fix in total - so wasnt that bad really.

I think I will need to calm down on buying shells though - thats me got 8 not including the one I have ordered - and I have 7 sets of wheels n tyres!

Well, speak to you guys soon

Charlie

I've still to see if mine will run with the shell on and the windows cut out. It's been raining here most of the weekend.

I will definately be buying a couple more shells if it goes okay. The tyres too are great. I will be buying a set of those. The gold is much better than the white that the car comes with.

At least you won't run out of tyre's then! They should last a few years!

I have now cut half of the window out and made the car slightly more richer.
And she goes!

I took her out for a spin in the rain today and she loved it, all good fun :)

Superb, i can't wait to run mine with the shell on! So far i've only been able to run it with the shell off, with the shell on it certainly looks better.

Hopefully i'll be able to run it this weekend, weather permitting!
