With luck, mine is on it's way to me in the mail...

From what I've seen of them, they seem really well hooked up on the track, allthough there is not many where I will be racing, but I hear in Sydney they are the top contenders at many tracks.

I also hear there is new mods due out for them any day now, including a rear end mod that replaces the need to do the race mod with the front a arm.

Why do I get the feeling that barely anyone at this board even owns a TS4N?

I've got a Pro, but have no experiance with them. This is my winter project, for next summer. I also have a 4Tec Pro on the way. Both of these are rolling chassies. One will get a 15 Trinty/Picco, the other will get the new OS 15 RX. The 15 RX is a big block, I'm not sure which car I'll attempt to stuff it into. The RX produces it's power with less rpm, so I'll want it in the car with the highest gearing. At this point, I don't know which one that is.

Well I've got mine and have been messing with setup, the track just closed for the year so it's just a case of trying to get the best bench setup to get it ready for when the track opens next year.

Does anyone else have problems with the lower spring seat of the front shocks fouling on the suspension arm?
I changed to the longer end peice for the shock and it's fine now, but I'm surprised the manual recomends using the short end peice.

hayabusa007
11-26-2001, 10:30 PM
I hadn't noticed that. I bought mine second hand, built but unused. Yes mine hits the lower arm also. But the front of the chassie is way off the ground. If you adjust your set screws, in the lower arm, to limit the down travel, and lower the front a little closer to the ground there will be no interferance.

Bishop

I like to have a little more travel in my suspension in general, I played around with it a bit and like having the extra, it generaly stops the wheels from leaving the ground more and gives more steering control on bumpy tracks.

What springs are people using? playing around I quite the feel of blues on the back and whites on the front, allthough maybe going one stiffer on the front would be good on a smoother surface.

hayabusa007
11-28-2001, 11:35 AM
I,ve heard that the whites are the softest. That would be reverse to everything I've learned with my 4 Tec. A firmer rear end wants to break lose in the turns. I run heavier springs, and heavier shock fluid on the front than in the rear. To soft a spring will also make the car harder to control, as the body ,and chassie rebounds from the leaned over position. Lean does help create traction, to much, and the car rolls over. With open diffs, the inside wheel also doesn't have enough weight to maintain traction. In the case of my 4 Tec the inside front was lifting upto
1 in off the ground exiting turns. This caused a sever push to the outside of the turn, and some times, the car would roll over, with the outside rear getting so much traction.
It's all a matter of balance. You will want a stiffer setup in the end, unless you are doing Rally type stuff. Idealy the car should tuck into the turn, without oversteer and spinning out. Then as you give it power, it should have a nice 4 wheel drift, neither the front, or rear wanting to lead the way to the outside. With this balanced drift, you can steer the car through the rest of the turn. More power, drift toward the outside. Ease up on the power a little, and the car will tighten up the turn.
No I don't have my 4 Tec doing this yet. I just got into this about 3 months ago, and our track closed for the winter 3 weeks ago. Just when it all was starting to make sense.
The TS4n Pro is going to be a lot different, with the front onrway. I'm doing a lot of study on the subject. I think the way to go with it will be a barely larger diameter front tire on the front. This will give the front more ability to pull the car around the turn, when under power, instead of the rear pushing the front. With the oneway, its locked, or it isn't. There is no diff front and rear to balance them with thicker, or thinner grease.
I can't wait till summer, it's going to be fun. I'll have the TS4n Pro, and a new 4 Tec Pro to get sorted out. To me learning how to make it handle is half the fun.

A friend has a ts4n pro and I help him with the setup. So far we are pretty confused but here goes:
Foam tyres: MS Hard in front MS mid rear
Std diff with silicon inside: 10000 Front , only grease Rear
Springs: Blue F white R
Oil: 600 Front, 400 Rear
Needs a good steering servo though.
With radial tyres it handles well but it's slow.

Does the stock engine have a single or dual neele carb? Does anyone know the part number for the 2 speed? What glow plug and fuel do you guys use?

kojak61
04-18-2002, 07:47 PM
How much for a carb for the pro 12bzx? Mine falls apart when ever I try to adjust the idle screw? I put a carb from the stock Maxx engine on it. It runs, but as soon as it gets around 200 degrees it acts like it is overheating and loses power and cuts out. It won't run when tank gets down to half full. I think it maybe time for a piston and sleeve. What do you think and how much for a piston and sleeve(if anyone knows)?

My brother got a on-road car, older and there's no markings. It came with a thunder tiger .10 engine, looks like taller shocks in back than on reg. on road cars andone laydown in front.I'm new here and not sure how to post a pic. It's 2 wheel drive and were having problems finding front wheels with bearings.Traxxas nitro hawks fit up front but there way too wide, need on-road front rims with bearings. What are some options. Thanks

Hello guys, I own a ts4n pro for two years now and I have to say that I won many races almost every race I have made with it. When I first bought it was very difficult for me to get it running properly but after some work I fix it as I wanted.

The reason I wrote this introduction is because I don't see many people talking about this car which I think is a very good car and one of the best car for local track racing. I don't know if it is a better car from serpent 705 mugen etc. because I didn't own one.
(I know many of you own other cars if I made a mistake please tell me)
My starting setup was this one

FRONT
Droop +1
2 hole stock shock piston
25 wt shock oil
Yellow shock springs, with 5+2mm spacer
Caster clips to the front, all (3)
Camber -1.5
Toe out .5 deg
Shock mounting position: Top - in, Bottom - out
Standard Setup

REAR
Droop -3
3 hole shock piston, drill all three holes with a
1/16" drill bit
25 wt shock oil
White springs with 5mm spacer
Camber -1
Toe in .4 deg
Shock mounting position: Top - outside hole, Bottom -
middle hole

As I said this is a starting setup. Some of you may want to change something because their driving and the track they are running are different.

I raced with full optional tg10r , tg10 pro, tgx, kyosho spiders, ofna ob4 and some other cars.

Anyone that is having problems with it ts4n please share your problems in the forum and don't go to sell your car to get a new one.

Thank you very much!!!

hi, im new here.
ive had my ts4n for 4 months now (my first nitro car so im new to it) and ive been wondering, how fast can they actually go (in mph)?
Ive also heard about a 2 speed gearbox for it, how fast do they go with one of those?

puribong
08-23-2003, 01:14 PM
depending on your setup such as engine, gearing, road surface......etc.... in most case, 2 speed tranmission will boost top speed up to about 5-15mph depending on gear. With competition level engine and 2 speed geared for top speed, you should be able to reach 50-60mph easily.

So does anyone race this car in the US? I've looked at the Ace forum, and it looks like all the guys posting are from Europe. Does this car just get no respect in the US or is it an outdated hunk of junk? I'm curious because the specs look really good for the price compared to the competition. Thanks.

what do u mean 'not working very well' ? with proper adjustment it should at least slow down your car....having full brake lock is not that good either...of course having optional brake pad like carrbon is better than the stock ones... :D but for normal use the stock one should be fine...

Thanks for the reply, it does slow the car down, but it takes about 20-30 meters to stop. I have adjusted the throttle linkages and added collets instead of the stock screw and spring as I ound that the brake was not dis-engaging after the throttle was added. I have also adjusted the brake cam but still no luck. Apart from the carbon fibre disk, is there any other brake pads available, that have more bite?

besside the stock and carbon fibre material....there is another material/i can't recall...but it won't be better than the carbon fibre.....sorry, wish i could be of more help....i am assuming that your adjustment on the brake or servo is not correct..that 's why your braking not very good....

Hi all,

I'm new in this forum, but I'm in nitro modeling since 2004. I'm italian and I own a TS4N Pro Kit (carbon radio plate e shock mount, 3mm chassis, ecc)

This car isn't considered one of the fastest, but it can be a reasonably good car, fast and easy to set up. With some optionals, it's possible to eliminate some little problems and the car goes faster. I strongly recommend to replace front and rear bulkhead with ergal optional parts (thecost is high, but it's worth) and a fiber brake disc. Obviously this modifications are for the Pro Kit (top version), because other version are strongly different and need a bunch of upgrades.

in this configuration and a good setup TS4N pro goes fast and hooked to the track.

The use of a starter box is recommended with high performance engines. On my car there's a SH 12Rxt.

For all kind of tips and tricks you can also find me at Automodel on line forum (http://lnx.automodel.net/forum)
