Im getting a stamepede through a trade and I was wondering how I should gear the car since it has a 16 turn with the X-1 speed control (19 turn max on speed control). O anyother way I could keep the ESC from burning out!

Thanks for any help.

Hi Troll, is the esc XL-1? instead of X-1?
If its XL1, then you can use 17T mod motor (properly geared).
Is your Pede has an adjustable slipper clutch? if you use mod motor it is recommended that you install adj.slipper clutch, also since you're getting this pede from a trade, so how about check the diff, if it needs to be rebuilt, then change both the idler gear and pack the diff full w/ traxxas gear lube.
Now check the motor manufacture suggestions for gearing. Install the recommended gearing and have a blast!
Maybe you can getaway and not burning the XL-1 w/ 16T motor.
Here's my suggestions for gearing:
Start with 25/87.
I use 15/87 (wheelies from stand still) with 15T motor and Tekin Rebel speedo.

ok thanks. Ill check it out. Im pretty sure its the X-1. What would be a good speed control for backyard bashing with a lower motor limit, say 15 tturn or higher.

Ill check on that slipper clutch and diff.

It is the XL-1. Do not run the XL-1 with a 16 turn! Alot of people on the TRAXXAS message board have had their XL-1's blow up when using a 17 turn. Using a 16 turn, would be suicide. A nice esc would be the Novak Explorer 2, or the Novak Rooster. The Explorer is $49.99, but it only has forwards. The Rooster is 74 bucks, but has reverse also. Both have a 15 turn limit.
