I am open to suggestions. Can anyone recommend an ESC that I can use with my TL-01?

Any ESC will work with your car. You can go as far as buying a $130 Novak Cyclone2 or as cheap as a $30 Duratrax Spike. The ESC depends on the motor you use; a low wind motor will require a racing ESC as the cheaper ones cannot cope with the high power draw. If you are running a stock motor, practically any ESC can be used. I reccommend the Futaba MC230CR or 330CR. The 330 is the same as the 230 but is is rated for motors as low as 13 turn whereas the 230 is rated for 20. The 230 goes for about $50 and the 330 about $60-$70. I have the 330 in my TC3 and it works great.

I got an XTM Sportsman ESC from Hobby People for 40 bucks. It has one touch setup and can be had in forware/brake or forward/reverse versions. I currently have it installed on my Traxxas 4-Tec. Both of the models can handle down to 15 turns. You might be able to go down a couple of turns but you will have to gear the car motor correctly.

I would recommend the Novak Explorer II Sport. It as an extremely robust sport ESC. It can handle down to 15 turns, so when you feel the need for speed, you don't have to buy a new ESC.
