I recently bought a Reedy MVP and I notice that it gets very hot compared to my P2K. Is this normal? Although the heat wasn't affecting the performance, I was wondering if this is normal?

My gearing is 27/72 on a TC3

Your gearing is probably slightly off. With my chrome, I have to gear a few teeth up and go with a 29 pinion compared to others GM or PK2 motors.

I have noticed that too, but I am not sure how to fix it. I tried gearing down a bit but it hardly made a difference in heat, it was just a lot slower:rolleyes: .

I have one that runs hot also. I have used it all summer and it has gotten way too hot on many occassions. It seems to be pretty tolerant of high heat. It still works fine.

guys, me and Grizzbob had a long discussion about this a couple of weeks ago.
The MVP is very notorious for getting extremely hot, mine got so hot, it cracked the lower deck on my TA04.
It is normal though and it doesn't affect it's performance. In my case it only affected my chassis.
So from now on I'll keep that for my TC3 which is made of a composite and therefore more heat resistant.
If you have anymore questions, search MVP.

Yup, it's normal. The only thing anyone's tried that they claimed worked was using Reedy's 766 brushes narrowed to the same width as standup brushes, they've said it runs cooler & still makes great power, but I haven't tried it myself. However, one of my buds did & he was unconvinced of any benefits, it didn't seem to run cooler & he didn't like the way the motor ran that way, either. So I've simply decided to be careful with the gearing & put up with the heat.....:)
