Well, I am new to monster trucks so stuff I see on my MP is way off of what I am use to seeing in say one of my gt's. Anyway my rear diff is locked but my front diff is just fine (spin left wheel one way the right spins the other way while rear wheels don't move). but when I spin my rear wheels all of the tires roll in the same direction with no slip at the rear wheels (AT ALL).

Is this right?

i tried to get the teflon shock pistons but the guy at my lhs could not find a part # for them any one have the part number

try to loosen the wheel nuts on the rear a little, if that helps you may have to shim the hubs so they dont rub. let us know if it works.

no that did not help. so they should not lock then right?

they should spin the opposite direction. try to ask the question in this forum

Yes the wheels should go in opposite directions, with just a little resistance, if you hold the spur gear. If this isn’t the case then your differential has a problem. It should operate the same as the front differential (or easier) give or take resistance of lubricating fluids within. The front and rear diffs are the same part number… Most people run 3000wt oil in they’re front differential to add resistance (within the diff) and 1000wt in the rear diff for less resistance and better turning.

If you need to replace your differential take a look at the $72 aluminum upgrade – as I hear your truck has the older differentials.

If you put on a metal spur gear beware that it could eat the clutch bell gear if it’s not of the same hardness. This in turn will just cost you more money.

I’ve heard that Ofna has had some problems with metal hardness (softness).

First off no your differential should not do that, but that is not necesarrily a bad thing. As long as there is not grinding feeling or horrible noises coming from inside I would be happy. Think of it as posi-trac or maybe a spool, which gives more traction, the only problem might be is that you might sacrifice some turning ability (to turn as sharp). This being a monster truck you probably try to get it up the gnarliest, steepest, or most slippery place you can find, this will only help its ability to do so. If you race this can also be an advantage because it will improve your straight line "bite".
