Bob,

I still gotta know how you managed to total a chassis in one run!

The short story is that the freaks at this track couldn't drive their way out of a bag...you know the type- full-throttle over the triples on the first lap...anyway there was also a rumour that somebody put up $$ to take my truck out too.... I ended up getting landed on by some chode and in the marshalls effort to separate the trucks, my antenna mysteriously became dettached... my truck made a full-throttle exit of the track, struck a pole, another marshall and ended up 2 inches shorter than when the race began.

Uh, what kind of place do you race at where other racers pay somebody to take you out? Either you're a REAL jerk or they are. Sounds as if you need to find somewhere else to race. If somebody intentionally damaged my truck, they had better be ready to be the recipient of a beating. Matt

I would have to guess that someone was either a jackass or jealous. I mean I don't know Bob that well but he seems pretty friendly and willing to help others out. Bob care to enlighten us with some other details on this episode of "As the Stomach Turns: RC Edition"?

take my word for it...I wasn't the jerk here and I certainly haven't returned to their track either. It happens sometimes where the other peeps wanna beat the guy from the mag on the track. Guess what. I don't care. I love racing and I'm a decent driver but I'd rather be 2nd and having fun (and have the hottest looking ride) and have had a good time at the track then to resort to dirty driving or sacrifice it all for the win.

Amen brutha! That is the way to be. Seriously, if i crash and finish last, or if i win it all, I don't care. I just hope to have fun, and learn something. Every race you should learn something, and have fun, If not, you shouldnt be racing. Thats the way i see it, and i wish other people did too. ....When i smoke a $12 GM3 arm... I yell "GREEEEEENNNN MAAACCCCHHHIIIIINNNNEEE!!!! Heeeecckk ya!" ...and everyone gets a kick out of it, and then there is the guy that blows one " $@&*@ GREEN @#^^&'in Machine... $#&&&@ Track, $@#& car. Thats not the way to be... I'm sorry... but please someone slap him!

Thats for explaining! I was picturing some horrendous accident where there was a pile of trucks and a burning fire as the smell of roasted rubber filled the air.

And I agree with you about the fun part, though I have to say if I ever get the chance to take a kid named Mikey's car out of the race, that's just all the more fun. He's the kind of kid that makes you want to crush his car.....hey, that could be a new class of racing....

Yeah... it's called BATTLEBOTS. :D

I'm happy to report that the crew I race with is in it for the fun, not the heavy competition. When I raced rally a couple weeks ago, another guy was looking at my rally weapon, thinking that the tires were a little too "street" for traction on our dusty course, so he offered up a set of his wheels/tires for me to use. (Of course, with the Losi hubs, I couldn't use them, but it was the thought that counts.)

When we race TC's, I've seen more than one occasion where someone T-boned a wall and took out an A-arm or something, and someone else on the track (with a deeper parts bin) gives/lends one to the guy so he can keep racing. And we're forever sharing tent/pit space.

That's the way the hobby should be, and I'm lucky to have such a group to race with.

Where I race there are a bunch of cool people there that'll try and help the newbie(me) out. Also I was at a car cruise night thing and one of the older guys there has a mini cooper and he was running it around and he hadn't drove it in a while so his reflexes arn't up to snuff. Well he was playing chicken with the guy in the bob-cat with the street sweeper bucket on it, well lets just say this, VRRRRRrmmmmm... ... CRUNCH!!!!!! well we al ran over kinda laughing and then when he got it out he posed for a pic and the set it on the ground and drove it off. The body was trashed but the rest of the car was fine so he had a fun night running it around to get people's respons.
