Just got this from ace-hobbies and started to put it together. I did some searching around here and found a few areas I’d really like some input on. Please include the manufacture Part Number or a website to find it on, I found so good info in my search but most were vague on what exactly it was or where to find it.

1. Glow plug? Didn’t come with one will O.S. A3s work? If not what’s a good plug?

2. Diffs? Not sure if my kit has the new or older ones but if they might break I might as well know what to buy when they do.

3. Shocks, I read about drilling the piston out and adding different weight oil but because of the Bad instructions I already cracked the cap on one of the front shocks. It still works but it’s only a matter of time before it breaks. So are there any other shocks that will fit (prefer prebuilt if possible), better springs? Someone mention “Kyosho White”?

4. Dogbone, I read a number of posts about the dogbone on the left front coming out. The answer seemed to be a “shim”, what exactly and where exactly they talking about.

5. Throttle/Brake Linkage, The pictures in the Buggy Manual, Addendum and the other paper work inside the box are all different then what’s in the kit. Some a butterfly adapter for the servo, I was able to concoct something that appear might work using the parts supplied but it doesn’t look anything like the pictures. (Shown here http://www.ofna.com/new/piratemonster.html)

6. Anything I missed? or should know before I finish and try firing it up?

Oh and I’m still hunting for something bigger, I thought going 1/8th would do it, nah still not big enough. Are there any other Off-Road Kits other there bigger? (1/6th? 1/4th?) Buggies are ok but it would be even better if it were a Monster Truck or someone had instruction on how to modify it to be one. Threads (tanks or tank like) would be cool as well, something approaching the size of say a Powerwheels.

For shocks the Duratrax onesfor the Maximum MT are great! 15 bux a pair, oil filled, AL bodied and threaded. For bigger go for a new era 1/4 scale dodge ram, those are HUGE!!

1- i prefer Mcoy 8's or Mcoy 59's
an OS a3 i beleive is very comparable to a MCCOY 8 so it should work fine.
2-If you ordered it from ace. it should come with the updated plastic housings. (not the aluminum ones whihc are a 50 dollar upgrade) to my knowlede, the updated plastic housings solved the problem. and nobody has blown them yet.
3-How did u manage to break and aluminum cap.. because of bad instructions?
the guy who posted before me mentions durtaxx shocks. those wont fit. dont bother. they will be too short most likely. second they wont mount to the ofna shock standoffs. Because of the sheer size and wieght of the truck. ofna has used 4mm bolts to hold the shock standoffs on. and thus the hole on the shockcap is larger then most all shocks. i would consider calling OFNA and stretching the truth. tell them the shock cap broke b4 u ran it or was broken before u got it. they will most likely toss u up a new set of shock caps. if not u can just order the shock bodys from ace hobbies. Drilling out the pistons is a wise idea for sure. will give you a much better ride.

4. dogbone coming out? hear about it. never happend to me, or many people havnt had a problem. i think it was a fluke or 2 in some of the kits. but to my knowledge it shouldnt be an issue. odds are yer fine. worry about it once it happens.

5. the picture u post is how the old kits used to ship. u shoud have a set up more like this <img src="http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1311024&a=9733490&p=34772336&Sequence=0&res=high"

my kit came with those funky ear things. they sucked,. tossed em and did wut u see in this pic. and now ofna is shipping MPs with a setup similar to that in the picture ^^above^^

6. loctite all metal to metal screws. most importantly loctite all setscrews in the drive cups. the diff drivecups, the center drive cups.. a total of 6! loctite them well!

I built the Linkage much like yours. A3s are just what my other Nitro Car uses so I have them on hand.

The Shock well it was the first one I did and I was trying to press the shock mount cup into the cap from the wrong side. I just cracked the mount part of the cap near the top so like I said it still works just a matter of time before it breaks.

The Radio and Hi-TQ Servo (110oz/in MG) should be in today. So maybe I’ll get to start the engine break in tonight. Any hints here?

Can anyone post a pic or explain to me how they got the radio and battery arranged in the Box by the tank and how they got the servo wires into there as well? I looked over it a little but decide to quit and wait for the rest of the parts and not get a head of myself.

The 1/4 and 1/5 are the size I’m looking for but EEKS!!! The Price! (Yeah, yeah want big pay big I know.) But for what I plan on doing which is building a gas/electric hybrid I think I’ll have to resort to just building one from scratch myself, instead of trying to modify someone else’s kit. Just figured it would save me the time of designing all of it.

the battery box is actually 2 pieces, 3 screws hold the top on. take it off and run the wires through the groove by the servo tray. you can arrange the battery and receiver any way that is easy for you to recharge it later, thers lots of room in there.

Thx all! Had it going last night, did the three "three minute idles" then some slow circles in the driveway. So Tonight (weather and time permitting) I'll start the second tank and some more slow circles.

Two things

1. Priming the tank, is there a different tank or some kind of pump primer I could put on? The blocking the exhaust pipe seems a bit clumsy.

2. It doesn’t turn like my On-Road that's for sure. Or even my Pede for that matter as well. Guess I should have been more clear, slow circles in mine and my neighbor’s driveway. ;) Gotten too use to being able to turn those tight radii with the SFGP. Almost plowed over the neighbor's bush, don’t doubt that I could have made it. :)

Ok made it through several more tanks and I'd have to say it isn't a bad truck.

One thing and I'll have to reread the stuff that came with the truck; none of the engine bolts had Thread Lock. So the bolts in the pull start came out and... Well scratch one pull starter. $30 I've since thread locked most of the bolts going in to metal just in case.

Another is I loss the Air filter and tube. I'm having trouble finding an Ofna part number for the on in the kit.

Anyone know what the number is or a suitable replacement?

Don't know part numbers, but a LHS should have a usable replacement. Most filters and tubes for a .21 engine should fit. I run a small zip tie on each end of the tube. One at the filter and one at the carb. I found a taller tube at my LHS so I could easily turn the filter in-board so it would be more protected from dirt and debris. Be patient. Don't run without an air filter. That is a quick way to ruin an engine.

Got a Cheap Universal .21 filter, it will work till I find something better.

Rats I broke a Front CVA (8mm even) last night. Think it was because the front tire came loose. I checked both fronts and they both seem to keep coming loose, I torque them down just as hard as the back but still seem to work loose. May resort to a little thread lock.

Oh I know they make the adapters to put the MP tires on the T-Maxx will these adapters work to put the MP tires on a pede as well?

Hey what's an Ofna Number (18####) or suitable replacement for the Pull Start on the Hyper .21?

I found a 53099 at my LHS (been there a while) and it worked. But I couldn’t seem to find another so I ordered a 52099, which says it’s a .21 Pull start but it doesn’t fit the Hyper?

Questions oh more questions.

Anyone got the Alum Front Diff Support?
Looking to get one I broke the plastic one.

How do they hold up and where do you get them from?

Still haven't found much on the pull start 53099 worked but the Hyper Manual list it as a 53025.

Duh .it not .com Fixed it.

Some of the links don't work on the english side but the work just fine in the Italian side does. The sites are laid out the same, if your looking for more pictures.

These are the cars I ordered (forgot that as well)

Found this which is chearper than the New Era
http://www.alroracingusa.com/catalog_4.html But still a bit steep.

I figure 1/5th on road will have to do for now.

For more info on Bergonzoni check out this post over at HPI

Hey, I was driving, and I see my front right wheel fly off. I wasn't doing anything too taxing, drivign up and down my grass. Anyways, where could I get the little nut that holds on the wheels? There is a local place that is a big tmaxx place, are the nuts the same? Or does anyone have an order number. The instructions are complete crap for about everything.

Thanks

One last question, mine does an awful lotta backflips, I am starting to worry if the body posts will hold up. Any clue how to make it not flip so much. this is just from going up and down my back yard, not very steep.

Any 1/8th 17mm Buggy wheel nuts will work.

think they're are 18171 or 18922, look on www.ace-hobbies.com site you should be able to find them.

I have some 19mm for the Nitor quake and they seem to work just the wrench the MP comes with doesn't work, bust out the socket set.

Oh Thread lock them next time, I's what I had to do to keep them on.
