Ok, can you guys give a brief explanation of a few things for me again, please. I am using a Paasche H(single action, external mix, bottle fed), I have used it ONE time, and when I get the body done, I will post a pic, but I think I want a better brush. This one has been sitting around for about 10 years, lol.

1) The air brush not only has needles(I used #1, for a fine line, to outline flames.), but it also has different air nozzles? They are different sized holes, to allow diff amounts of air through. What is the rule here? smaller hole=finer line, or what? also with what needles?

2) please explain difference between external and internal mixing, and which is better.

3) Please explain difference between single and dual action(I got this one a little, but just need refreshed)

4) Please explain differences in gravity fed and bottle fed. Will one give better results, or is it just preference and ease of changing colors.

Thanks:confused:

well I,ve never used a external feed. I know don eddy is quite the artist and has used his all his life, hes even wore the chrome off in places. Gravity feed - the bowl is on top thus the gravity pulls the paint down, siphon - bowl on side or bottom air sucks the paint up. single action - push the trigger down you get air and paint, Dual ation - the more you push the trigger down the more air, the more you pull the trigger back the more paint. a single action is alright for painting bodys one color and doing some custom painting, but a dual action is better if your going to do a lot of fancy or custom painting. As far as external feed I think you can get a little more volume out, I believe an internal mix will atomize the paint better and put out a finer spray. As to which is better some of it I believe is what your use to and personal preference. I hear iwata's are good but never used one, it seams alot of commercial artist use them cause they can put down a finer line. Ive got a binks for painting bigger stuff, one color. Ive got two badgers which I dont use to much, and 4 passches which seam to work quite well for me. There again I think its just what brand seams to fit your budget or your hobby shop happens to carry. I see alot of artist's using passche, so I figure they must be alright so thats why I have 4 Passches plus its nice not having to change cups ever time I need a different color. Well thats my 2 cents worth I'm sure others will give thier opinions. Take care

Well, I would really like to start trying more detailed lines and shading, so I guess dual action is the way to go. Any difference in performance between gravity and siphon?

And how do I decide which nozzle to use, for the external brush? Not needle, but the air nozzle.
