View Full Version : Adding a little Spice to your track

I don't own a track or anything, but this is just some stuff I think would add realism to your track and generally make it cooler.
1. I think it would be cool if everyone donated their worn tires to the track owners to make some little tire barriers. Maybe they would even be functional in protecting people's cars in crashes. I've never raced at a track so I don't know waht sort of barriers there are and if they already protect your car by giving a bit in a crash.
2. I think it would be cool to donate your body after its junk and a bunch could be used to have jumping competitions on off-road tracks. Maybe you could have car crushing with monster trucks with just the bodies but I think the lexan might not break under them.
Have any ideas? What do you think of mine? Let me know, even if you think they're dumb.

good idea with the tyre barriers, especially for on road. In New Zealand rules regarding body styles are tight so to keep as realistic as possible, the tyre barrier idea would also add to that.
Crushing the bodies also sounds like fun..:D

I like the idea of bodies for crushing. And if not for crushing, then just a memorial pile of bodies. Sort of like a pile of rc glory.

Flaming hoop huh? LOL:D I used to skateboard a few years ago and the skatepark that I went to used to put up snapped decks on the ceiling. How bout pinning up old r/c bodies to the roofs of hobby shops? Could start a new trend!

Concerning the wheel/tire issue: Most racers(well, a vast majority) boil, or acetone their tires off of the wheels, so that the wheels can be reused. I know I do, and it is worth it!
We actually have one wall, that has bodies, stapled to it(with a staple gun, duh), but it is not only limited to just bodies, there are fried power supplies, peoples armatures that they have stuck through a body hole, to keep it up there, chassis',(I know I have one of those up there! same with a body). It is pretty cool, there are some, that are extremely old!(Can you say JR-X Pro, TRX-1?)

I like the tire idea, but don't you think the tires would come flying out onto the track, creating obstacles for cars still running? Maybe you could bunch them together. I rarely reuse my rims just because I think they always end up with too many marks on them to look good again. Then there is also the problem of old wheels becoming wobbely from impacts, worn hexes etc. I just toss them. Maybe I should be smarter than that?

well a good way to hold down the tires that still have the wheels in them would to be like get a REALLY long nail or rod and put it through the hole in the center of the wheel and then push it into the ground .... that will keep the tires down so after every crash u dont have to have a full course caution ......... hey that wounds like a good idea. ;) :p :D

You could just use safety wire, and wire them 3-4 high and a chain of about 100-200 tires. That would cusion you from a full impact with the wall, plus it would not move out on the track. You could also ancor in 4-5 places against the wall, so it would give some, and then spring back. I also think the hanging the old bodies on the ceiling is a WONDERFUL idea. Therefore, you could come back years later and look at how many bodies you have wasted over time.

o i forgot to say that when i made a little dirt oval in my backyard i made the "walls" out of the square foamish tiles that u put on your cieling that are about 11 x 11 inches and to give it the look as if there was a chain linked fence i stapled chicken wire to the top on the foamish stuff.

come on, the tire thing is a great idea, what is it with a bunch of premadonnas wanting smooth off road tracks, ITS OFF ROAD!!! if you want smooth, race on road!!! Having to drive around (or over) new obsticles would be a blast.

I think the tire idea is a grea idea. It would make it more like a real track and I think it would be awesome to see a car or truck wreck into the tires and have them go flying, just like you see in real car racing.

I think my LHS may be doing the body crushing thing for our MT class. :)
