I used to race rc cars alot years ago (back when the batteries were so bad that you geared your car to last for 4 minute mains rather than gearing it for optimal speed and acceleration) and have recently bought a tamiya tl01 from someone on ebay to get started again.

When I used to race (primarily dirt oval) the Custom Works Dominator was the king. It was so good, that it had it's own class. The track I raced at would not allow it to race in the regular 4wd class even if the guy agreed to be handicapped several laps at the start of the race.

My question is this. Has anyone tried racing one of these in the touring car classes that are so popular today (we didn't really have touring cars years ago)? If not why? Are they illegal for the class or are they just too expensive for people to bother with?

Any thoughts on the subject are appreciated!

They are expensive, sure.. all that expense goes into making the car such an awesome oval car... "simply" an oval car even.. try to run it with the touring cars and they'd leave you in the dust every time you tried to turn.. all that weight offset on the left and the limited suspension adjustment and limited (for onroad) steering, it'd be a dying quail.. on the ovals they were and still are beautiful to watch when they're hooked up.. We have one and I've been looking for another one to pick up for this fall/winter (and possibly a couple of the Custom Works sprint cars), but the necessary budget for oval batteries is just too scary to think about..

I think the Dominator is too wide for a TC class. I know I TC3 works awesome on a dirtoval though.
