I had one quite a few years ago and they are a great truck to play around with. It is pretty much a Jr. 2, but with truck wheels and tires and a Bronco body. If you need parts, just get parts for the Jr. 2. The Jr. 2 is a great car that you can do whatever you want to and it just won't break. I have had mine for about 10 years now and I still love to break it out and just bash around.
One thing, I recommend that you replace all the bushings with bearings. I ran my Jr. 2 for about 4 years with just the bushings and the front bushings wore out the axles that they spin on. You also get a huge difference in speed and run time when you switch to bearings.
The transmission is really bulletproof and I have never experienced any problems with the tranny in the Jr.2. If the tie rods/turnbuckles are stock, you might want to replace those too. I don't know how many of those stock ones that I bent when I would run into things.

dude another Junior T owner that is unreal. Yeah, i have a Junior T and i love my little truck to death. Literally I broke the chassis in half. I strongly recommend making sure all the parts (braces) are on properly. The chassis i had took a beating but eventually it broke right behind the front suspension arms (a-arms). As far as setup advice i don't really have any. I would definitely replace the bearings if you haven't already i also would replace the motor depending on how old the motor is that you are getting and how well it has been cared for.

oh yeah one thing i forgot to tell you. The Junior T is a good racer once you are used to how it drives. I replaced the motor with a peak performance modified motor (it was a gift so i am not sure of the specs) and the truck flies. My little brother got a Losi XXT-cr and i repeatedly whip his butt on the track. (his motor is still stock, but hey it makes me feel good is that ok with you:mad: )

It is nice to see others that still use that great little truck. I had mine for about two years, then traded it in for a Losi XX buggy. I now use my LXT as my main truck, which isn't too much different than the Jr. T.
ivannaxray - Yeah, that front brace needs to be on there. hehe
I haven't broken anything on my Jr. 2 and I ran it off the tops of tables onto concrete, used it to play chicken with other R/C trucks, ran the thing into telephone poles and it just refuses to break! Sure the shock cartridges are shock since I have never changed or cleaned them since building the kit about 10 years ago, but who cares? The thing still runs great and I have a blast with it. :)

n e hopups I hould consider? It already has carbon fiber chasis and towers, so help me! I need a new topshaft, and other parts, but i dont know where to get them?
RustlerBoy
10-23-2001, 03:33 PM
also what sixe wheels would i need if i wanted to replace them? They are old HPi ones I believe.
ivannaxray
10-23-2001, 05:09 PM
it really depends on the surface you are running your truck, for the tires. If your are running loose sand and gravel probably pro-lines gladiators or dirt paws would be the best. it you are backyard bashing i would recommend dirt hawgs(plus they look cool) if you are racing on a hard packed track i would recommend bow ties or hole shot t's but as far as replacement parts go the Losi website is your best bet. Other than that you will just have to fudge the parts from other models to make them work.

10-23-2001, 08:05 PM
ok, any links at team losi for the jrx2?
RustlerBoy
10-24-2001, 03:28 PM
Hey, where do they make a spur to fit my JRX2 anymore? I stripped it out yesterday. The plate that the spur screws into has 4 holes in it to screw it in, 3 on top, and 1 lower
mtn bkr
10-24-2001, 03:48 PM
Is it the stock tranny? If so, the spur should be held onto the shaft by a C-clip. My brother stripped his out and wasn't able to find another. Check with TRCR. It looks like they have some old Losi stuff in stock.
RustlerBoy
10-24-2001, 04:10 PM
no it is screwed on with 4 screws. 3 on the top, and one on the bottom
RustlerBoy
10-25-2001, 03:30 PM
Hey, any other hopups I might find, or buy and have to modify the to fit?
losifreak2004
10-25-2001, 04:50 PM
Do you have the Pro SE version of the JRX-2? It has the front shock tower that is nearly connected at the top, and it is a pain to put the body on. The older XX front shock towers were a direct bolt-on.
RustlerBoy
10-26-2001, 07:41 PM
I think it is the pro. It has carbon fiber components
losifreak2004
10-27-2001, 02:06 AM
I don't know, I never had the Stock JRX-2. You can always spend the 8.50 and find out.......
Make sure you get a XX shock tower, the XXX ones won't work.
futureal
10-27-2001, 02:08 AM
The JRX-Pro was my first R/C car and I still have it sitting on my "R/C shelf" here with my other favorites from over the years. I still have all the original stuff in mine too: Futaba S148 servo, Novak M5 ESC, a Dynamite 1400mAH stick pack... it's still a blast to drive around too.
RustlerBoy
10-27-2001, 03:10 PM
Ok, but i really need a spur gear. I dont need anything but a couple spurs, and the rear turnbuckles. The chassis and shock towers are coarbon fiber.
losifreak2004
10-27-2001, 04:23 PM
Try putting the XX top shaft in the tranny. If it works you could use any other spur gear Losi makes.
RustlerBoy
10-27-2001, 07:07 PM
Ok, i will try that
losifreak2004
10-27-2001, 07:52 PM
Is it the old LRM tranny? If so it won't work. If you have the gray retrofit tranny in its place then you can still find parts for those.
RustlerBoy
10-28-2001, 07:07 PM
ok. I think it has the greay one because it has a slipper
RustlerBoy
10-28-2001, 08:27 PM
Yep, its the grey one from whatit looks like!
losifreak2004
10-28-2001, 11:23 PM
Then there should be a slipper shaft available that will let you use different spur gears.
RustlerBoy
10-29-2001, 03:29 PM
It already has a slipper. The threaded part on it has snapped n is bent, so it needs a new one, and a spur
losifreak2004
10-30-2001, 12:55 AM
It has a slipper but the spur gear screws on? Do you have a way to post a picture of this?
ducklake1
10-30-2001, 12:23 PM
Does anybody have Pic's??
RustlerBoy
10-30-2001, 10:43 PM
No, actually, I looked at it and it isnt the XX tranny. It has a weird ball diff. I will have to search.
losifreak2004
10-30-2001, 11:48 PM
The first XX's came with a gray skinny tranny with an internal ratio of 2.18:1, the same tranny that was in the late LXT models. It was known as the "Retrofit" tranny. It is the only gray tranny Losi has ever made.
The LRM (Low Rotating Mass) transmission has a wide black case.
RustlerBoy
11-04-2001, 04:07 PM
Zwell, then its the LRM. It is black and is pretty wide
losifreak2004
11-04-2001, 06:09 PM
And it has a slipper? I've never seen that.
Can you take a picture?
RustlerBoy
11-05-2001, 03:33 PM
I will try. I am sure it is a slipper though. Where can i get another spur thoug??
losifreak2004
11-07-2001, 12:01 AM
If it has a slipper your LHS should have the older Losi spurs. If not, they may need to order one or start looking at places like Stormer or Ultimate Hobbies
RustlerBoy
11-07-2001, 03:31 PM
I might do that. My LHS doesnt carry any losi, except for there old supply, and they onlycarry XXX and XXT
RustlerBoy
11-09-2001, 07:25 PM
So, u guys no any tips for this machine???
greenmuse
11-16-2001, 04:24 PM
wow,i didnt think anyone even remembered these old boys.i still got mine,if i put electrics in it,it would go,but i need body mounts all around, and a body, and the little hunk that holds the front shock tower, and i think it forms the front mount to where the x brace attaches,i think it says "losi" or "jrx2" on it.are these parts even available anymore,or parts from other cars that might work.this was my first brand new rc,its still in great shape aside from the missing, and broken parts.for some reason though mine always ate diff gears, and rear wheels.gotta love the old school losis
RustlerBoy
11-17-2001, 06:43 PM
Muine runs great, it just needs a spur and body mounts
incorporeal
11-18-2001, 11:31 PM
god damn this was my first real rc car i can still remember sitting at the kitchen table puting this bad boy together and all the money i threw into it to get it going faster and faster. sadley its sitting in my closet now barely even put to gether i guess i threw it on the side when i got into gas. id love to get it going again but seriously doubt i can get parts for it. i got ot admit it hauled ass when i had it all tricked out even beat my budies traxas rustler wich isnt saying much but i loved it when his face would turn bright red.
soem one sed theres striped out diff gears alot mine did to until i put bearings on it after that i realy had no problems

Kimbrough and Robinson made an adapter for the original Losi LRM transmission, so you can use regular spur gears. If you have danage to the internal gear, Thorp made an aluminum gear-set for it if you want to get exotic.
The Robinson is machined aluminum, and the Kimbrough is plastic.
I also bought a Double X Retro-fit tranny for mine, but like the old LRM as it has the mount-ribs for the body mount (the XX case does not).
Bearings make all the differance in the world. Wheels from most of the other Losi's will work so long as they are before the XX kits.
Mine was a Junior Two, and I converted mine to truck, then back to buggy (that's why I like it so much, wheels and body, in less than an hour you have something different.
Hope this info helps.

Well, it just so happens that I have the MIP racing slipper and gear stuff, my local race track owner told me. He races for LOSI,, his name is Scott Brown
slot car dude
12-10-2001, 06:01 PM
I was simply trying to be nice, and mention what I know for the Losi gear question. If you have an MIP, then you should'ne have a problem
You don't have to be rude.
And who cares about Scott brown? I never heard of him, and don't care to either.
You people are the rudest bunch I've come accross.
You post for answeres to questions, then get sarcastic when someone tries to help.

Im sorry. I wasnt trying to be mean. I was just making sure you new what type it was, and Scott Brown is a great guy, just top let you no that. Well, sorry.

Greetings Everyone,
Just found this thread/forum! Back in the mid-80's I bought a Futaba Fx10 and then moved up to a Losi JrX2 (stock)!
I actually just pulled her out of the closet the other day, and have been bidding on some items off of ebay (though most seem to be from pro and se versions). All in all, I've got two of them back in great shape. I'll post pics after I take some this weekend!

I think they were 17 turns, but I could be mistaken. Back then that was a low as you went in a truck, and often a buggy as well.
Hey, can anbody help me find a clear JrT body? I think Stormer had them a while ago, but I don't know anymore.

If you think about it, the JrT was kind of like the Duratrax Evader but 12 years ago: Had all the features of the more expensive trucks (Except for the chassis, wheels, and body, and the optional H-arm rear end, it WAS a JRXT) and was around $70 with tranny bearings after a year or two.
holshotracer
01-21-2003, 08:41 PM
most of the parts are losi xxt that duratrax molded theirselfs. it make cheaper replacements for guys with losis.

They make great Basher trucks, and are tuff as heck!
You can add a slipper clutch, or even a Hydra-Drive unit if you wanted, plus Losi made a National Champion conversion kit, that would make any Losi vehicle into an LXT with the XXT transmission.
I currently have both and their awesome trucks that i plan to drive all the time.
Dave.

does horizon still carry the gear sets?i got some a-arms from them a while back after an unfortunate incident with a curb.
im getting mine back on the road, though its going to be under the guise of a really wide touring car(bought a nice parma 80' style bmw that fits it).what wheels fit the big losi axles?i want buggy front wheel,id like buggy rear wheels up front but due to the bearings fitting in the wheels them selves i dont think ill be able to do this.forgive me if this is a silly question, the junior t has been sitting since 96 or so,and for the past 4 years ive been into hpi and tamiya cars.
i loved this this truck,it was my first brand new rc,and it was a great value, very high quality.though mine did have an appetite for transmission gears.after bearings though it cleared it up

1. Hey there. If you still want that manual for the Junior Two, I have it here complete with parts list. So far I have found that Eagle Distribution shows the parts for sale. I had to modify some axles to get mine running again, it worked fine.
2. What I require now is the dust cover / gear cover. Anybody have a Junior Two parts bucket with a dust/gear cover I can buy? This part Eagle does not have on its website.
3. Also, does anybody know of a xx or a xxx body will fit the junior two? I'm looking to buy a painted one, and obviously there isn't any junior two bodies around.....
Thank You. Ryan. my email address is ryanmitton@gmail.com

Hi guys,
update on junior two restoration:
I got the dust cover from a local dealer who rummaged through some reallllly oldparts and he pulled it out. then i made the drive shaft out of another model, replaced the front bulkhead (they are standard apparently), got a body, then had it painted the same as what was on the original box kit. you gotta see it, it's awsome!

bulkheads still available from Losi.

axles

if you do search on horizon for the parts you will see there is hardly any available. Best bet is to check old local hobby shops.
LXT has same problem. Need a xxt or newer for better parts supply. The xxt is going to get much harder soon.

For those looking for more info on older Losi buggies and trucks.
Check out vintagelosi.com (http://www.vintagelosi.com) . It has the Junior manual but not the JuniorT manual.
Also, looking for a JrxT and JuniorT manual. Anybody have one or both?
