does anyone have any experience with this charger. I've heard good things from magazines but i want to hear from regular people like us that have used this charger. Thanks

I have been using a MRC 959 for about 3 weeks, it works quite well on both nicad and nimh. My only concern is that if you charge multiple batteries in a row it gets pretty hot, as a matter of fact it will get hot enough that you can actually smell it. If I keep a fan pointed at it then I don't have this problem. I will admit that in the manual they tell you this will happen. Based on the performance and cost of the charger I am verry happy with my purchase.

I have had the same expiernce. At my lhs it was only $49. I like it better then my Duratrax (that DC converter on the wall plug is bad idea...and flimsy...)

I just got the 959, and first used it on AC power to charge a neglected 1500mah 6cell pack that was sitting at 1.67 V, and started to chage it at 3.0 A. At this rate, the charger got extremely hot, in fact too hot to touch, at which point I disconnected it. After letting it cool, I then tried to charge the same pack at 1.5 A, and let it complete the chage; the charger was again to hot to touch, and the battery was warm as to be expected. I also did experience the "smell" from it getting too hot.
This has got me worried about my charger.
Does everyone else have this same problem?
Where has anyone mounted a fan on this unit, and what kind of fan?
I'm thinking if I'm going to use this charger regularly at the track, I'll need some thermal cutoff relays just to feel safe about it.
Anyone esle have the same expereince?

Hey same prob. here. But in the owners manuel it says not to cut it off till the display screen fades out. It gets hot, but my screen hasnt faded, even when charging 3 2000mah packs straight. It also has a smell, I wish it was fuse protected, though. V-Mac
