Very cool pic Pr0k.. one of these days I'll snag the digi cam and get some action shots of my RC's.

I'm glad my two main RC's.. (lol Max and Maxx) are up and running but my 1:1 camaro is broken.. again. ohh and I traded some e-maxx parts and a bit of cash for a small rc plane locally. Its A megatech diversion. I've never had a plane before and I know this is more a toy than a real plane but its a lot of fun flyign it round in the yard and the baseball field down the street. After I get good at this I may just have to pick up a better park flier but for now this is a lot of fun.

I haven't run my landmax much recently... had those steering problems which i half ironed out... but it's just not exciting anymore cos i know something is always gonna break on the LM everytime i run it. I must've spent almost AU$1400 on this car and i'm starting to wish that i could get it all back again!! It's not like i'm a crap mechanic or anything. Cos i know how everything works and i don't consider myself too much of a noob anymore. Argh! Anyone wanna buy a used LM?!
I wanna get myself one of those new T-Maxx2.5s... they look cool. I think i'm gonna have to get me a job!
So what exactly are you supposed to do with an R/C that you don't run much anymore... it wouldn't be much good selling it cos i wouldn't have enough for anything else, and i would've lost quite a bit.
I don't wanna pump anymore money in to get a new engine or anything... maybe i should just keep runnin it til it dies.
Hrmmmmmm... any suggestions anyone??

Man it's been a while. But not to worry I have a great excuse:I just went off to college at UCLA and have been spending a lot of time packing, driving, and unpacking. Unfortunately I didn't get to take any of my rc's with me...except a microsizer and my NIKKO peugeot 206. But it's good to be back. My parents said they would bring down my RC's by the end of october so you may see some cool pics of RC at UCLA.

Anyway...just thought I'd check in.

Hi all,
Keeping it at the top;)
I started to break in my LM today! WOW this looks like its gonna be fun;) My impressions so far: 1 The stock tires do not grip even during slow break in turns! This makes for slides:cool and makes even break in fun:lol 2 The suspension is fun to watch...seems to soak up a lot of bumps, even small ones. 3 Having brakes that you can adjust front to back bias on is soooo cool. Set it up for heavy rear braking and watch the rear come around! :D

Now for the problem:mad: The stock one way bearing in the pull start was screwed up! I fill the tank, turn on the radio, turn on the receiver, check throttle and steering, then put my finger over the exhust and give it a pull....whoooa, Whats this??? A slipping one way? YUP!!! 1st pull!!! Well after MANY short pulls to get it to catch, it started. ARGH! After every tank, same problem! So tonight, I pulled it apart! The one way was ok, it was the metal hex that holds the one way was slipping! So with some slight adjustments with a large heavy object, it is now not "perfectly round" Then I pushed the bearing back into it (with great effort;) ) and now it works fine! Has this ever happened to you??? I have a Mad Force with the same motor and it is doing the same thing I bet...

hmm.. strange I did not have any problems at all with my one way or the one way shaft bu I've heard of others having weird problems.

well if you think its fun now with a powerfull engine it only gets better and be sure to have a large budget for replacemnet tires. LM's love to shread tires especially if you drop in a good powerfull engine. :) I've become very familiar with reusing LM rims. It will ony get more fun from here on out. the Lm2 ishe best parking lot animal out there.

Hewy all!! :D

I was there for Brians 1 break in tanks..
Quick car.... Drifts very easily..... Yes he will need to set up a tire
budget though..
He was running the car for break in without the sick Subaru body he painted so could not get the factor of size on this car, but hopefully he will test again today with the body on, so everyone can get veiw of its size.....
I think I may have to get one of these eventually.....

Good luck with the Max Brian......

Yo, just moved house. WOO :D now I have 5 acers of land out in the back of field. I am so glad I replace the rally body with the Ford Truck - I send in some picture soon - metalic green and metallic blue - if definately different to what you normally see in the countryside in old blightly!
LOVE MY LANDMAX2

seeing the car doing 50mph over field is quite amazing.

cleanmaxx.. the trick is to buy a large can of acetone and soak the entire rim and tire in it overnight in a sealed container. Then just peel the tire off the rim in fact it just about falls off. then wash the rim in some soap and water and its ready for the next tire. The acetone totally removes the ca glue but also reuins the tire in the process also if you keep the acetone in a sealed container you can reuse it over and over. hehe.. I've done this to lots of wheels to reuse the rim especially those expensive maxx wheels.

If you are not going to be running it off road the slick tires are great and last a long time or for an even cheaper setup the proline road rages for 1/10 buggies I believe have been used.. I think it was a few pages back on this forum with pics and details.

Jimmy33.. 5 acres hmm.... I'm seeing an RC rally track on a nice secton of property. I can't wait to see the pics of the ford truck body. :)

good to see everybody checking in...i was wondering where alex and jimmy were...hehe

i have not experienced the one-way hex slipping either, i would think that would tear up the little pullstart "spool" pretty quickly...i rebuilt Pr0k's pullstart last week due to a slipping one-way, blasted out the bearing itself with WD-40 until it quit leaving black slime on the pullstart shaft, and sanded the shaft a little with some fine (320 i think it was) sandpaper so it had sort of a smooth matte finish and plenty of fresh area for the one-way to grab onto...working like a charm now

still using those proline 1102s (http://***********/gp20/misc/PRO1102.jpg) on the rear of his car (RWD setup with GS 21 and GT-30 2 speed) and they are holding up very well...they do need larger foams to fit right though, he has some duratrax (cheap) 2.2 truck foams coming that should firm up the tires nicely...the included proline foams are just too narrow and let the tires wiggle around too much, they eventually work their way over towards the inside of the car and look all funky and lopsided...more details as they develop but i would say the prolines rival the slicks for onroad traction, and still work nice in the dirt (as you can see in his recent pics)...the car is fun to drive like this, even with the hard street pattern tires up front (GT-39) and a very high stiff suspension, the rear end stays planted and it handles very predictably

and yes, the stock rally tires are definitely not the hot ticket for running on pavement (unless you like mondo powerslides and wheelspin ehe), but they do at least put on a good show, and work okay in dirt...i am still disappointed the proline "dirt hawgs" did not work out better, the weak spot with those are the little indents all the way around the sidewall, this is where they rip apart (http://***********/gp20/misc/pr0k-02.jpg)...some of the other buggy rears would probably fit and work better for offroad duties, but don't have that cool scale-ish appearance...kyosho also makes a softer version of the LM rally tires (with included foams) which have the same look as the stockers, but work better for offroad...they are listed in my parts list (http://***********/gp20/GP-20-parts.txt), and i will add in the prolines when we come up with a good setup re: the foams...

john, those ofna shocks look nice and they should fit well, i think they use 3mm mounts top and bottom so that shouldn't be a problem...if they use the lower balls with a little lip on either side that end may be a little too wide to fit in the a-arm right, but you can pop a kyosho 5.8mm ball right in instead and have them ft perfectly (this seems to be true of both the ho bao and hong nor shocks, those look like the hong nor ones)

chris, i am not sure what to tell you...i would make you a fair offer for your car but i don't have any money...i am not convinced that any new car will be what you are looking for, but keep us posted as to what you decide on...

hi. i will be getting a LM2 very shortly and i have a couple of quetions for you guys.

I was thinking about dropping in a XTM 24.7.. SixVi6, I see you have done this already. Does it drop right in? Are there additional parts required for it to work with the GTW020 2-speed?

Also, are there optional spur gears availiable for the 2-speed? I can't seem to find them on tower.

What other hop-ups would guys recommend for the LM2?

any help is appreciated!

thanks,

Ran the LM today for the first time after break-in. Tuned it for power and it is still pretty quick for the stock motor;) However, I had a Hi Tec digital servo HS5925MG go bad! It was brand new for this car! I have been having the worst luck with Hi Tec lately. I have 14 of there servos...a bunch of 645MG and 4 top of the line digitals. I have lost 6 of them!!! My Hobby shop has been great and exchanged them but this is getting out of hand! SO I was running the LM when my digital steering servo starts to not center. It is turning hard to the left and then I slide sideways, hook a crack and barrel roll my 7+ hour Imprezza body:( :( :(
So now it is scratched on both front fenders, the roof, the left rear quarter and the wing:( :( :( I was like I know I can drive this for a long time before I scratch it...after all I am only going to run it on pavement:rolleyes: Oh well...it was fun while it lasted. I came home and put my spare digital servo in and put it on the charger for tomarrow:D I will need tires on Monday if I keep this up!:D

as far as hop ups I'd say better tires, a good pipe, and eventually shocks. I've had no problems except fo a strange drive cup wearing problem but nothing else. after that you can but many hop ups made for the MP 7.5 buggies so there are lots of choices on what to do.

The 24.7 needs to be raised up just about the thickness of a washer and a bit of a notch out of the spacers things (pt# IF107). It fits fine after that and has a ton of power but does lack RPM. that is why I did just a bit of porting on my 24.7 then just run an 18t clutchbell. for the 2 speeds I know nothing. I believe there is another clutchbell that whould work that will allow as large as 20t on the second gear but thats all I know. I thought about making my LM2 a shifter but I'm very happy with an 18t clutchbell and the 24.7 so I figured why change it.

hehe on a side note I ook my Lm2 to the on road track again today and there was a guy there with an Ofna GTP!! It was great fun until he whacked the boards and broke an arm and bent a shock shaft. he also found that the stock front diff was on its way out. Its only 2 weeks and 1/2 gallon old! oh well.. My Lm2 was faster all around in the turns and speed but his is still stock. He said he'll be back on practice day next week to run it again, but its an ofna and all the parts will have to be ordered and its always a wait. if ofna would spend the money on getting product out to LHS's instead of buying 15 pages of advertising using horrible cheap ads in every RC mag on the planet I'd probably buy their stuff. oh well. there is no sense of having an RC when you don't have a reliable supply of parts for it.

jeroen, nice job on the three speed! im still milling out my chasis so you beat me to the punch. ive not been to this site in a while secondary to my dang hard drive crashing...its nice to see some old faces and some new ones too! my project is comming along slowly but nicely...i have all the parts i need except for the engine...that will come later. i could also use some GPM landmax parts if anyone could get me in touch with them..i would like to get some lower aluminum arms...hobbyetc.com does not have them anymore but the gpm site still shows them...the reason i want the aluminum arms (and front hub carrier part#se019) is to stiffen up the suspension..i dont plan to run the car offroad so i dont think ill risk bending them unless i slam into some unmoveable object.the gpm parts have had their qulaity questioned, but the few i do have are compareable to other "brands". they are CNC milled from 6061 t6 aluminum (an "alloy") and seem to be finished nicely.
as far as tires, i took your guys idea and attached(not glued yet) the road rage 2.2 rear buugy to lm rims...i tried the 2.0 tires as brought up by bukkake but thes were too "tight" and had to be returned to the LHS. i used 2.2 truck foams (un modified) with the road rages, and these seemed to "fill out" the tire much better than the included foams, but im not sure if iam real happy with the fit...the tires seem off balance... any better ideas would be appreciated.

jeroem, did you have trouble fitting the fuel tank on the lm 1 with the three speed? i found that the bell made for a very poor fit...i did find a solution...i got a fuel tank from a thunder tiger eb4 pro buggy...its "indented" shape allows for clearence of the bell, but still allows you to keep the tank as close to the center of the chasis as possible for better wt distribution...plus it looks "factory". let me know what you came up for the tank...
also i could not believe what air filer you had ...a K&N from dragon rc for the Maxx?!? i was going to do the same thing (and have the people who saw it think what a cool idea..thats pretty trick :) ), but once again you beat me to the punch!?!

Take a look at this baby.

I drove it today, and man she is fast, too fast I really think, It's scary fast.
But I used the stock tires, but the grip is not enough with this power and speed, when I hit the trottle she spins like crazy, But I've got the slick tires also, they only must be glue ed on the new rims.
I mounted the tank up front, fro the time being, Till I've got a smaller tank that fits right onto the original place were it belongs.

I do not think I drove this setup verry long It is too fast for me too handle, And when the madforce bevel gears are replaced I put the 3-speed back were is belongs.

Then the 2-speed is enough for me.

JIMMY 33,

Are the wheels on your lm stadium truck chrome plated or are the painted silver by kyosho (i ask because kyoshos other "chrome" lm wheels are just painted...and a pretty crappy paint job i must add?, yours look like the real MCcoy)....does any one know if the wheels on the lm st are the same size as the other lm wheels...a pair of slicks would look pretty cool on those chrome rims. i tied to figure this out on tower but they give so many different and unconsistant numbers (inches vs. cm,IDvs.OD, etc.) its impossible to know for sure.

And oh yeah...jimmy, nice job on the stadium truck body...the more I look at the stadium truck landmax the more i like it!

Unobjectionable
09-30-2002, 05:42 AM
the ST wheels are "real" chrome plated, and are the same size....KYOC6322/GT-50...this is why i can't understand why they have never given the spoked wheels a similar finish...the older cars (supereight) have a two-piece rim with the outside piece also having chrome plating...

here's a pic of my (well-used) ones...the ST tires are also pictured, they are even taller than the rallys and seem to last forever...

http://***********/gp20/misc/tires.jpg

(those tires on the black rims are the proline dirt hawgs that self-destructed)

jeroen, awesome work...did you buy an extra 3 speed shaft to cut up? your car is looking good btw, and the polished shocks look just beautiful...

i was giggling reading your test drive report, i can imagine that combo is a real handful...24/7, CVEC, 3 speed and RALLY TIRES...ehehe...the slicks will help a lot, but i bet it will still be scary

SPEAKING OF TIRES, we ran Pr0k's car today and had some fun...we mounted two more of the proline 1102 in front, with those duratrax 2.2 truck foams (DTXC7662, cheapest i could find)...the good news is they make the tires a lot firmer, especially at the sidewalls...the bad news is, i think the 1102s are just too wide to run without having them squirm over to the inside of the car...they do work fine (with them on the front, still running RWD, i could "traction flip" the car pretty easily, and did)...the picture of the proline 1101 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXDU33&P=0)s makes them look skinny in comparison to the 1102s, but they might turn out to fit better, although they would certainly be lower-profile (closer to the kyosho street tires) when mounted...regardless, no wear problems (rears still look almost new)

anyway, we had his car running great today...the prolines in front gave it a ton more steering and made it a little hairier to drive in the RWD configuration...even with the stock bluehead GS-21 powerhouse, first gear was a killa and if you had the wheels turned at all, you had to sort of nurse it up to speed before you could really punch it for fear of whipping the back end around the front (we ran on the very sandy street in front of the house here)...i do think those prolines have some great potential though, those rear ones would just hook up and go even with a wide-open launch...very little wheelspin, just super hard acceleration...

last but not least, one special link for KIRK S. DECKER, who hasn't been reading nitroreview like he should! hehe

I used the mf 3-speed shaft and cut it down on both sides.

So I'll have too order a new one at towerhobbies( oscar will take it with him when he comes too the Netherlands, next month)

I'll also will order a smaller tank, and adjust the 3-speed better this time so that it will angage much later into the last gear.

I mounted the slick tires onto the new rims, So I will take a drive today, with them.

Jimmy33, I also like your body and green color on it, But I'll think I also must get used on the big back of the truck body.

One day I'll buy it too with the truck rims, and make my landmax a real rally car

I'm planning to make my landmax a little bit wider by changing the dog bones (66 mm --> 92 mm , self-made), making wider lower a-arms from aluminum (like ThorBob did, but not so detailed and shiny:) ) and replacing all upper arms and steering rods with 26mm taller ones. If you see something is going to be wrong or thatīs not going to work just tell me, please!

And then the tires. Iīve read from this forum that the landmax STs rims or wheels (I donīt know what the difference between them!?!) are the same size with the LMs stock rims. So itīs possible to change the old tires to the STs roughly patterned without changing the rims?

Iīve also thought the MP 7.5 buggy tires and rims, but the rims doesnīt seem to fit to the LM correctly because of too little hub nut (or whatever it is). But smaller hub nut is easy to make from the same size hex screw.

Iīm trying to make my Max more like buggy/truck so I could run it almost everywhere. Which tires and rims would be the best one for me? My hobbyshop has Kyoshos and Pro-Lines.
They sell:

Dirty Harry http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXVT94&P=7

Crime Fighter http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXUM90&P=7

Landmax ST tireshttp://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXMU44&P=7

MP6/7.5 rims (MP6 has 19 mm hex hub just as LMs)
and lots of MPs tires

What do you recommend?

Jimmy33
10-01-2002, 01:21 PM
Yo! To make the landmax wider the easist way to do it is to fit inferno 7.5 arms and other parts on to it. his will increase the width by 44mm

The Landmax ST tyres are for the stadium truck and have a more aggesive tread.

My landmax is the truck body with 93mm shocks which give be loads of ground clearance and I can happily drive across the field and ploughed field of the next door farmers with it.
The hex nut behind the wheel, you should buy at the same time as the rest of the inferno stuff. hat should give you a good wide stane. However mine is almost totally standard and runs fine off road, if a little soft on road...

BUKKAKE,
Can you go into more detail about how the road rage tires performed? I used losi firm 2.2 inserts with mine and they seem to fill out the rim/tire pretty well but i did not glue them yet hoping that someone will find the "perfect" set up. I know that you said the seem to squirm inward a bit but does this seem to effect their performance much? I already tried various front "buggy" road rage tires (including the 1101's you mentioned) but they do not fit the lm rims...even with some forcefull tugging (thank goodness my LHS is understanding and has let me return the "unusable" tires).

Those a arms that THOR guy made are outstanding...funny thing is that the owner of my LHS has been hinting around for a while that I should get get a Sherline mill for the type of stuff im doing (he has one that he uses to make custom rc pulling truck/tractor chasis for customers.. a big part of his buisness). I never realized how versitile these machines are until i saw that nitro review forum. I might get one... i already have friends that are willing to drop cash down for bling bling parts for their Tmaxes...plus i like doing this kinda of stuff almost as much driving the dang cars...my first parts though would probably not be for the lm...I am going through GS storm front a arms like crazy (partly because of my addiction of launching the poor buggy into orbit on a regular basis). Since I have bomb-proofed the storms front end (titanium shock tower, homemade bulkhead brace, aluminum hinge pin carriers) maybe some 7075 t-6 custom a-arms would solve my problem (of course i will need some titanium hinge pins which dont seem to be available from anyone yet)..also if one was to make aluminum a arms (for the lm or any other vehicle ) where would one get teflon bushings/inserts needed to prevent excess wear/slop from the friction of the hingepins?

ehehe i have a few sets of tires that look just like that!

sorry for the slow reply kirk....the proline 1102s WORK great, just looks a little weird when they squirm their way in and all the excess width/sidewall is towards the inside of the car...but performance does not seem to be affected, and they don't rub or anything so it's not really a big deal...

i agree thorbobs work is just beautiful, that is going to be one hell of a pretty LM (already is eheh)....teflon bushings would be cool, but i don't know where one would find such a thing offhand...maybe an industrial parts supplier would have something that could be modified...i do think bronze or a similar metal would be a bit better choice though, and probably easier to find too...just a little plug on either side, sunk into the arm and drilled for the hingepin...

I have decided to sell those tires up above for $15 shipped! Why spend $30+ on a set of slicks when I can give them to you for half price! Infact, if you send me a set of your stock tires, I will personally turn them into slicks for you for FREE! Yes I said FREE! I know you are in disbelief but it is true! Just send them to me and give me 1 week to do my magic! I would normally offer a money back guarantee, but becouse I am doing this out of the goodness of my heart, and I know my work is perfect, it is just not nessesary;)

full custom asphalt machining does not come cheap...hehe

sorry zzs, i completely missed/forgot your post somehow...since you have a LM1 (as i recall anyway) you would want to use the inferno DX parts, not the 7.5...heres a link from nitroreview with some more info on that:

http://www.nitroreview.com/newforum/forum2.cfm?TopicID=1507&clubid=42

and yes, the LM ST tires will fit the regular LM rims just fine...they are a little taller so you might have to jack up the suspension a little (or just run the body mounted a bit higher)

you would have to widen your landmax to run any buggy rims or it will look silly and have possible clearance issues (they hit the manifold) due to the shorter a-arms...

and i guess technically a "wheel" is the tire mounted to the rim...don't sweat it, your english is excellent

Nice looking real rally car.

I like the carbon finish on the body also.

The thing must fly with that O.S RZ engine and twospeed?

dam thats a nice car - my scooby don't look half as good any more - not sure if you could really call it a scooby after the rear tyre exploded.

What is the part number for the engine

Also which body is better the Ford, Toyota or Pegout

the rz-v01b is great. it's so easy to tune and break-in was a breeze, compared to the ofna hyper. it's a real handful when driving on parking lot surfaces... too much throttle and it just spins out:(

i actually ran out of paint by the time i got to the wing, but luckily i found some extra carbon fiber decal laying around:)

OK, I have a Hyper .21 8 port that I want to put in my LM. I also want to order the 2 speed. According to Tower, you can't use the SG shaft engines...of course that is what my Hyper is! SO can you cut the end of the SG shaft to make it a "p" shaft or normal shaft???

Thanks for any help you can give!

Brian

Unobjectionable
10-22-2002, 02:39 PM
you could cut the shaft, but it should also be possible to install it without cutting, using a setup similar to the little spacer for the mad force (to take up the space at the end of the crankshaft with the longer bell)

did you buy the flywheel or any of that yet?

cleanmaxx brian
10-22-2002, 10:03 PM
I was going to use the stock flywheel... is that ok?

Also now that I ordered the 2 speed, I am now going to loose the center diff and the seperate front/rear braking:( How much of a downfall is that??? That was one of the cool parts of the LM and now I am getting rid of it:( I sure hope I like the 2 speed as it was $$$!

Hey, long time no post pplz =] I was just reading that reconditioning of piston and sleeve article on the RCZone Cars home page. Osrocket squeezes the sleeves to give compression back again. I've emailed him and i'm waiting for a reply because i am eager to get this job done!

I'm pretty sure it will cost way less than buying a new piston and sleeve and it might solve my flameout and hot restart probs... should be almost like new. I remember when the engine was new, and it ran really really well!! If my steering is not stuffed up, then i might start running the LM again. Need a new pullstart tho. And i haven't figured out if the steering prob is a dodgy servo or not. It is a tower hobbies (read: ex-hitec) super high torque servo. I got it for US$34.95 i think. I'm gonna send back my broken 2 speed for a refund and i might send the servo as well since it had a 12 month warranty and it's almost coming up on 12 months now.

Meanwhile i'm gonna get a job during the summer and save up to get the new T-maxx2.5... that should be cool fun. I am keeping my LM and in the future i'm going to make another custom LM based car with lotsa aluminium parts when i get the time to.

Oh, and btw... check out this tower link for a supposed "GS-21R 2 Speed Pilot Shaft"...

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXU749&P=7

It comes with a pulley and sure as hell looks like the stock pilot shaft!! Talk about false advertising...

hehe this is why you should always have the right part numbers, even tower makes mistakes...the correct replacement for either two speed (and the mad force) is KYOC4727 GT-20

glad to hear you have not totally given up on the hobby chris, i just hope you have better luck with the maxx...

brian, check to see if the stock one will fit on your sg engine...i don't think it will though, they are sneaky that way...

there are a few ways to go with the flywheel, the important part is that it should probably be 10mm thick (not counting the pins), but you should probably do a loose fitting and make sure thats what you need...ofna sells 3 and 4 shoe flywheel kits that come complete with everything needed for around $30, they have those (with pics) listed in the engine accessories at ace-hobbies.com

the kyosho parts are of course more expensive, there is the BSW-57 and 58 (2 shoe) sg flywheel and clutch nut which will use the stock LM2 (KC-45) clutch, or the IFW-50 3 shoe flywheel and its accompanying parts , the IFW-54 nut, the IFW-52 (black composite) or IFW-136 (blue aluminum) shoes, and the IFW-53 springs...

may also want to pick up the optional mad force part MAW008 (KYOC6607) as i think that will be key to making an sg engine work with the two speed...might have to dremel one end down to fit it in there, but it should serve to extend the crankshaft out enough to support that outside bearing in the bell...the ofna part OFN10099 (shims and spacer things) mentioned previous in the thread might also work instead...

hoping SixVi6 might chime in on this one, as i don't recall him saying what he had to get/do to fit the 4 port hyper 21 in his single speed LM2...it should not be too much of a hassle though, and i think you will like the two speed, and be surprised at how fast your car winds up being...well worth losing the center diff in my opinion...

cleanmaxx brian
10-24-2002, 10:52 PM
Well I picked up the 2 speed today along with 4 pairs of tires! I got the radial tires you recomended Ben. First I installed Monster Pirate front shocks all the way around. These are longer than the stockers so I used the top holes in the shock tower...talk about travel  Then I put in a Airtronics 94358 steering servo and a 94357 throttle servo. More than I need for sure;) I also got sway bars from a Kanai 7.5 and I will see if I can make them work with the short arms...I think I can. I picked up the "normal" engine mount and the spacer plates. I wonder if I can use the stock flywheel, clutch and what-not with my 8 port Hyper and just use the 2 speed clutch bell? I will tackle this on Saterday!

On another note, I am sinking $$$ into my Mad Force! It is getting NICE aluminium rims with Jumbomaxx Claw Dawg tires. I just installed these KILLER Carbon Fiber Wheelie bars;) I am also working on a custom carbon fiber chassis or waiting to see what Deam99 comes up with on Maxx Traxx. I just picked up all new RED hardend hardware that is going to look killer and I just put in 2 Airtronics 94358 servos...and yes I know, way overkill for the throttle! But I would not have it any other way! :D

So this weekend is gonna be busy:)

well, i was hoping john would give us a little more info on which flywheel he used *cough cough*...heheh...the LM2 comes with the same IF64 flywheel as the mad force does, i don't think it will fit over the sg crank (it is originally from the MP-6 SPORTS and i think it will only fit the GS-21)

those swaybars (IFW104 front and IF117 rear) are actually listed as a LM2 hopup in the 2002 kyosho catalog here (http://***********/gp20/Reference/Landmax2/Tuning-LM2.jpg), so they should be a direct fit, though i guess the ends will hang out a little further (snip snip)

sounds like your car is coming along nicely, you know where to send the pics..ehehe....should actually have some MOVIES for you guys soon, courtesy of jeroen....world's first movie of the world's first THREE SPEED landmax 1 and a few other neat ones...they are too big for me to host at the moment (unless i delete a bunch of crap, or pay more money i don't have) but it will be worth the wait...suffice it to say, 3 speed + xtm 24/7 + cvec = TOO MUCH POWER...(yes, i actually just said TOO MUCH POWER)...stay tuned for that, should have them up in a few days one way or another

ohhh that kind of chime in.. :D .. mmm flywheel and stuff.. yeah the stock one for the GS21 will only work on that engine sooo..

IF109 flywheel
IF108 engine mounts
IF107 engine mount spacer

The clutch nut I used is one that came with m SM chassis and used some traxxas teflon spacers to get the right fit. hehe.. I even run the IF109 on my t-maxx. ohh and I'm running an MIP MP7.5 clutch on my t-maxx and just replaced my worn stock clutch on my LM2 with it as well.. its MIP pt# 1523. Its a buck cheaper than the KC045 clutch at Tower and seems to work just as well.

XTM 24.7+3 speed and CVEC too much?!?! hehe.. my single speed mild ported 24.7 with a CVEC on my LM2 is sick as is.. more than wnough to have lots of fun but with a 2 speed it would be dangerous.. and the 3 speed?!?! OMG! no words can describe that. I can't wait to see that vid!

thanks for that john, i had forgotten about the IF109 flywheel...as an added bonus, it's much cheaper than the older BSW-57...it's also mentioned on page 29 of the LM2 manual so i don't know why i forgot to check that (thanks again for those scans, they are incredibly useful)...as your special reward, check about halfway down on this (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0091p.pgm?c=CMG&V=TRI) page...those are the "k force" bells mentioned a few pages back (distributed here by the trinity evil empire)...the price is right though (i have even heard of them being sold for as little as $5 at LHSs), and from what i understand they are very high quality and easily a match for the kyosho ones (they look cooler too)...i know you are probably not looking to buy any bells now, but nice to know there are cheaper alternatives...

i just received a little something in the mail from ebay, NIB BSW-67 all aluminum steering bellcrank (for supereight/LM1/inferno of course)...rather exciting as it is now more or less completely unobtainable, and cost roughly $75-80 or so when you COULD buy em (marked $114.99 on the package, on sale for $89.99 haha) and it cost me (wait for it) $21.50 SHIPPED...GAWD I LOVE EBAY...this now pretty much completes my collection of crap you can't buy anymore (and/or is retardedly overpriced) including the infamous BSW-55/GTW-6 aluminum center diff mount and my recently acquired (but well used) BSW-60 3mm blue anodized (not for long) turbo inferno chassis...now if i could only find a stash of those original super eight and esprit/landmax bodies (and a big pile of money)...hahah

so anyway, gimme a minute or two...i'm thinking i will temporarily whack some of the manuals section off the site to clear up some room for the video of jeroens 3 speed LM1...with the rally tires and his heavy trigger finger, it does some pretty wild tricks...

edit: done deal, right click and "save as" for repeated viewing enjoyment...i will get the rest up ASAP, there is also a cool in-car 3 speed one that is just way too big for me to host (17MB or so) and some nice ones with the same engine and pipe in his mad force and the LM with single speed, but this will give you the idea

Well, what do you think about Rossi R21 Eco engine? Is it better than GS21R?

I could sell my old GS21R for 100 euros and get the new Rossi R21 Eco engine with the same money. I donīt know anything about that engine. All I know is that it has 1,6 BHP and 30.000 RPM (or 1,5 BHP 28.000 RMP w/ps)

I would like to have more bottom end torque and a little bit more top speed. Do I with changing the engine? And if I do can I still use the same pipe with the new engine?

How could you compare it with the GS21R? Is it easy to tune etc.?

I donīt want to use too much money for the engine so I thought that would be a nice improvement, wouldnīt it?

You can find the engine in address:

I picked up a set of unbuilt NIP MP shocks for $35 shipped. I built them and as I expected the rear are way too long for the LM2 so I posted on maxxtraxx lookibng for some front MP shocks and ended up selling the rears for $25 and I have a line on a couple people that have MP shocks laying around to sell. Now I'm running stock shocks on the front and MP front shocks on the rear.

Also since here in the chicago suburbs it snows.. I'm setting my LM2 up for off road duty. I've put the side shields back on, softened up the suspension and should have some good front shocks by the weekend and hopfully will also have rally tires by the weekend also. anyways since I softened up the suspension I pulled out althe preload spaces and well.. All I can say is it is pretty cool to have all this travel. I set the car to sit at 1/2 its travel...so it is at normal ride hight but you can lift the car UP an inch and the tires are on the ground. You can push down on the car about an inch before the chassis hits the ground. I put a sway bar up front but body roll is still a lot! The car rides PLUSH  but if you grab a lot of brake, the nose dips so much it rubs the body:D As for the new motor and 2 speed, the car is so fast it is hard to control:eek: Spins all 4 like crazy off the line!!! well I was a senior medical calims approver but the comapny I worked for leased space in the sears tower and moved all their suburban offices there. I just can justify spending 3.5-4 hrs a day and roughly $3000 a year on train tickes, parking (at the trian station) and travel time. They gave no added incentives to anyone or anything but.. I had 326hrs (8+ weeks) of vacation time saved and I just recieved a check for today for that + the last two weeks of work in one lump sum! yeah 5.5 years and I was sick 14 days total, took 12 vac days, and 4 hrs of weather related missed time. yup I'm a work-aholic. so for now I'm taking a break.

lol.. brian great minds think alike. I spent $35 for the front and rear MP shocks. then sold the rear shocks for $25 and just scored some front shocks for $25! lol. $10 for shocks overall. not bad.

I can actually get just a bit more out of my Lm2 also becuase those pics were taken with stock front shocks. I just put some hard front 1/10 truck springs (which are soft compared to the stock springs) on the front, changed the fluid and changed the mounting points so they have about the same feel as the rear MP shocks. when I get the other set of MP shocks for the front I'll be able to get a bit better articulation out of them. lol.. I can't wait to run this thing off road and get a bit of action in some light snow. hehe..

on a side note.. I'm moving closer and closer to parting out the maxx and picking up an MF.. darn you guys and that stinkin MF forum at maxxtraxx!

Hey ppl! Just checkin in on the thread =]

I would like y'all to know that i'm now the proud owner of a GS Storm Pro... so hopefully i'm gonna have much better luck with this car!

I didn't buy it new cos i haven't got that kinda cash. Got it second hand from this really nice guy who decided to upgrade to a MP7.5 KE2, but the Storm Pro is in really good condition!

He was even nice enough to chuck in a Thunder Tiger Pro21R engine and i got the whole car minus electronics and wheels for a very very reasonable price :D

I feel quite confident about this car cos it's quite similar to the Landmax in basic design, but made out of some very cool metals and carbon fiber.

Anywayz... i shall be checkin in to make sure you guys are behaving yourselves =] Btw... i can't really touch my landmax cos i haven't cleaned it since the last run (about a month and a half ago) and if you even touch it, you get covered in castor! Urgh! I will clean it up eventually and i might sell it...

Hi Guys, I am going to be getting a On-Road car soon and i seriously want to get a 1/8 because of the better handling and more ruggedness in which they are built, there a few things putting me off a LM2 though... The engine is garbage, single speed and they're abit pricey.

Whats it like with the GS21R and Single speed on the speed stakes? also will i be able to drop in a Hyper21 8-Port and 2-Speed with no mods?

thanks

SixVi6
11-09-2002, 04:56 PM
the GS21 is a decent engine and really dos get the LM2 up and moving well and is eazy to tune and idles and runs well but its not the power house. To drop the hyper 8 port in you would need:

IF109 flywheel
IF108 engine mounts
IF107 engine mount spacer

then depending on the configuration of the engines shaft you would need a cluch nut or use the stock clutch nut shaft. ohh also you would need a 1/8 header and might as well put a good pipe on it as well at that point.

there are no hop ups needed to run the LM2 with a powerfull engine. Mine has been holding up great to a ported 24.7, 18t clutchbell, ofna off road 1/8 header and gutted CVEC pipe. not even the plastic spur gear has given me a problem with the 24.7 in there.

imo.. a 2 speed is not really needed just put an 18t clutchbell on the LM2 with that engine and a good pipe and it will really fly. Actually because of the the 2 speeds gearing a shifter LM2 will not be a top speed demon.. just an aceleration demon I believe there are some other clutchbells that can be used but I've been very happy wth the single speed thus far.

LM2's expensive? well yes but the only breakage I've had that was not related to a catastrophic crash was a worn drive cup and bone. I've personally never had an RC that has been this reliable either on road or off road. The only other parts I've broken was from a bad crash into a curb at high speeds with an 18t clutchbell when a tire came apart on me. I bent the chassis and the front dogbone in that one. my LM2 has been the best most reliable RC I've had as of yet and its ability to go from off road to on road just with a few suspension changes and a change of tires is great! later tomorow I'll have pics of my LM2 all set up for off road.

for more info and all the instructions online check out my site.

Fezzy, If I were you I should go for the landmax 2.

This car can be used on and offroad.

The car still makes me have so much fun even after almost two years, It's a multi talent, I have drove it with different setups on and offroad an amazed me everytime again.

And the newer type gs21 you find on the landmax 2 is good enough too start with, It's fast enough for a rally car

And the landmax is strong, never had too replace a part, only tires and body post.

The only thing that needs too be upgrade are the shocks and the plastic shocktower.

And here you can see if the parts are instock:towerhobbies again (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0005p.pgm?I=KYOC0528)

The 2 -speed does fit the landmax F-150 also part number gt-30

And landmax 1 is almost as nice as landmax 2

Nice vid...shows the speed of the beast. It is funny that you can't hear it shift... In the Mad Force it is easy to hear as long as you start out slow and even.

The shift point in this vids is not so good that's why you do not hear it.

But new vids are coming this week, with better shift sound and I hope camera onboard the car so you can see the speed realy.

Just spoke to Hobby Servises (they deal with Kyosho) and I was told that Landmax 1/8 will no longer be produced.

I wanted to buy the set with Subaru body and now am dissapointed. DO you guys know of any other 1/8 scale rally car that would be as good as the Landamx???

Would it make sense to buy the F150 kit and replace the body for Subary? WHat about the parts and support for this kit going forward??

Thanx

mmmmmmmm landmax videos...that dg1.avi is very cool...can't wait to see the new ones...

maxx- answered you over at maxxtraxx (i am BOOCAKE4U over there), but let me know if you have any more questions...

audi- all LM1s were officially discontinued by kyosho earlier this year since they now have the LM2....there is/was a subaru version of both cars, though they do have different bodies...the old style body looked like this (http://***********/gp20/misc/collectards02.jpg) (on the left), and the new style body can be seen above, on sixv6's car (and in many more pics on his website)...i am still looking for an unpainted old style subaru body myself, but i will probably have to order one from europe...eheh

if you are buying a new car, i do think the LM2 would be a better choice even with the price difference...parts for LM1 should still be available for a long time to come, but the LM2 is probably a better design and stronger in stock form...

if you absolutely MUST have an LM1, you can get very good deals on them used (ebay etc) or i can sell you one...hehe...if it's more a matter of cost, the same goes for LM2s...they seem to go for around $300 on ebay, with radio gear/servos etc

now for the good stuff...

here's some pics of pr0k's LM1 from this weekend...running his car with the GS-21, GT-30 two speed, and proline 1102's all around (back in 4wd mode now)...these are all posed, "rcca style" (haha), with me lying on the ground trying to hit the button at the right time...

another hard launch, nanoseconds before hitting my thigh (http://***********/gp20/Users/pr0k/pr0k-002.jpg)
spraying me with sand (http://***********/gp20/Users/pr0k/pr0k-003.jpg) (thats the elusive pr0k in the background)
rear shot of the prolines (http://***********/gp20/Users/pr0k/pr0k-004.jpg) - shows what i mean about the tires working their way inwards...note also that these tires are wearing incredibly well, they have quite a few runs on them now and still have plenty of tread and stick like glue
prolines up front (http://***********/gp20/Users/pr0k/pr0k-005.jpg) these are the ones with the 2.2" truck foams inside, they still work their way over though...no big deal as far as performance, just looks weird...small rip in the sidewall, probably from whipping the wheel at 40mph and sending the thing into flying cartwheels across the parking lot (yes, the prolines stick that well)
more dirt in my face (http://***********/gp20/Users/pr0k/pr0k-006.jpg) (they work pretty well offroad too)
and one last shot in the dirt (http://***********/gp20/Users/pr0k/pr0k-007.jpg)

now as if that wasn't enough...MORE MOVIES! many thanks to jeepinator for hosting these for me, wutta guy

thnx for that info,

I am more happy to buy LM2 where can I buy, I had problems finding it at Tower, when I called Kyosho they told me that Tower is effectively their stock so where do I buy it? It is not a metter of price. I like rally cars and ideally would like to have a Audi Sport quattro (the short wheelbase) I personally own a Audi Rally Quattro from 1984 A1 rally evelution replica. SO where do I buy LM2, do they really produce this one??

nice pics and vids. I bet you were spiting out a good deal of dust, dirt and sand on that photo shoot! :)

Audi... yeah Kyosho is making it very confusing to find LM2 stuff. Kyosho calls the Landmax 2 the "inferno mp 7.5 rally" even the instructions make reference to the "inferno mp 7.5 rally" but the box says Landmax 2 nothing about mp 7.5 rally. then you have tower hobbies that calls it Subaru Impreza MP-7.5.. nothing at all about Landmax 2 or rally. somebody needs to make up their minds on what its called! :) Its creates sooo much confusion.

Wow! Jeroen, that LM flies! Still kinda hard to hear the shift point cos it gets too far away by the time it shifts, but i imagine that thing would scream given enough space to run it in. Hey, what do you estimate the top speed of your car to be now??

Btw, how much do you reckon i could get if i sold my landmax?? The GS21R isn't in very good shape... lost compression and needs a new pullstart. Otherwise everything else is working quite well (Oh except those horrible shocks). Now that i got a proper 1/8th scale racing buggy i know what the shocks are supposed to be like. If Kyosho only put on decent shocks with the LM, it would be much more of a complete package i reckon.

In this vid it goes around 50mph I think

hope you guys enjoy it again

The stock madforce orange head engine is in it with this vid and the stock pipe.

Now I've adjusted the shift point,so you can hear it shift twice now.

BTW, the road was wet so the car maked soem cool slides, only the frames per second of the cam is too slow too realy see the slights.

Thanks for all the info, helping me lean toward the Landmax 2.$449 seems like alot more than $299 but when you do the math it's only $150 more or better yet maybe build the car from the ground up with option parts instead of getting the kit.Has anyone tried this, good idea or bad.Just sittin here looking at this big bag of T-maxx I'll never use again. Also,is there a better engine for the Landmax than the XTM 247 for under $180.are there any other bodies and wheels that will fit it besides the obvious replacements and what weight shock and diff oil does everyone use?

I was running it today in grass and in gravel then some high speed on road antics before it started to rain and thus far in the 50 deg weather the temps were in the mid 220's during hard running and still with a nice smoke trail. before I was running it rich to keep it below 290 when it was about the same temp out! now it tunes easier and runs a lot better but when it gets really cold out I think this heat sink will be too much cooling. so for the winter I may just run my megatech .21 heat sink but in the hot humid summer the Nova head will be excelent. I also droped the nova head on my maxx yesterday and ran it with roughly the same results.

Here are some comparison pics of a couple different heads.

Left to right.. Nove race pro, Megatech 3 port head, and stock head top view (http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/247_08.jpg)
Left to right.. Dr P can, Nova race pro, Megatech 3 port head, and stock head side view (http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/247_09.jpg)

the shocks are stock MP shocks with stock unmodified pistons and 30 wt trinity oil. For off road these rock but eventually I'm going to get some stiffer springs to set it up for better on road handling because thats what it sees most of its duty as. its a bit too softly sprung for my liking.

maxxattack..

the LM2 honnestly does not need tons of hop ups. I've had mine for a while now and other than the engine and a couple small hop ups mine is still stock. I don't believe it would be worth the cost to build one from the ground up also because the sheeer cost of some Kyosho parts. I'd just buy the LM2, get some 1/8 buggy front shocks for all four corners, a pipe, header, engine and mounts along with a big clutchbell and run it. compared to a maxx the LM2 is a dream because of its super beefy driveline. hehe.. I ahve a maxx too and yeah its got almost all aftermarket parts on it at this point but I still love it.

Now for other engine choices the hyper 8 port is out there and would a great engine because it has better top end than a 24.7. even an ofna pico .21 is an excelent engine. for bodies just about any landmax 1 bodies will work great on an LM2 'm not the most knowledgable on what out there so I can't help you too much there. fr whels and tires there are a few different ones available from kyosho but overall the bodies, wheels and tire choices are limited.

diff oil I'm running mugen 10,000 weight center, 7000 front and 1000 rear. it helps a lot in the handling and controability on all surfaces. I don't remember what I was running in my stock shocks but I hope this helps.

Sweet video! Love the excitement of dodging full size cars and trucks. What kind of camera are you using and how did you mount it so that the LM would slide rather than role. I can imagine a normal sized cam corder making the car ridiculously top-heavy.

Anyway, looks good!

On another note, when I was running my LM over the weekend, it started making this sort of chunking sound. It sound like the gears weren't mesching properly, but when i stoped it everything looked fine. It was weird too because it wasn't a rythmic sound and it only happened when I was on the throttle. Even when I pushed the car back and forth after I was done for the day I couldn't get it make the sound. Any ideas would be great...

Man, but I absolutely love this car. Every time I drive it, I'm amazed at how fast it is.

french-fry.. check the center dogbones and drive cups for wear. I had my front one wear the drive cup away pretty good. this kind of wear (http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/lmaxx_43.jpg) can cause a weird clicking noise. I replaced the bone and the drive cup and used an o ring shoved into the drive cup to keep the bone from moving back and forth and have not had a problem since... or an even better fix would be to replace the center dives with MIP CVD's (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXWM03&P=7) or Kyosho Universals. I actualyl bought a front center drive for mine but have yet to install it because I've not had problems with wear since.

This is the cam I use on the car,It's mounted or up front on the body or on the bumper upfront.

It does not rol because the cam is light in weight, and it's small, and I drove a little bit more rough.

Hi Rasta_Motard!

The two-speed will be very enjoyable so go ahead and have a nice time with it! But donīt tighten the springscrew too much, stop tightening immediately when you can feel it wonīt go any further so easily. I did that mistake with my GT-30 for LM1.

Jeroen, what is the production number of the K&N air filter youīre using in your landmax?

Rasta_Motard

In the manual they say to set the shift at 80 % of the motor rpm...

firefly21
11-18-2002, 11:03 AM
Do you have to gear differentially while running the 4 stroke, higher or lower?

For on road: do you swap out shocks to a smaller set, or just change the adjustments on the rally shocks?

What size of associated shock would fit the LM2 (RC10 GT fronts)?

What do you replace the z-bend steering linkage with?
tie rod and ball ends?...what size?

Thanks for the help, I have a LM2 on the way and thinking about selling the engine for $100 or so, and go with the 4 stroke.

SixVi6
11-18-2002, 01:31 PM
ehhh... 4 strokes on a car are just not that practical. you have to run a largest clutchbell to make up for the total lack of RPM 4 strokes have and even then i believe it will have no top end at all. possibly with a 2 speed and some massive clutchbells it may work better but I believe 4 strokes have an rpm limit of 18,000 rpm while 2 strokes can hit twice that with ease so even then a 4 stroke will have no top end. Also tuning a 4 stroke in a car is harder especialyl on a car and at that point you will also have to rig up a fan to keep the engine cool and buy a heat sink for it because 4 strokes do not have large heat sinks to cool it. I'd stay 2 stroke unless you really want to spend te time and money to get it all tuned and set up reliably. you can't beat that 4 stroke sound though!

I ran mine on road with the stock shocks for a long time. if anything you will want to replace the stockers if you are going to go off roading. The stock shocks are pretty stiff and are great for on road as is.

I'd not use 1/10 shocks on a 1/8 scale. 1/10 shocks will probably not have good enough dampening because of the small diamater shock bodies and not have stiff enough springs available to handle the weight of the LM2. The LM2 is twice as heavy as an RC10 but if you were to do it I believe the front GT truck shocks are about the same length.

on the steering linkage yes a tie rod and ball end but I don't know the exact size. what you could do is pick up some threaded rod and some ball ends and cut the rod to size. I happened to have a tie rod from an old HPI that I trimed down a bit and used. The threaded rod and ball ends will work just as well though.

You will not get $100 fo a GS21... they are bottom of the barrel in the HP dept and don't have the greatest longevity and it does not have standard motor mounts so it can't be used on other RC's without modifcations.

I hope this helps.

G'day everyone!
I'm new to this board and I don't have a Landmax yet and that is why I spend lots of time gathering information.

And after I spend about 6 six ours reading all the posts on this thread and by now I feel like I can easily assemble and then disassemble a LM without ever reading the manual :D

Afterall I guess I'll just have to get a LM2. It seems to be soooo much fun. I'll just wait and see till a good offer is coming my way.

Redfox you don't happen to have lived in QLD before, have you?

Hung_Kuen, I don't live in Norway, but in winter it does get cold in Germany as well. I also don't have a LM but I do have a HPI nitro RS4. I've had it equipped it with two different engines. The stock .12 engine and a K&B .18 engine. I broke them both in, in winter. I couldn't see a problem with that. It's not as if it would run too cold :p

I guess it can only help to keep the engine temp low.

So I'd say, go ahead!

By the way, does anyone have an idea for a good tuned pipe for the LM2?

When browsing the last 1000 or so posts, I had the feeling, the pipe should be the first thing to be replaced.

What I'm looking for in a pipe is max power and great sound.
I reckon the LM2 should have plenty torque, so top speed should probably be the thing to go for.

I've put my mind to the CVec S170. Does anyone have experince with that one, or maybe better advice?...

Thanks!

hung_kuen.. I'm sure you will ahve a blast with the LM2. its actually not a bad RC at all for peopel that are new to nitro. the engine is forgiving on the tuning and very eazy to break in and is fast engough to really have fun but not sooo fast it becomes a handfull.

Ethan Hunt.. yes the CVEC 170 is an excelent choice but the problem is CVEC does not make that pipe anymore. what you could do is get the Heli version of the 170 then remove the extension piece. the extension piece is the silver part on the heli pipe in this pic. (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBYG7&P=7) the problem is its really expensive. But gutted the CVEC 170 sounds wicked, and makes great all around power but its pretty loud like that too. I've tried the Newer style CVEC pipe the 165 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBYG2&P=7) and don't like it as much as he older 170.

other pipes to consider are the RB 086 pipe (http://acehardwarehobbies.com/2.2/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=20_21&products_id=2482). its a great all around pipe for a .21 and for the low buck powerhouse but not to good looking pipe the
Paris AL650 (http://acehardwarehobbies.com/2.2/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=20_21&products_id=1322). I hope this helps.

wow!! 700 euros? it would be worth it to get it shiped to you from elsewhere. I picked my LM2 up for $450 usd which is I believe about the same in euros at the current exchange rate but I still be that shipping would cost a pretty penny though so who knows if it woudl really be worth it.

No, i'm afraid not. 700 Euros is more like 705 US$.
I usually get my rc gear from the US. Even though I have to customs fees and tax when I have it shipped it's still heaps cheaper.

For example a HPI 2 Speed transmission is about 120 Euros in Germany. In the US it's what? 50 US$ ...

haha.. I found a good use for my stock GS21. It fits just right on the HPI RS4 2 that I got for free. (http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/hpi21_01.jpg) I made me a nice drag car. also with 18/44 gearing (stock is 13/44 I believe) this thing screams.

hung_kuen.. yup I have an LM2. (here is a pic of its current setup) (http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/lmaxx_47.jpg)
A great first hop up would be a pipe. it makes the GS21 much faster.. then it would have to be tires because after you get the pipe usually the tires end up bald pretty quick.

yeah its an expensive hobby but heck its a lot cheaper than building and racing real cars thats for sure!

Well I have decided to go with the 4 stroke...I live in a fairly residential area and think it will be more accepted to run the quieter 4 stroke. I am looking to run more of a rally style track, lots of turns, very little straights, with limited use on road. Has anyone on this forum installed the 4 stroke in the LM2 or know of someone I can email? I am just looking for some do's and don’ts. Thanks

the break in went perfect it aint doubt that doing it winter time helped alot on the engine temerature.. do you drain the engine for gas after every day of running.how do you see when to change your air filter, sparkplugs and then it goes on and on.
basicly i need to know som general maintanance... i am now a hooked nitro rookie this was great..

Hi all,

Everybody know that the gear ratio of the stock LM2 pignon & spur gear is 44 T/15 T...

But if someone is interested i've noticed that on the box of the GTW20 the ratio are 46 T/14 T for 1st gear and 43 T/ 17 T for the second gear...

This afternoon i start to install the gtw20 in my chassis, easy to mount but two negative point : 1 - no more potection on the brake for fuel flood. 2 - Only one brake disk (but i know that before) and the disk guides (between the disk and the chassis) are loss to...

Tomorrow i'll finish by mounting the clutch bell and reinstall the motor...

See you tomorrow...

:D

Oops i forgot i'd put some pics of the installation

hung_kuen..

check these pages... RC nitro articles.. page1 (http://www.rcnitro.com/rn/articles/index.asp)

and RC nitro articles.. page 2 (http://www.rcnitro.com/rn/articles/articles2.asp)

there is info on those articles on just about everyhting you will need to know.

I normally drain the leftover gas and put a few drops of light oil into the carb and pull the starter a couple times. as far as changing filters do that as you see fit. if its gets really cloged up with dirt and garbage clean it using some soap and water then lettin git dry completely or just replace it. sparkplugs or what in nitro is called Glow Plugs normally can be changed when they go bad. there is no general time frame or schedule to changing glow plugs either.

Rasta_Motard..

with that 2 speed it should really acelerate. at the moment I'm actually running 18/44 single speed only and because of the super powerfull engine I'm running it still has great aceleration. I could not imagine what mine would be like if I were to drop a 2 speed on there. I can't wait to se it all installed and set up!

ohh and for any new people... I don't know if I plastered it all over the place enough but I have a landmax 2 website.

SixVi6 Camaro's Kyosho Landmax 2 (http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/index.html)

Its simple and basic but gets the job done. lots of pics of building, pics, and all the instructions scanned. I have to update as there are lots of pics and hop ups that I have to add for my LM2 but its all there.

firefly21... going or the 4 stroke because its quieter? 4 strokes are Louder than 2 strokes. at least all the ones I've seen but all those have been on t-maxxes. I have no experience with a 4 stroke on an LM2. the only info I have on 4 strokes is From T-maxxes over at maxxtraxx. (http://64.57.211.62/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi?;act=SF;f=24) I really don't know any more than that.

I'm using OS 4 stroke in my LM and it is much much quiet than your screaming 2 stroke engines.

You also get get better mileage with 4 stroke engine.
(about 30-40% some say even 50% more)

4 strokes have much much more torque which is inherent to 4 stroke engines but lack the power of the high reving 2 stroke engines.

4 stroke engine never stall as they do not "load up".

resonably easy to tune but becarful of running lean...

require a higher oil content than 2 stoke engine....2 stroke engines can run fine with 10-12% oil but 4 stroke will require 18%...

With the right gearing they can keep up with 2 stroke engines.

if you havent seen it, here is an article about 2 stroke vs 4 stroke
http://www.rcnitro.com/articles/2str_4str.asp

I race 1/8 buggies on a competative level so my LM is for bashing around and purely showing off :D

Most memorable moment with my LM was clearing the huge triple jump that only the 1/8 buggies can clear....seeing the LM (Mitsub. Lancer rally) do it was purely awesome!!!! :D

I have put my RB WS7 Rody mod. in with the 2speed and it was dare i say it "too fast" and over powered......the 4 stroke single speed using the huge 4 stroke bell/pinion gear is much more fun and manageable, atleast running offroad rally style...

anywayz.....l8r

belgravekm.. I wish I could help you but I have no idea on that engine. I'm gong to assume it has the standard .21 motor mounts so getting it on the chassis should not be a problem. It should mount just like the OS engine or very close to it. I could not tell ya where to get a pull start though. usually with the .21's to put a pull start on a non pull engine requires a modification to the crank or a whole new crank, backplate, one way, one way chaft and pull start assembly but I can't be positive on that engine.

hung_kuen.. I'm glad you are having fun. the LM2 is a blast to drive and therally style powerslides are the best! Have a blast with it.

Well, I finally found myself a place to host some pictures so... here they are:

First off, just a shot of my Landmax and Tmaxx in my dorm:
http://www.bol.ucla.edu/~serriere/smalldorm.jpg

Then, a shot of the LM on my desk:
http://www.bol.ucla.edu/~serriere/small.JPG

Finally, this is for Rasta Motard. Umm, you should be able to keep both disks, just put both of the arms on top (see picture). I did some funny stuff with the front disk, i had some longer screws lying around so i just kept the old disk on and added another one. I don't know if this actually helps the braking, but, whatever.

Yup, so that's it.

If anyone knows a cheaper place to buy from in Australia please point me in the right direction.

SixVi6
11-23-2002, 02:47 PM
$449 is about the average price in USD here in the states. the landmax 2 well worth it. the layout is very nice and has some really tough suspension compared to the LM1. the LM2 is based on the latest MP 7.5 buggy with all the nice suspension and handling mods like a lower center of gravity and smaller but still really tough diffs and overall strong parts. most definetely go for the LM2 though if you are buying new. Also the landmax 1 is no longer being poduced so whats left on the shelves is all that is left. Hope this helps.

if the engine sounds like gurgly and there is a lot of smoke and oil coming out of the pipe its rich. this is what yours is may be but I can't be sure. Lean the high end out an 1/8 turn at a time by turning the needle clockwise then give it a workout. I know that my Gs21r liked to be at 2 turns when it had the stock pipe on there.

What I've just sad though is just a basic thing because it sounds like the engine is rich. read this article. (http://www.rcnitro.com/rn/articles/super_tune.asp) It coveres just about everything on tuning, glow plugs, and more. it explains more than I'd be able to here. I hope this helps.

Hey !
I bought a LandMax2 a couple of weeks ago, and i find it extremly fun to drive and very tough. I am thinking of buying another body and some new rims and tires.

Can any of you guys tell me if the Nissan GT-R skyline landmax1 body will fit?

And what about the six spoke "chrome" rims with part number : LXV778 at Tower hobbies will these fit my Landmax2 without any other mods?

As i am situated in Norway, and my LHS does not stock any of these items I would like to be sure before i order them from Tower..

Hope you guys can help!

From my experience the LM bodies are interchangeable and should fit with little modication on either the lm 1 or 2 vehicles. I have mounted the lm 2 Subaru body (the one you have) on my LM1 (originally the Lancia) without any problems). I also have the Nissan body you ask about (I think it is the slickest one available, especially for on-road duuties...chopped and dropped!). I imagine you should not have any problems fitting it on your ride...which by the way looks pretty cool.
As for the "chrome" wheels you asked about, they too will fit, as all the lm wheels available are also interchangable. I also bought them but was disappointed by their look. They are not really chrome, but instead are painted (poorly) with silver paint. I removed the paint with brake cleaner (probably could use oven cleaner too...test on plastic first!!!) and then dyed them black by boiling them shortly with RIT dye...much more trick looking. If you want pretty good looking "chrone" wheels for your lm look into the stadium truck (Exxon Superflow lm1) wheels. They will fit all the lm tires fine (I mounted the slicks on mine) and look great.

Btw, the Landmaxes must be pretty popular over there in Norway. I see that many of the recent posters on this thread are fellow Norwegians.

Off the subject, does anyone on this thread have a local club or hobby shop have a nitro rally racing class? Man i think that would be so cool...a little tarmac mixed in with some mud, dirt, snow, etc. Maybe even a Landmax only class! Kyosho should sponsor a national (or international Landmax circut) to increase intrest in these rally vehicles...kinda like what Tamiya does with their various "classes" of vehicles. Just my opinion.

SixVi6
11-24-2002, 09:42 PM
yup Kirk is 100% right. Lm1 and LM2 bods are interchangeable as well as the wheels. those wheels should fit fine on your landmax 2.

one local track runs a rally class but its for hpi rallys by me. the LMs are too big and fast for the likes of them. at times if they have enough people theyve run HPI super nitro classes also but again the LM2 is still to big even for those. the best I've been able to do is show up on practice day and have some fun on some on road tracks but thats it. I did once catch up to a guy that had an ofna GTP at the track but it was always broken and he got rid of it. I wish Kyosho would do a tamiya style cuircuit to highlight their various RC's and promote their products. even if it was only an on road event it would still be cool to just see a group of LM's racing! ohh well one can dream!

Jeroen: No, the wing is the one that came with the Impreza body, but i sprayed it with an aluminumlike silver colour. I have had a couple rather bad crashes since the pics were taken and my wing didn't like them, so maybe i will try to fabricate one out of aluminum..

Kirk&SixVi6: Thanks for the info concerning the body and the rims!! Tower does not have the body in stock, so i'll have to wait a bit for that one, but i will go for the rims. If i get disappointed with the finish as well i will probably do like Kirk did..

Ohh this is Sixvi6.. same great person.. new SN now this SN matches all the others SN's I use on other boards!

anyways, LM2's are not popular here in the USA because many people don't even know about rally cars at all. also most of the cars in the WRC are not even being imported to the US but the popularity of the rally is growing. one problem though is that NASCAR, borring oval racing (Snore.. ZZZzzz), is soo popular here I doubt the rally thing will become at all big. oh well we do have lots of monster trucks!! lol.. :)

Yes the S3003 will work but if the wheels take a hard hit it may strip the servo gears. Other than that the radio gear will work fine and those servos will work. You can upgrade to a new steering servo later if you like too for better performance and strength.

hung_kuen..

just switch to 20% of some kind. 20% is great for general use and cost wise its usually cheaper than going with the higher % nitro fuels. if you really want more power you can go with 30% but it may require ading a head shim or a change of glow plug. you could get away with going o 20% without any changes but you will have to retune it. After you find a fuel you like stick with it.

Well I'm off to run my LM2 and T-maxx in the fresh snow that is falling now! woo hoo!

FRESH SNOW, man some people have it kucky, all I get is mud.

Also I want to choose a new rally body. Which one do any of you think is the best

SixVi6-Camaro
11-26-2002, 04:38 PM
hung_kuen... cool the 25% should be fine because now that I think of it I ran 30% in my GS21 and didn't change a thing. It was my Hyper .21 that didn't like the 30% until I added an extra small shim. So go for it!

Jimmy33... You are missing out only a little bit. Higher % nitro will give you more power. To me though its a minimal gain and someimes the added cost of higher % nitro makes it not worth it but some people say that higher % nitro makes engines much more powerfull. I'd say give it a shot!

Yeah I ran my LM2 a bit in the snow after I plowed the deep stuff down a bit with my t-maxx. I got some shots of my t-maxx though.. I just posted the shots on MaxxTraxx right Here (http://64.57.211.62/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=29;t=7750) (56K beware on this post about 5 good sized pics). I may go back out a bit later and get some shots of the LM2 in the snow. its tough holding the camera in one hand and controlling the RC all with the other hand.

Yeah I've found that when you switch fuels it tends to kill glow plugs. so once you find a fuel you like run with it. I used to run McCoy MC-59's (hot rated plug) in my GS21. Most engines generally like hot plugs. Plugs for .15's and .21's are the same so any other plugs that your friends has will drop right into you GS21. I've also used OS A3's as well in my GS with good results but theMcCoy MC-59's were the best.

I think you just answered yourself.

Its a Picco Integra On road car with rally wheels/tyres.

Not a good choice for rally/offroading cuz its belt driven...shock design layout for on-road use (layed down too much for offroad)

Like is said...its just a on-road with rally wheels/tires....

What kind of ground clearance is on this car?

Jimmy33
11-28-2002, 10:56 AM
you cant beat the LM series.....anyone here will agree.....

Well maybe if you want to spend Ģ350000 you could by a real one!

Ground clearance can range from 5mm (or less) to 5cm or even more. I run mine (the truck) with 3cm of ground clearance, and thats gets it over many a ploughed field!

Today i finaly tested the new pipe,it felt much better but dont think i got the tuning so god that i should have been.

the manual says that i should sett the high speed needle fully rich then, adjust the low speed needle until you get a good idle.
once the low speed needle is set go back and set the high speed needle.

when you are setting the lowspeed needle what do they mean by good idle-that it raises rpm steadily,or good accelaration

i can get steady low speed but once i pull the trigger it dies because its to rich on the high speed needle.

so basickly i am a littel confused what they meen..
i have a setup now that works but i dont think its near maximum.

thanks for all help:) :)

jeroen
11-30-2002, 12:16 PM
Almost everyone, does first tune the high speed needle, and then the low speed.

This works fine for me

You shout beable too find a good high speed setting, pretty easy, so it perfoms good on the high rpm range.

then you can lean out the low speed needle for good aceleration and fast climing in rpm, so if you pull the triger from idle that the engine pics up direct.

Always start with a rich setting and lean it by small turns on both needles, first the high speed then the low speed needle
And be sure that there is always a nice cloud of smoke coming out of the pipe.

Most of my tuning is based on the feeling, the engine must perform well but not too well, I drive my engine a little rich so they life longer.
Performance is not everthing, most of the time a rc car is too fast for it's driver anyway.

hung_kuen
11-30-2002, 12:44 PM
this pipe has a regulator and therefore you have to set the lowspeed first and then the high speed or else you will lose alot of top end power.. this is what the manuel says.. thats the problem i dont understand how to set the low speed without the topspeed dialled

jeroen- thanks man

hung_kuen
11-30-2002, 12:47 PM
jeroen- and by the way the car is too fast for me.. :D just want to practice some tuning skills :D :D

jeroen
11-30-2002, 01:56 PM
Aha

You have a cvec

That's a different story

Me also have the coolest pipe on the market LOL cvec z170

Yeah the cvec has a verry different tuning on the engine, the low speed must be turned in a few turns too make it perform well.

If you use the cvec for the first times, you have too turn in the lowspeed needle more then with the stock pipe, then do the high speed needle, and then go back too the low speed, for the best performance.

Always difficult too explain how too tune your engine.

The best thing is too hear it from a few guys, so you have different opinions on how too tune your engine.
And so you can choose the best one for you.

Most importend thing is, that you have fun in doing it, it is an always returning thing when you drive a nitro rc car, the more you do it the easier it gets.

Is the Landmax a on-road vehicle or off-road?

On this forum I see comments of people "converting" the car for on-road use.

I thought this car was designed for flat dirt racing?

jeroen
12-01-2002, 03:51 PM
It can do on and offroad as well.

Little changes have too be made for use on or offroad, like ride hide and tension of the springs different tires etc.

The landmax is a real rally car,it can do flat dirt racings perfect

Hi guys!

I was out driving earlier this evening, and my one way bearing in the pullstart of my GS21r started to fail.. The engine would turn over once, and then it started to slip... I was mad!

When i got home, i pulled the thing apart, cleaned it and installed it again. It seems to be ok for now??!

Has this happened to any of you, and if so, did you find a permanent fix to this problem? Are there improved parts that can be bought?

Is the one way bearing available as a separate part, or do i have to buy the complete pullstart assembly?

THX in advance!!

Yup,
Slipping of the one way bearing (on ths starter shaft) is pretty common on pull starters and electric type "easy starters" (well all the pull start engines I have had including the GS 21 have had this problem ) and is usually caused by a combination of oil, condensation and sometimes just wear on the stater shaft. I too got fed up with tearing down and cleaning the pull starter to clean the bearing on a too often basis. One solution is to spray a few shots of nitro car cleaner (or motor cleaner, contact cleaner etc...probably best to stay away from lubricating type agents such as wd-40 which leave a residue and dont completely evaporate like the other suggested agents) down into the pull start through where the pull start cord exits. Wait about a minute for the spay to evaporate (dont want to take a chance, though slim, of fumes combusting when staring the engine) and then give the cord a pull...there should be no slipping..if so repeat.
if you want to get fancy you can do what the tmaxx guys do for the old electric starters: drill a small hole in the center of the pull starter assembly and screw in a fuel nipple with a touch of silicone (to prevent an air leak). Attach a short piece of fuel line to the nipple and secure the rest of the tube to the rear shock tower. Place a 3x8mm a screw or some type of plug in the other end of the tubing. When the bearing slips pull off the "plug" and insert the nozel hose of the motor spray and give it a few quick "shot". then recap and enjoy a day of running your lm. I did this modification to my GS21 without problems and it worked great. I did get rid of the GS 21 at a later time but that is a different story.

Hey hung_kuen, you should always tune the high speed needle first, like jeroen said. The reason for this is that the high speed needle actually regulates the fuel flowing into the carburetor from the fuel line. Which means that if you do what you said above and tune the high end very rich, you will have a rich low end. And then when you tune your low end so you have good punchy acceleration, you will still have a rich high end. Then when you get around to tuning your high end, you will make it leaner (since you started off rich) and in turn, by letting less fuel into the carby with the high end, you will cause the low end to run too lean.

I hope what i just said wasn't to complicated. So basically, start with a rich low end (not so rich that it causes you to bog and stall when you start accelerating) and then tune the high end. Obviously it won't accelerate fast at the start but that's not a big problem. Try to concentrate on the high speeds of the car and tune the high end needle 1/8th of a turn until you feel that you have maximum acceleration and speed at the top end with good throttle response. Be careful not to run it too lean because even tho it will be much faster and seem more powerful, it will drastically shorten the lifetime of your engine. A good trick is to make sure there is still a faint trail of smoke from your pipe. This means you aren't running it too lean.

Now that your high end is set, you can worry about your low end and it's initial acceleration. Just keep leaning it out slowly until your car has a punchy acceleration off the line. My experience with the GS21R is that the low end needle can be very touchy sometimes. So make adjustments with a maximum of 1/8th turns.

Now your engine should be tuned perfectly. Over time you will get a feel for the tuning from just listening to the engine and feeling it perform. Always remember to just run around for about 2 mintues to get the engine up to operating temps. If you don't, your performance will change as it heats up. The GS21R also overheats something chronic (unless you got the new heatsink head) so the more you run it in one session, i suggest richening the settings slightly to compensate for this heat.

Hope this helps,

Chris :D

Hey everyone!

I finally got me my own LM.:D
Actually I was looking for a LM2 but then I found an (to me) unbeatable offer at this (I won't say the name ) internet auction.

I paid only € 250 for a brand new, never ran, neatly built LM1 !
I am stoked! Don't try to get me down because you got yours for less!

So I've got some more questions. Was ever anyone as stupid as to put in a OFNA Force .25?
As far as I've read in this forum, the old GS21R seems to be a bit crappy. So I thought I should run it like hell until it smokes out.

Also I'm still looking for the perfect type. I'm keen for the Cvec z170 but it seems like it's not being produced anymore.
So now there's the z165 and one, I've seen at acehobbies, the Cvec18. But about those two pipes I've never read a review.

So, all you speed-freaks, tell me all you know.

My LHS has a LM for sale. The owner built it and ran it and is parting ways with it.

He is out due to health issues for a while, so his daughter (who is clueless about R/C) is helping him out in the store.

She can't find the owners manuel so i can't tell if it;s a LM1 or LM2.

Is there a way to tell the difference without documentation?

Yes there is. Most obvious I guess is the fan. If it is a stock LM1 there should be a small fan in front of the engine for cooling. The LM2 doesn't have it.

Also the LM1 has got a blue anodized cooling head. the LM2 has got a black one, with a black pipe. The LM1 pipe was silver

I think those should be the most obvious things.

hmmm... well one eazy way to tell is to look at the steering brace.. on the LM1 it will be a blue aluminum triangle that connects the front bulkhead to the steering bellcranks. on the LM2 the same piece will be a "Y" shaped piece most likley gold in color. lets see...

This is the LM2's front brace.. notice the Y shaped front gold aluminum brace as well as the black head on the engine.
http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/lmaxx_14.jpg

look at the pics at This link.. (http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=931326&uid=600952) They are of an lm1. Notice the Lm1's triangle blue aluminum front brace.

Also the LM1's I believe had grey suspension arms while the LM2 have Black suspension arms.

I have lots more pics of my LM2 Right here (http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/pics.html).

I hope this helps.

edit... I just ran my LM2 in the snow for a bit. hopfully in a bit I'll have some Lm2 in the snow pics. first I ahve to clear up some space on my webspace. I'm going to deletthe redundant and old pics and update my site a bit to include more info on my maxx. I'm keeping all the LM2 instructions up for now though.. actually I use them a lot myself online.. its easier than diging out the instructions. lol!

six , cool pics man

I like the look of the lm in the snow, do you have spikes in the tires?, other wise it must slide more than it drives.

Can you make vids of the lm in the snow, hope so because I think there will be no snow in holland this winter.

Are the landmax bodies made from Lexan?

SixVi6-Camaro
12-03-2002, 02:53 PM
Thanks everyone!

yup.. the Landmax bodies are clear lexan. expensive though, all of them are in the $70 usd range but thus far my LM2 body has been to all kinda of thrashing and its holding up very well. Its some good strong high quality lexan.

jeroen.. nope I have no way of making vids. I wish I did I've got lots of cool ideas for all kinds of silly vid ideas involving my maxx and LM2.

I don't have anything but the soft compound rally tires on there and yes it slides all over the place in the kindof snow I was driving it in. Its fun to do for about 10 mins then it gets kinda old because its just too hard to keep going straight and actually drive. In the pics I took the snow was a bit too deep for it. Its best when there is a light thin layer of snow on the ground. Its much more controlable then and still a lot of fun.

I was searching the Tower Hobbies site, preparing to place an order for the Landmax, but there are none to be found!

Tower shows ALL Landmax kits discontinued???

What the heck is going on here?

Anyone know of an good internet dealer that sells the Landmax?

SixVi6-Camaro

lol.. well Kyosho and tower don't call it the Landmax 2.. its pretty silly really.. OK..

Kyosho calls the LM2 the MP 7.5 rally noplace do they say Landmax 2

Tower calls the LM2 the Kyosho Subaru Impreza MP-7.5/GS .21R they only say landmax 2 in the tech notes.

The box it comes in says Landmax 2 but no mention of 7.5 rally.. weird stuff.. anyways.. Right here is the link to the Tower Hobbies Landmax 2 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LL6585&P=1) Everybody has problems finding it on towers website.

Thinking of making snow tyres - maybe take some slicks and stick small pins through the tyres. Or use some buggy spike typres whch fit of the standard rims! :D

JonA
12-04-2002, 05:48 PM
Hi !

Jimmy 33- Could you please post it if you find buggy tires that fits the original rims of the LM2.. I'm a bit confused when it comes to tires and rims that will fit the landmax, and help would be appreciated.. I have been driving a bit in the snow, and the stock tires ain't to bad if there is not to much snow or ice.

I currently run the stock tires and rims, but i have ordered some slicks and new silver six spoke rims from tower hobbies. Don't know when they will show up here in Norway tough.. Seems like it could take some time..

Hung_kuen- Would you recomend the "CVEC" pipe ? What did you pay for in Bergen in NOK?? Did they have to order it, or did they have it in stock? What's the name of the store?

What weight of shock oil do you guys run, and have any of you filled your diferentials with "silicone fluid" ?

Jon A

SixVi6-Camaro
12-04-2002, 06:00 PM
Silicone in the diffs. heck yeah! its a great tuning aid and helps a lot especailly in power slides. :)

right now I'm running 3,000 front, 10,000 center, and 1,000 rear. I use mugen diff oil for my Lm2. I like heavy weight in the center because it more evenly distrubitues power to the front and rear. most usually run 5000 in the center as a starting point.

hehe my maxx which has a MP 7.5 diff conversion is running 30,000 front and 10,000 rear. This super heavy weight is necessary because of all the weight of the large tires.

JonA- i strongly recomend the cvec pipe it has an great efect on the stock engine.
the pipe got a regulator as well and can regulate if you want bottom end punch or high end.

My lhs has one more in stock i think, the name is hobbyland a/s and their phone number is 55324488.

you properly know of small size a/s but anyway their number is 22172811 or www.smallsize.no

the pipe is 898,- nok thats about 120 euro,i cant attach any photo hear because i can`t get the file small enough for some reason:confused: but if you e-mail me i`ll send you a picture of the pipe:D :D

Hung_kuen- That CVEC pipe sure was expensive!! A friend of mine at work has ordered one from Tower Hobbies (together with my tires.... So i haven't seen it in the flesh yet) But i have seen pics of it. I think it costs 50$ from Tower.. I think i will wait and see how his LM2 works with the new pipe before i order one for myself.

For now my car is fast enough for me bone stock!:D

Kirk- I modified the pullstart with the fuel hose and niple today, and it works great!! Thanks! My last cleaning of the oneway bearing lasted only a couple of runs in the snow before it started to slip again..

My LHS sold me 30000 and 60000 weight silicone fluid for my diffs.. Is this way to thick to put in my LM2 diffs??

Does any of you non Americans any experience with delivery from Tower Hobbies? I ordered my stuff 9 days ago, and they still have not shipped it... I'm not very impressed!!
