Hi everyone. The Escalade finaly left the body shop and today it finaly hit the trail in its new trim. I love how it came out and cant wait to start the next project. Let me know what you think, I know this has been a long time coming for a lot of people as I have recevied hundreds of emails and comments on forums about the body and paint so without further ado lets see the new and improved 05 Escalade off road edition.

Jasonw, I like the look of your pajero (errr, touareg). I'm thinking that if I want a scale 4x4 vehicle, a Tamiya Race Touareg will be my best option. I don't have the time or resources to built a custom 6x6 unimog!
Umm, how big are these things? What is the diameter of the stock tires? I just don't have a very good idea of the Touareg's size.

I'm getting my rig back up. I just recieved my drivetrain overhaul package, G parts and New ring gears/diff lockers/rear shafts and a short UJ.
Next in line is a new rear tranny case as mine is in a sorry shape right now, all the link points are broken off.
Man those things are hard to find.
4wdmt, you're breaking my balls with that shipping, however you are the only person on the entire internet that has the rear axle case (0005519) available.

I might have to try bracing the link mounting points with JB Weld or something, to give them more surface area to grab onto.

Your best bet will be to pick up a new, unused and unpainted Pajero body.
I painted mine on the inside, using Tamiya Red Frost and Metal Red paints, backed with silver.
For decals, you can try contacting TamiyaUSA via phone or E-mail. They're usually easy to deal with, and they should be able to help you out with decals. http://www.tamiyausa.com
Also: check out http://www.scale4x4rc.us , another good source for scale R/C and Tamiya XC info.

Well I know its on the market but I am not geting any takers anyway. I decided to do a little more work to my Blue Escalade tonight. It is now the official patrol vehicle for my 1/10th scale national forest. I hope you liek the vidio as much as I loved doing this and looking at it. Unfortunatly the lights are timed right now but I am working on a switch so they will stay on constantly. FYI the vidio is in AVI format, Trust me its worth the download, its only like 4.6 megs and as a last note my rig is blaring the perfect song for the long trail patrol days. Hope you enjoys.

Hi Guys -
I was wondering how much an RTR Pajero would be worth these days. I have one run in the basement for about 5 minutes. I understand they are discontinued and so I am hoping the value would be a little higher.
If anyone knows how much I could reasonably ask I would appreciate it.

Any of you guys know of universal or cv front axles for the Jero? I picked up a touareg and mint wrangler.... I'm hooked on these things. My Bruiser chassied, tlt axled crawler had definatley taken a spot on the back burner. I can't believe how well the Touareg with locked diffs, cut BF's, and a lathe motor, moves through the snow. When it does bog down, I just winch out.
Better yet, do any of you guys have or know of a spread sheet of tamiya parts that cross reference to the cc-01 chassis?

You won't find a Wrangler for a good price. I saw one sell last night on Epay for $331 plus shipping. Pajero's are hard to find aswell. The same chassis with a slightly longer wheelbase is still offered as the Paris/Dakar Touareg. I think tower has it with esc for $179. Trust me, I know what they've been selling for. I've had a horrible addiction for the last couple months. I've bought a Touareg, a Pajero XB (lexan body), a Wrangler, and a new in box still sealed Pajero Metal Top. I just need a CRV and an Amigo and the collection is complete.
Forgot to mention, you can probably expect to pay in the neighbourhood of $120 - $140 for a Wrangler body, if you can find one. Usually one of the Asian ebay sellers has one, no auction, buy it now only. And they want a fortune to ship.

03-06-2006, 08:49 AM
Well, to convert to nitro you would have to have pretty good fab skills, it just won't "go together". But if I even wanted to do it that way I would get a dual shaft motor, as in another shaft comes out the back of the motor. Keep the motor on, just use it to transter the nitro spur to the electric motor pinion. Get a spur attached to it and then mount the engine however you can on a metal plate. Hard.
dogboy
03-06-2006, 09:57 AM
the chassis are flat on the bottom right? well if they are it would be easy to mount the engine but it would be harder to mount the servo (throtel). and do you know how the brakes work on nitro, that might be hard to do also

What wheels/tires did you use and did you have to mod anything? That setup looks sweet!
These are from the TLT kit, they are a direct fit, and they are sweet

You gotta cut your body to make the wheels fit. I tried them on my hardshell and took them off because of that one problem.

Dear all , I just have a tourage , I want to improve its speed by replacing RS540 motor 16 T by Tamiya sport tune type R with 20T
Is my change is correct and do not damage any thing ( I can not get spare part for my car )
Anybody have other idea how to make it faster ., please show me
BRG

05-08-2006, 10:14 AM
If you want to make it go faster then you want a lower turn motor. The lower the turn # then the faster it will go but the less torque it will have and for a higher the turn # the slower it will go but it will have more torque. So it sounds like the change you were going to make would actually make it go slower.
QUANGVV
05-08-2006, 09:15 PM
Tks for your hepl
But I think my change is faster because :
1-Tamiya type r have rev higher than stock motor ( type R max speed 22000 rpm@220g.cm , stock is Mabuchi RS 540 SH have 17000rpm@340 g.cm (about ))
2-Decrease gear ration : from 16T pinion to 20 T
Actualy result is not good , my speed seem not increase compare with stock condition ( because torque not enought , I think )
So I think I will have type R motor with 16 T pinion to increase torque while keep high motor rpm
Anyone try out to change other set up and their result

Sorry I misread your post, I thought that you were saying that you were going from a 16 turn motor to a 20 turn. But I just figure out that you meant that you were going from a 16 tooth pinoin to a 20 tooth. So yeah, that should make it go faster especially since you are going to a faster motor and a bigger pinion gear. What would also make it go faster would be to get a smaller spur gear (the one that the pinion gear goes into) but I don't know if they make many for the jero. If you are making it go faster then you might want to think about lowering it because I hear (I don't actually have one of these i just want one but will never get one) that they rolll over easily even wiith the stock setup when cornering.

Tks your information
I back to stock motor with pinion 16 T because it easy to roll over
And because with Tamiya sport tune motor type R and 20T I can not get higher speed on- road( reason is torque not enough , I think )
My purpose is run on-road only and get car as quick as possible

Sorry for my poor English
now I will explain My VW Tourage have problem : When I steering the front wheel of my VW jerking ,
Reason : People say that because of rod is slop ( the rod is verticaly go from under to upper chassis , and loosen with outside cover )
Repair method : I was recommended add grease to this rod ( other way is add 2 bearing ) to reduce slop
My question : Is this repir method is OK or not , and do you have other method to improve my VW jerking while steering
, Thankyou in advance

It shouldn't hurt anything as long as there are no electronics that the grease will be touching. I have heard that it has worked for other people that have these and it has fixed steering problems.

The steering assebly in the XC-01 chassi is abit crap, but do I understand correct that there is slop in the wheels when at full steering or is the steering spasmic?
QUANGVV

slop(jerk) at when I steering , at run straight no problem , at low speed you can see ,
I know have method to correct this is by modify to ball bearing of rod , result is OK , but is there other way more easier ?

All on here will probably think this a silly question, but,
how does the Tamiya Stadium Raider compare to the Pajero for off roading, and toughness?
Many thanks.
DCLXVI
07-05-2006, 01:12 PM
If the stadium raider is what I think it is I'd say that the Raider is much faster and probably about as though...the Pajero is better suited for doing scale crawling as it is to top heavy to go fast...
minijosh
07-18-2006, 08:16 AM
The Raider is a TL01 with bigger tires. Only 3 pinions needed. The Ford Ranger and Chevy S10 are the better of those types of trucks. They are TA02's.
I'd stick with the XC range if you want to look good and have a vehicle that can drive well.

That is NICE.. what body did you use?!
I used a body from the Blackfoot Xtreme, the wheels and tires are from the TLT
In order to use this body i had to shorten the wheelbase to Pajero XC spec. As the touareg has a longer wheelbase.
If you paint the Touareg a "little" different, it wont be as bad ;)

So the Blackfoot Extreme has a shorter wheelbase?!
rojna-pl
08-22-2006, 07:57 PM
The CC & XC chassis can be built with a long or short wheelbase, the only different part is the drive shaft which is longer in the Touareg, I just cut my down to size.
1 pic is long wheelbase
2 pic is short wheelbase

Anyone has try to drive it on road w/ locked diff?! Are the diff the type that you can packed w/ thick grease to create a limited slip effect?
rojna-pl
08-31-2006, 01:07 PM
You can run on-road with the rear diff locked, but if you try with the front diff locked, you will end up bending & twisting the front dog bones :(
The diffs in the CC01 arent "sealed" type so you cant create a LSD efect, I tried heavy diff silicone but it just leaked out making a big mess :( I just ended up locking the front diff solder, it makes a huge difference when runing offroad.
cfjan
09-13-2006, 12:34 PM
Yeah.. the grease packed diff doesn't work.. the grease just get squeezed out of the diff.. doh!
I ended up using the kit pieces to lock the rear.. haven't locked the front diff yet.. will run around with this setup for awhile before I lock the front..

The battery holder is designed for the older smaller batteries.. the new NiMH really don't fit (a little bit too long.. by 0.25" or so)

Works pretty well, I think! :D (and stay w/ Tamiya as well..!)

yes they have a standard 12mm hex and fit without any modifications, but you must raise the body a little.
cfjan
09-24-2006, 05:12 PM

cfjan
09-29-2006, 03:05 PM
I guess this is pretty self explanatory... Basically cut off the stock steering arms and glue them to the collars, then use bearings with aluminum shaft to substitute the original plastic tube..
Not like I drive my RC that much to warrant this, but I just thought it would be better to have ballbearings instead of plastic to plastic contact..
It turned out pretty well, I think... when I return the steering back to neutural on the radio, the car would track straight, without the need for more correction, so it is nice...

To buy one you'll have to check ebay or look for the VW Toureag thing. The hardshells ie Pajero, Jeep Wrangler, Honda CRV, Isuzu Mu are all discontinued and ebay will be the place to buy one. The VW and the CRV have the longer wheel base but all chassis can be set up for either with ease.

I run an 80 turn LRP Truck Puller 2 motor. I'm alot slower than my 55 turn buddies XC. I think I should change out the motors. I have so much grunt but there's no momentum so getting up somehills don't work, even at full speed. I get a few hours out with my motor also with a hitec 695 servo. Cut tires help out alot too but the hardshell makes it top heavy. I'm entering into a 1.9 class in July with my Pajero. Wish me luck. It should be tuned a lot more by then.

i am running cut tires aswell, cant beat them once you do it. i like the 55 turn because its not to much torque to break stuff and still leaves enough wheel speed to get around and up tough areas.
good luck

Hi guys !
Just discovered this forum :)
I currently own an XC Isuzu. The only problem I have with it is that when I drive it backwards it makes a rattling noise and the wheels don't spin. When I do it slowly everything goes well.
What would this be ?

You're probably missing one of those little plastic cap things that hold the shafts in place in the transmission and when you forwards the gears hold them selves in place, but going backwards pushes the gears out of place.

That could be it. Found a similar problem in another thread also.
I'll have a look at it tonight.
I'm going to mod this one a little bit for light trial purposes. How would an 560 engine and Tamiya 302BK ESC perform ? Would it be able to drive slow enough with enough torque ? Oil filled shocks wil be mounted.
Any other mods I could do ?

I just have a stock motor in mine, but I have heard alot of people using 55T lathe motors for slower driving and lots more torque.

Luckily I have managed to order one from a smaller store and they were only getting the one and he assured me the tamiya rep told them all what they were getting so should for sure have mine in store on 5th May:)
All i can say is phew! I missed it first time around lol, if i missed it again! I dont know what i wouldve done, well probably would got tamiyas CR01 rock crawler!!

Here in UK these have sold out! , so just ordered from Tower hobbies.
Mine is called back ordered, so does that mean they have already sold the ones they had on pre order?
Or is everyones order status the same ? awaiting back order?

They will ship when it comes in. I believe you cannnot order if all the preorders are sold.

Yeah i guess thats why it said on back order! so there first shipment is most likely sold!
Luckily in end i found one here in UK a small model shop was getting just one in, and I got it on Saturday! looks identical to previous kit even manual, though there is an ammendment sheet for esc, and using the TLU-01 L.E.D's instead of the old bulbs, and it tells you that you need 2 more yellow led's for front two fog lights! and the threaded steering rod that attaches to servo is longer 50mm instead of 34mm or some thing and the servo axle is towards rear of vehicle instead of front i think this will make the angles between linkages nearer 90 degrees, and i think less bump steer to!
Looks well cool just as i was hoping the body is very detailed, though i cant build mine for a week or to as im away from home aaahhhhh!!!:eek:
Thanks
Lee.

Thanks, started it on weekend only got beggining of gear and motor in so not much done but i love how scale the chassis is with way things are mounted etc compared to normal rc chassis!
Silly me here forgot to get pics of this first step lol, i will when i next get back on to it! its going to be a sloooow build, but thats good in a way as it wont be over to quick then. I do find building rc's most enjoyable and can never undestand why you would want it already built!
Thanks

Some pics of the first build steps, some are not very good new cam not used to it yet or not sure how to use it lol, used upclose macro on some and it worked well others not so good lol!
First gear box assembly, front diff, output to rear prop shaft, steering bell cranks, lower and upper arms, drive cups in place.
I have used metal shielded bearings through out, and plan to replace the middle wire steering piece with a turnbuckle if it fits in the space there!
Thats it so far till next time!
Thanks

Almost done with chassis now apart from all electrics and body posts etc.
Got my topcad rims on which i think look great take for ever to bolt on though lol and im using an old set of tires from my chevy s-10 for now they must be around 15years old now lol!
You can see the longer revised steering link from the servo also, im using a futuba S3050 digital servo very fast and precise! for now im going to use stock motor and included esc to.
I love how it moves on the suspension just like the real thing cant wait to run this over some rough terrain!!
Wont get to work on it for a few weeks now as im off on my hols!
Thanks

Hi, I just bought a tamiya Pajero Recently. I broke the front knuckle though. Does anyone know where I can find aluminum knuckles for it?
BTW here is my Pajero. Its one of the original ones that were released awhile back.
