Well the evolution model is the same model with the same parts right? It is just the "team" version. Associated and Losi sell several different versions of the same buggy and truck.

Atcually it's more like a Factory Team model in AE terms. In losi terms you have to put some ugly dude's name on it. It has graphite and all the goodies.

here`s my Ultima, i liked building it, just like building a B3, used the manual to the shocks.. the rest of the car was was built without the manual..
impressive car, the sloop in the front suspension was bad...but easy to fix..

Here`s some pics

Hi.
My little brother needs a slipperclutch 4 his Ultima st ep sports.
After we upgraded it with a LRP ESC and a LRP 17 turn motor
it has burned the two geears after the diff. AHA!!! He needs a slipper I thought! But it is not written any partnumbers 4 a slipper in his manual. So I thought that the parts on the Ultima ep R might fit. Do you know?? Can u give me some partnumbers.

TUCRACEMAN

They should fit. In addition, the old style slipper for the RC-10 will fit also. For some reason, I can't find a part number. I"ll keep looking.

Fast68

I got an RB sitting on my shelf, and I was planning on racing it, how will it keep up with the B4 and the others, what upgrades can I add to make it competitive.
Joe:confused:

RichieRich
11-14-2003, 11:56 AM
I think it will keep up with a B3. A B4 may be a different story.

I would upgrade the bearings. I think the stock bearings are a bit cheap. I would add titanium turnbuckles too.

Fast68
11-14-2003, 08:07 PM
 , Well, in my opinion, I don't see where the turnbuckles has an advantage other than their microscopic weight diffrence, I believe that it comes down to the driver, I think shocks and proper setup and tires, driver ability determines who gets in the front (Flame Suite UP:D ), in the stock class. I'm yet to try my 17 and 13 turn motors to see how it blazes, any gear recomendations?
Joe

RichieRich
11-15-2003, 05:42 PM
Well, yeah, I agree. The reason I suggest replacing the turnbuckles is because I believe that the stock ones don't thread in far enough into the ball cups. So, they seem a little vunerable to me. I replaced mine with turnbuckles that are a little longer and made of titanium. As for gearing, I use the gearing chart from the B3 instruction book as a starting point. It's a little off, but it's close enough.

Sweet, these buggies look so much alike it's hard to tell one from the other, and some parts interchange, uuhmm, I think I'll get a new body and paint it with no Kyosho markings, maybe it will pass for one of the higher end cars:confused:

i plan on getting a ultima buggy but i don't know which one to get. what is the difference between the ultima type R or the ultima RB sports. could you please tell me which one is better and how much more better is it.

chadori rc'er - I would get the Ultima RB Type R. They have been discontinued though. You may still be able to find them if you look hard enough.

The sport version is basically the same car but it does not have bearings, universal shafts or bearings. Plus it has a really ugly body, different wheels and plastic shocks.

One more thing on the Type R.Do they have the best shocks ever made or what?!Kyosho has always made GREAT shocks, but they outdid themselves with the Twin Cap design. It is a shame Kyosho does not seem to get the credit for their engineering that they deserve. One thing that seems to hurt them now,is the fact they are always a year or so behind AE and Losi for some reason. The Type R buggy and gas truck were great cars.I am posting a pic of my Type R gas truck.I really liked it,but no shops around here support it with parts. This year I am running a Losi Drake Edition. It was my first Losi after almost 20 years in RC.I have been a loyal AE and Kyosho racer, but the Drake truck is very nice.Sorry for the ramble,Jeff

Actually, I think it's pearl blue. :D I have more cars to add to the showroom. I just haven't gotten around to doing it. I'm not looking for much right now. I think for my Turbo Optima, I need a body and a LeMans 240S motor.

By the way, the shocks on the Ultima RB are excellent. I would say that they probably are the best shocks out there. My favorite brand is AE, so I love the RC10 series. The reason I got the Ultima RB is because my Turbo Ultima was my first "full-option" buggy. So, I thought it would be interesting to see how far the Kyosho buggies have come.

TUCRACEMAN
03-11-2004, 12:57 PM
I have no doubts that the TC-Pro shocks are the best out there. On the track , the car runs like a dream. I would always have problems with my B3 staying level when going over jumps. This was never a problem with the RB. I used to take it out and run with a Tekin G-12CIII and a B&R Sportsmen Mod and just blow everything else away.
~Dave

aramis
03-11-2004, 01:07 PM
Dave,I still run G12CIIIs in all of my electric stuff. One of the best speedos ever.If you check the specs, they are still up there with the newest of today.Later,Jeff

TUCRACEMAN
03-23-2004, 05:26 AM
Ugh, lucky guy to be able to have multiple G12CIIIs. I used to have a G12 but I fried it with an encounter with a puddle. :( I'm thinking now that I'll be taking the Tekin out of the Ultima and placing it in the Pro-X and then replacing it with a middle of the road LRP. Heck, I can't sleep, it's late...I might as well rebuild the darn thing. I think I'll have to order up some graphite for the car. Is there anyway to install CVDs in the Ultima?
~Dave

RichieRich
03-28-2004, 01:58 PM
Dave - Tekin is making a comeback apparently. Oh, there probably is a way to install CVD's in an Ultima. You'd probably have to put RC10 B3 or B4 rear hubs on the Ultima or something. Then some different bearings and an RC10 CVD set. I wonder how well that would work?

And what that EP stands for?

Lazerfan1
06-18-2004, 12:38 PM
Hey there the EP Stands for Electric power! I have to ask did you get this kit from e-bay? Well as for the motor it all depends on your electronics that you have and if you are going to race or not? Also depending on the lowest wind your speed controll will allow without blowing it! SO if this is your first car I would recomend that you start out witha stock motor such as the Monster stock Junior and that will get you up and running ok! This will bne a good starting point until you figure out your driving skill and your electronics capabilities! Hope that this helped you out this is a really great car and good luck!!! :D

hey :)

i didnt get the kit from e-bay, i got it from store. i have kyosho stock motor (high speed) and i just want to upgrade it to something better so it could go faster. I have to buy also electronic speed controller and ball bearing set.

I dont need the best motor there is, just better than the stock motor.

Its shame that i dont have any friends to race with (they think that this hobby is for kids, well)

Do you have the Ultima RB with the mechanical speed control? If so, you probably want to stay with a stock motor. MSCs can't handle a lot of amps so they tend to break down easier. If you have an ESC, I would try something like a 17 turn speedworks. Those are good for cheap speed.

Can someone help me on the end to end length on the Kyosho twin cap pro shocks? I know Kyosho has 3 version, short, medium, and long. But I kind of looking for 3" and 4" for some of my projects.
Richie, do you have the short in the front and medium on the back on your ultima? By the way, are they smooth compare to shocks like losi or hpi?

Thanks.

RichieRich
06-25-2004, 11:16 AM
Supra66 - I'm not totally sure but I think the shocks are the short version up front and the long version out back. I'll measure them if needed when I get home from work. I think the twin cap shocks are some of the smoothest shocks ever. I would rank them just slightly above Team Associated shocks. I've never used Losi's shocks so I can't compare them. HPIs shocks are very nice too.

I can never get the ESC to work properly with my Ultima RB. It's one of the most frustrating things ever. Can someone recommend a good, simple ESC that comes with n00b-proof instructions? I really want to get my buggy out of the closet, but at this point I'm sure I need new tires/rims and other stuff that needs to be replaced when a buggy sits in the closet for a year.

I need a mentor . . . . like a Big Brother mentor program for RC imbeciles like me, I'm 31 and I can't get a simply buggy to work properly for over 5 minutes at a time.

RichieRich
10-11-2004, 12:45 PM
Myrddin - Hey! I'm 31 too, so I can't be your big brother. Maybe a twin or something. :) Anyways, I use a simple Novak Explorer II in my Ultima. It has one button and really no bells and whistles. Just a simple ESC. Plus, they're only about $50. Also, I'm know RC10 b3 wheels/tires will fit the Ultima. Not sure about the new rc10 B4 stuff. Worse case, you'll have to reuse your Ultima rims but you'll have no problem getting replacement tires.

First - Welcome Home.... Thanks for your service..

Second - Swing by your LHS and bring your buggy. - They might be able to get you one from Kyosho and/or fit another brand to fix her up. I too have seen that all Kyosho RB parts have dried up.

Good luck and I hope you get her fixxed up for some bashing with your boy.
