Has anyone built one?I plan on using copper tubing and solder to "wield" it together. Will this be strong enough?
I have a chassie designed ,the steering and drivetrain have already been designed.
I can't see paying $300 for a rolling chassie and clear body kit.So thats why I'm building my own.Does anyone have any ideas where I can find parts for the dragsters?
Thanks

Or you could go out and buy a BoLINK dragster kit, they are pretty cheap.
I made one for free, more of offraod though.

silver,i was gonna do the same thing but i doubt that the solder would hold..you would have to tack weld it...so i came to the conclusion of just buyin the bolink rail.....for the price you wont have any probs ya knoe?

a lot of guys here built their own electric rails using 2 pieces of either fiberglass or graphie sheet, 2 graphite kite rods, rear pod from the parma Days of Thunder car, pan car rear axle and hubs, and pan car front end of their choice. the 2 plates are for the front suspension and rear pod to bolt to and connected by bolting the kite rods to those. Arrow shafts will work too for this. It's a simple to build dragster that's extremely light and fast.

Mike, you come up with some of the craziest stuff. We'll have to start swapping r/c project ideas one of these days. That off-road dragster looks sweet! How does that thing handle? And how many different cars do you have bolted into that thing?

way cool...I'm surprised you don't need wheelie bars on that thing.

I started on a chassie tonight at work.Thin aluminum that I will cut down to lighten it up with out taking away the strength.I have a bunh of model rocket engines I'm thinking really hard about :D

I built this one. :)
Everything is painted except for the little bitty 1/4" sponsor logos on the bottom edge of the body. The rest were all masked and painted by myself.
I used the pod out of a parma hemi coupe kit. Used black fiberglass for the chassis, the front beam, and the rear upper pod. The battery tray is from a Custom Works sprint car. The wheelie bar was silver soldered together using commercial slot parts. Slot car guys will recognize the parts and technique.

To fast though, and to little traction.

I'm in the design phase of a 5th scale Winston Drag Bike *grin*. I'm designing it on SolidWorks (a 3d CAD). I'll show you guys pictures when I'm finished designing the chassis.

How can I get a motor pod from one of these cars?
Thanks

Very nice Bob.
Finally a realistic looking funny car dragster. I give you 10 Bucks for it. LOL
I've seen Jeeps go before. He has had that for years. It goes over 80mph. No joke.
True story:I wathced Jeep take the first run with his 9 turn. The car was flying,,,, well over 70mph then booooom! It was dusk and he didn't see a large curb on the far end or the parking lot.
He hit it at nearly full speed. A bum sitting on a bench yelled out "Clean up on isle five please". I couldn't help but laugh. Jeep laughed too but it was one of those.... I can't believe I just did that laughs". The car was it pieces. The first time I ever seen a motor break.
Jeep, Do you have pics of the aftermath? Or is that still a sore subject?

I just love to build little race cars. Being as we are digging on drag stuff and you dig a good looking car, thought I'd share some of my drag photos with ya... 1/24 slot draggers though. :) These are all cars I built. The digger I built completely from scratch, along with the Bronco, and the Super Bee. I really enjoy the slot drags because of the level of scratch building involved. The fastest I ever got a funny car on a 55 foot track was a .545@98.89mph Lots of fun.
You never know where inspiration is gonna come from.

This was a good 55mph car in the .900's

This car was fun, a good mid 6 car at about 85mph

super16d digger, best pass 1.024@57mph

handled terrible with a c-can 20 in it. best pass was a 1.200 at about 45mph

Those are all too cool! I used the rear half of a DuraTrax Maximum ST and the front half of an ISHIPLA buggy for my dragster thingy.
I made a 2 foot chassis, may start on it again once I have a good nitro engine to use on it.
