Hi,
I'm looking for a monster truck for christmas. I have around $325 to spend. I've pretty much have narrowed it down to the E-maxx, which I can get for 300 , and the Monster pirate ( RTR combo at ultimate hobbies) for 320. My friend had a T-maxx and I really liked it, except it didn't seem to have enough power, and my other friend has a mugen buggy which I love and is extremly fast and durable though it doesn,t have the travel. I've had gas before and like it and same for electric. I like how if I got the E-maxx you only have to buy battiers ,charger and thats it, while the Monster Pirate requires gas, and glow plugs every week, which add up(I use my r/cs a lot). I'm just wondering what you guys have to say about each truck. I'm on a pretty close budget and wasn't planning on spending much on after market parts. I guess im just torn between travel vs. power. thanx:confused:

If the whole gas engine thing doesn't play into you buying a car, then the E-Maxx is for you. The thing has crazy power, literally. The thing wheelies like there is no tommorow. The E-Maxx is also one of the best electric jumpers R/C has to offer.

The Monster Pirate is more of a big, brute power, bully type truck. It may not take the jumps as well as some cars, but, it has all the power you could ask for!

In other words, if you do not care that electric doesn't make that sound that appeals to so many of us, the E-Maxx is really for you. If you need that sound, you should go with the Monster Pirate.

Trust me go with gas.Ive had both and you dont want to be watching your batteries charge while everyone else is racing! You can get the MP for 299 RTR right now on the internet sales. The truck is very fast and very powerfull. Good luck. Hope you dont buy electric and then regret it.

There are downsides to both. Eelectrics, you have to charge. Nitro, you need to buy new fuel every week, if you drive a good amount everyday, you need to buy new glow plugs, and new piston and sleeves.

Thought you might want to know, Ultimate has raised the combo price to $319 (still a great deal), I ordered mine the day before they raised the price. They also were out of Airtronics Blazer radios and gave me the option of waiting a week or subbing a new version of the Futaba Magnum Sport that they just got in(the guy said they all felt that this is an upgrade from the Blazer). Same servos, glo starter Etc. Mine is supposed to arrive in a few days and I am psyched.

ok, thanks guys. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the monster Pirate, plus I'm sure if I dont like it I can trade it for an E-maxx anyways. - Tom

BMW, I made the mistake of buying wheelie machine they call teh Emaxx. Great power and jumping, but as stated earlier, the charging takes forever! I just ordered the EK4, cuz its insane. I may buy the T-maxx when I have more cash for jumping etc...

Thanks again,
I forgot that charging batteries took about 15 minutes on my stampede using 1500's, and if i got the E-maxx would be running two 3000mah, that would take at least 30 minutes with two chargers! I'll most defently get gas! Thanx:) :D

norally id say MP, but idont know what to say because...this one really boils down to preference of nitro or electric, because boh of the cars can be made to preform exactly the same.....but i think ill say MP just because i hate sitting and wait for 1 battery to change...let alone 2
