I've already broken the engine in. After break in i began to lean the engine out and now when I go to run the truck it has problems startin n when it does get started i have problems with it bogging down. Im using odonell 20%, i decided to set my needles back to break in settings an it ran fine, but when I started to lean the engine out again it started bogging down again. Anybody have any suggestions on how to set the needles so it wont bog down???? I wanna get more power out of it!!!! Please Help ME!!!!!

i would just tune it so it runs good, but you could try a different fuel,or glow plug, hotter or colder one.

it sounds to me like your turning the low end the wrong way when the car boggs most of the time it's due to low end being to rich. so i would try turning the low end the opposite way that you have been. on the other hand i might be wrong so make sure that you check your temp every now and then. if you don't have a temp gun do the spit test. spit on the head of your motor after it is nice and warm (a tank or 2) bring in the truck drop a bit of spit on the head (or water just a few drops) the water should sit there for no longer then 7 seconds the water should also NOT EVAPORATE AWAY SOON AS IT HITS THE MOTOR NOR SHOULD IT SIZZLE AWAY BEFORE 5 SECONDS .

i have just broken in my hyper and have noticed the same "bogging" problem. the hyper didn't seem to have power till i started leaning it out. i am now barely getting 200 degree temps (measured w/ raytec temp gun) in the Chicago 35 degree weather.

I have 2 vehicles w/ the hyper in them. If it is bogging it is too rich. But, if it is falling on it's face when you hit the trottle then it's too lean.

nitrojunkie - can you define "falling on its face"?
also, there are some really good hyper threads on the maxxtraxx boards.

When it's runing rich it boggs (it smokes a lot, and accelarates very slow). When it's runing lean it instantly looses power and almost dies when you hit the throttle and instantley returns to idle the second you let let off the throttle.

I run the hyper 21 in my mp with 20% odonnal. the only time I had trouble tunning it is when I put the cvec pipe on, it needs to be leaned alot. are you turning the brass needle on the side of the carb? this needle should be left flush with the outside of the carb body. You should only be turning the high speed where the fuel nipple is and the black low speed on the slide. I have my high speed at 3.5 and my low at 2.5 out past flush with the stock ofna pipe. good luck
