If they want to compete with the T-Maxx, it better be the same price or close to.

Doctor Doug

The price of the Terra will be similar to the T-Maxx. By the way, this truck is a lot bigger than the T-Maxx :)

Usagi

I have said this before, This truck been in the works before the T-maxx. We got a little info about this truck some time ago. Now its a reality.

Usagi,
Do you mean this terra crusher is even designed before the T-Maxx?
I love it! But can't afford to get one yet...:(

Usagi
12-18-2001, 10:57 PM
we got word here before the t-maxx was out that tamiya was workingon this beast. But details where not much. But it does not matter. This truck is a monster.

Usagi, can you show some sort of verifications for these claims?

StevePond

I just live for the day we can stop taking this so seriously and remember it's a HOBBY and maybe just talk about the merits of THIS truck without getting into a pissing contest....

Steve, we are men, we have to pee, it is in our nature..LOL!!!

Although I am not a fan of tamiya engineering by any stretch, it looks huge and cool.

Hopefully it doenst have the drivetrain problems that the T-maxx has.

I am downloading the vid now. Hope its cool.

Yewa;sure they didn't copy to get in the market with the most successful Rc car of all time. But then again Traxxas wa sworking on the maxx long before it was released. I don't blame them or Kyosho for copying. But I'm afraid its too little too late;everyone is waiting for a .21 maxx. At least it will give the rest of the world truck thatn won't be so high as exported maxx. But it will take years to match the devopment the maxx has undergone.

ProjectTwin
12-22-2001, 09:27 PM
Remember when "The Big 'T'" meant Tamiya, not Traxxas?

:D

Clayton

Also remember the Maxx is not durable enough to withstand impacts of a .21 ... this means more damage and as stated in other threads, there are very few people who run .21's and very few who care to, the membership of these boards dont even come close to touching the masses.. The trucks are designed for ease of use for novices as well ad the experienced.. Speed is not a good thing for newbies.. I think Traxxas is coming up with a Kit version and I also think the Tamiya isnt too late, The Crusher is a 1/8 scale truck.

Mr.man
12-23-2001, 09:08 PM
I downloaded the video and I was'nt to imperssed with it. It didnt go to fast and I dont think It even poped one wheelie(unless it hit a bump). I'd rather get the thnder tiger EK-4 eventhough it more than likely will cost more, atleast it can pop a wheelie at almost any speed.

Guys, have you seen the new price of the TC at tower hobbies? it is now also of the same cost with the T-maxx. Anyone read about the "first look" article of RCCA March issue about the TC, they have some nice words with this truck. Will someone be buying one?

Usagi, not to fear. If it cost $399 in the States, it'll cost $200 here:D There are numerous videos of the Tera Crusher on the net, some right here on this bulletin board. I'm impressed:p

Its gonna be a kit, right? And will it take a .21? If it does I might have to sell my TC3.

Possumbot
01-26-2002, 10:05 PM
The tc is a rtr, and Im not sure about the .21 part, it does come with a .18, and the drive train can probably take it.

4wdmt
01-27-2002, 04:30 AM
Guys, according to the march issue of RCCA, the TR is nearly un-flippable, even at high speed! it has a .18 engine, supple suspension and a seamless shift from 1st to 2nd gear to brake and reverse. I think this truck is great and an engineering breakthrough for the transmission by using 2 channel radio only.

RS4RCER, your lucky to be on the waiting list, give us some feedback and some pics when you get that TR.

USAGI / RCtinkerman, Does Japan have any online hobby shops that i can order if ever the TR is much cheaper there.

[QUOTE]USAGI / RCtinkerman, Does Japan have any online hobby shops that i can order if ever the TR is much cheaper there.

there is a problem with online shops. the charge some of the time 15% more to the shipping outside japan.

I pulled my sources here tink, but there is not price out on the truck yet, maybe around 25,000 or so..

4wdmt
01-30-2002, 05:06 AM
Usagi/Tink, your estimate (25,000) is YEN? can you convert it to dollars? And can you suggest an on-line shop that ship items coming from Japan. Thanks.

Usagi
01-30-2002, 09:40 AM
the problem with exporting is the chage you 10% more at some place. thats why some HK shops charge people more. Some of the time i see some chinese people come in and buy 300,000 yen of 3,000.00 worth of radios kits and other r/c then turn around and sell to usa and european people for 30% to 50% more. its a joke:(

RCtinkerman
01-30-2002, 05:17 PM
25,000 yen is about $192.30 US at the current exchange rate of 131 yen to the dollar.

Usagi
01-30-2002, 10:15 PM
Tink for you since you base all cost on US money, But for us Yen Only people its 25,000 flat. But remeber these people pay the cost of shipping and extra export few some shopss apply to the final cost.

Yeah, but how do you get out of that jibberish that it's for export only. If it is, I'll order it through my LHS, he's a Tamiya dealer. That truck is mine regardless:D

Usagi
02-01-2002, 04:21 AM
If you buy from a japanese shop and having it exported to the usa, they do add on the extra cost. 10% to 20%. If this is right to do or not it what they do here tink. This what we non armed service people have to deal with.

RCtinkerman
02-01-2002, 04:34 AM
Usagi, even if they do it'll still be cheaper. Let's take the TXT for example stateside price $400, cost here 25,000 yen or $192 US. Add 10% or even 20% thats 5000 yen total cost 30,000 yen or $229.00. I'll pay it:D , gladly!

Usagi
02-01-2002, 04:39 AM
don`t forget, we have to pay for postage too. yes in the short run you land up saving maybe 5 to 8 percent at the end..... Thtas if the shop deals with you. And you can just them. Look at what happned to you at futaba.. And the many problems i have had.

RCtinkerman
02-01-2002, 04:50 AM
Usagi, are you talking about shipping and handling charges? That's different. But if I get it through a japanese dealer, I don't have to worry about it. They ship it him in Japan, he hands it to me at his shop:D

RCtinkerman
02-01-2002, 04:53 AM
They just forgot to put the manual back in the box. That was really nothing. If you are having problems dealing with the Japanese postage for a package. we'll talk about it Sunday;)

well this is not always the case. tamiya looks at all mrkets and then decised if it will be liked by most. If not tamiya scarps the ide. they done it before.

fatpat
02-01-2002, 11:59 AM
Well, maybe so, but the TC & WC are obviously meant for the north american market. How popular is the T-Maxx around the world?

RCtinkerman
02-01-2002, 12:08 PM
Which brings us to marketing stradegy. the T-maxx is pretty much known everywhere, which means a market for any good innovative truck will be everywhere. Why limit your market with the trucks they've been putting out lately. Why did they not do the same for the TXT? If they only release it in the states, they're making a big mistake.:(

fatpat
02-01-2002, 12:14 PM
Ya, you are probably right...

here's my crappy Japanese translation:

"For overseas export commodity. Sale and specification in the country are undecided. "

By the way, there is one more prototype WildCrusher pic on my WWW link.

RCtinkerman
02-01-2002, 12:41 PM
Yeah, I checked that out. Actually it would be rather stupid for Tamiya not to sell it here. Kyosho's Mega Force is on the market here and has no competition. I've seen in the shops they are starting to sell Associated products as well. Before, the biggest selling Monster truck here was the USA-1, right now the TXT-1 is probably the biggest or soon going to be with electric hobbyists. I'm just happy to see the competition and reasonable pricing.:)

The only one I've heard has one how is Monstermaxx at unlimited engineering. So far he says itn has its good points and bad points but is a pretty good truck. He says it more in the MP class that T Maxx class but doesn't have near the power of the MP. He thinks the Maxx handles better because its lighter, but the drive train appears strong. I was disappointed they didn't put a .21 in it and does not have a pillowball suspension. Guess they had to make some compromises to get it price range.

ill bet they wont ship till july.
tamiya is killing their own product before it even becomes available, many people will get tired of waiting and just buy something else. i wanted one, but forget it. after all, id like to have a truck before 2004:mad: plus, ill bet the availability of parts will be nonexistant, just like every other tamiya product.
id wait to buy one until tamiya decides to stick with it, because we all know how they change their minds on what they keep making parts for at the drop of a hat.

but i hopethey dont make the same mistakes that they have in the past, cause i would still like a TC.

BIG-J
04-04-2002, 09:48 PM
I think you're being a little hard on Tamiya. My first car was the Fox. I put that car through utter hell and it took 5 years before it broke it's first part!

Regarding your comment of parts availability...look at the Clod for example. I don't know of another RC car/truck that has more aftermarket parts. Yes, most of them are needed because the initial design was so poor. But, the truck has been around since the 80's.

This new TC looks awesome. I have faith in Tamiya.

Regarding wheelies (someone else's post) who would want that as a feature? I sure wouldn't. I want a RC MT that's stable so I won't have to chase after and constantly put it back on 4 wheels.

I think the TXT is a good truck...I wish they would come out with a Nitro version, but oh well.

As they say...you can't rush quality.

Ok, I had a my Japanese friend call Tamiya here and he was told the following:
1. The Terra Crusher will not even be advertised on the Japanese web site until about May 15.
2. The Terra Crusher will hit the Japanese market sometime this summer.

Man was I bummed:(

My question is, why in the world is it taking so long for this truck to come out? It's being advertised like crazy by American hobby shops, web sites and the like. What's going on:confused:
Even the Japanese hobby shops know of it dispite the fact it's not being advertised by Tamiya Japan! It's not good to tease the buyer! I've already bought another company's truck while waiting. What's next? Oh well, I always did want a MP 7.5!!!

Hum thats not true, there been crap loads of rumors saying this but they been wrong. Tamiya from the start going to release it in japan. Tamiya never releases a kit only for america ( or any other contry) but maybe sort of like the 414x. but basically the 414 were all the same car.

Hey guys, all I want is for the truck to be released. There's so much hype and so many target dates have come and gone and to my knowledge the truck still ain't here. Those are the facts! I wonder how many orders the hobby shops have gotten and are holding on to? Some Hobby shops are flat out advertising it and saying nothing about a shipping date. I'm not going to mention any names but, as I write this, I'm looking at a well known RC hobby business's current marketing magazine issue which lists the TC with stock# with no mention of its availablity. fatpat are you referring to the release date or the price? Typically here in Japan at most large hobby shops it has been my experience that the manufacturers retail price is cut in half. So 68,000 yen, would be 34,000 yen and that sounds about right. Tamiya is trying to get the public here to accept RC trucks which can be seen by the popularity of the TXT-1. The TXT-1 was $400 in the states and 27,000 yen here or $208 USD. For 68,000 yen I can buy (2) Kyosho MP 7.5 Buggy's. Personally, I won't pay over 35,000 yen for a Terra Crusher! As for the release date over here, my Japanese friend called Tamiya and was told sometime this summer.

Fat, the reasoning why they are released in the usa in not because they are made for usa market, but for timing factors. Meaning when when buyers are willing to buy Tamiya be missing the a big holiday for selling time, so tamiya pushed back the release date in Japan. I don`t know where the "made for usa market" crap came from but the july release in Japan shows japan rearly if never releases products only for a single market(or country)

got my TC yesterday. Hooray for us common folk. spent 3 hrs goin over it. got a 1/8-1/4 turn on all screws loctited all metal/metal. dang shocks were low on oil had to top off. I love it, impressive size, looks like a rugged design. personally i don't care for the body, i'm a chevy man, that will be the first thing to go. today i'm stuck at work and of course tommorrow is rain all day. but soon she'll spring to life. BEWARE THE TERRA!!!!!!!!!
