I just spoke to Apex models and they said that they are expecting the new 3E for the end of the month so ill fone em next week :D .
Ill prolly whack a pull start on it as the E-Start doesnt sound too good.

05-28-2002, 12:51 PM
BURNOUT give the easy start a chance you only need an everyday cordless drill to start it. i for one will be giving it a chance its got to be better than old fashioned, unreliable pullstarts (yuk).
_Burn0ut_
05-28-2002, 02:30 PM
Ive had an EZ-Start (on t-maxx ect) which is a bit different as a motor starts the engine, it was alright at first but the bearing began to slip which was really annoying, i spose there isnt a bearing really on the e-start, its just the thought of having to carry around a drill when u have hands always attatched to you. Ill give it a go though.
b willis
05-28-2002, 03:09 PM
BURNOUT there is still a one way bearing on the easy start but it will be easy to get at just a matter of taking the exposed back plate off and then steeping the bearing in methylated spirits for an hour or so when the bearing starts to slip. incase your interested the schumacher fusion is due out shortly 1/10 scale 21 engine 3 speed box 85mph (CANT WAIT) details on the schumacher website.

05-28-2002, 03:25 PM
Yeh, the fusion looks pretty kool but im wanting somethin which will run on grass aswell, and there isnt anywhere around where i live wiv a smooth surface,
Ive been looking at the desert storm for quite a while and it seems to be the right choice for me :D

how much in dollars was your guyses cars

_Burn0ut_
06-09-2002, 03:56 PM
On the Schumacher website, it says that in in USD, the single speed is $319.50, the 3 speed in GBP is going to be around £250, change the 250 into USD will be £364. Hope this helps  ,
Word on the street has it that the 3E will be out around the 20th of June.
BTW, how does the 3speed kick in, is it based on RPM?
_Burn0ut_
06-15-2002, 03:55 PM
No reply's  , come on, i though this was a forum for xt-r owners, i see that u cant put stuff like pro-line wheels on the desert storm, u can only use schumacher rims, which are the best lookin ones as i cant see any pics on their website.

I got one :D , looks great and the engine, , one question though, on the fuel tank cap, where the spring gets attatched, it doesnt seem to have the strength to grab onto the other plastic bit if u know what i mean. Should i use super glue to glue it on?

I replaced the tank in mine with one made for the T-Max. The tank the came with the XTR always leaked and this other tank lets you run longer. It hangs over the frame a little but works great.

R u feelin ok? I cant wait to get my 3e runnin, should i reset the needles?
Is there anyone else who have problems with the diff slipping? I just mounted the alloy diff outputs since my old plastic ones melted :) and now I cant get the diff running well (even if i tighten it, it starts slipping after a few runs). Anyone got a good idea of what I can do about it? I don't have to replace the entire diff do I?

hoke. invest in some carbide diffballs 3mm well worth the money and low maintainence part no u2324h. also check your belt and pulleys for wear.

ok where is the Apex website? what is it and how can i get ahold of them?
Hey what do you think? I am getting the Team Losi (Blue)Dirt Spec tires for it and I am painting the body like a dark blue with the stripes the color to match the tires. Cool huh.
Yes back to the rims, could i use the standard proline rims or is the schumacher different?
does any one make a Speed~O~Meter? I would get one from rad rc but they dont sell them any more.
thanx for your great tips!

Nearly done ready for breaking in, however on my throttle linkage, i cannot make it so that i can brake, whenever the throttle goes to neutral, my car is at full brakes, ive tried messing about but cant figure it out. And what lengths should i cut the pipe going to the carb and the one going to the exhaust?

06-26-2002, 03:35 PM
I finally got around to starting it today, man this thing is loud, i saw lots of birds fly away for about a mile  , i must get a bigger tank though, i only got about 4-6mins (well it seemed like that, wasnt goin fast) out of the first ever tank through the engine, i think it was b_willis who said he had the protech tank. ill prolly get this, will i havta drill through the chassis and can i get this tank from Apex?
Even on my first tank, i can see a massive difference over the .15's, and the handling doesnt seem as bad as ppl put it out to be, it was prolly as i was goin slow.

Hi All,
Myself and a friend just purchased an XT-R 3E each last week. Wow are these things are quick. It was a toss up between the XTR and the HPI MT. So far I believe I've made the right choice the XTR may not have the handling of the MT but for shear brute force fun the XTR kicks ass. The first thing I'm going to do is follow some of the good advise I've read on this forum. The bigger fuel tank and exhaust mod seems a must.
I'm also looking for a a bit of advise. In the manual it says to check the diff every 5 runs. So far I have not had any problems but is this a weak link? Is it worth getting in some spares before it breaks. Also my friends 3 gears seem to have a small problem when I spin my gears backwards I get a ratchet sound where as my friends do not although it does appear to be running O.K.
Any advise on spares I should purchase would be greatly appreciated. Nothing worse than getting out there and something breaking in the first 5 minutes.
Chestnut

 Good choice,,, The difference in gears,,, The one that clicks is the old set of gears, no click latest updated set. What happens is the part that clicks strips and then it won't hookup and go. They will replace the old ones if they break. If you don't like down time order the replacement one or say the broke and get a replacement ahead of time. I had to wait, the new parts were backordered.
b willis,
thanks for your help on the other forum. I order my kit today and I am expecting it early next week. The guy I ordered it from said that there is another kit out, the xtr 3e, which comes with the 3 speed tranny, a starter that starts with an electric drill (ive seen those in various magazine, pretty cool) and a wheelie bar. So that's what I got, along with an extra set of wheel & road tires. I guess all that needed now is the bigger gas tank, right? I'm putting in my own radio gear, and so I hope to be up and running by the 4th. Now, I just need to decide whether or not I should keep the new int he box T-Maxx, or sell that sucker on Ebay!
Thanks again for the help!

How many people out there have had trouble with the one way rachtet on the 3 speed box. Lets be honest its a poor idea, it would be better if it had a one way bearing, for the money it should have one.

Nope no trouble here:cool:
Are there any other bodies for it w/ oput alot of trimming? I was thinking of a Dodge Ram for the HPI MT, Would that work ok?
What are the main hop ups for it? What engines and pipe is every one using? I was thinking of putting a Super Nova Rossi .21 or a O S .21
Which one and which pipe?
pugton
06-30-2002, 04:36 AM
The hpi mt bodies will fit with just a bit of extra trimming,At the moment myself and some mates are useing the hpi 200 mil silvarado with venom tyres but you have to cut the arches out more, The next mod i am working on is a 5 cell battery box for the front to try and get some weight over the front wheels, Also waiting for fussion to be released so i can try the header pipe of that to put the exhaust down the side of the truck. Never thought about putting the 21 rossi engine in the truck as in england you can by two thunder tiger engines and still have change for the price of a full blown rossi motor. Also been told, but nevered tried, the shocks of a B3 electric buggy is supposed to work well. :) :)

I have a HPI MT body fitted to mine, i used to use it for my n.sport but i managed to fit it on wiv no probs except the exhaust header was a bit of a pain.
I have finished breaking my 3e in and WOW :D , this thing is mad, i have only hit 2nd gear with fear of hitting the 3rd! Im off down the local carpark l8er to do some highspeed runs, i didnt even bother with the stock tires and i have Pro-line Dirt Hawgs II on the rear and Trx Ribbed front tires, seem to work well.
I had a bit of trouble with the wheelie bar when i skidded rear end into a wall (not much exp wiv wheelies), and the plastic screws snapped, i found a pair of metal ones and seems to do the job much better.
BLK - From ur post it seems like u have a T-MAXX, maxx's r fun for offroading but the 3e screams!

What about a Pirate 10 body?

A lot of bodies can look the same but its the way u paint them which makes the difference, im looking at getting a crowd pleazer body and/or a on-road bodyshell, check out this paintwork done on a n.rustler on a crowd pleazer body, it looks the biz. Get urself a paintmask and some masking tape and your away. I think i have some pics of my bodyshells on my site, goto www.geocities.com/jump2max

Hello,
Ive tried to read most of the posts on this thread (lots of em!:D ) and it is clear that the gas tank needs to be replaced. I have seen two type used; one called a Protech and one called a Mugen. Any Idea if those are available in the US? I have searched a couple of MO places and nothing comes up. Any suitable substitutes? Thanks!

Just spent 160 GBP on my 3e today bringing the total so far to about 560 GBP! Parts bought so far... including purchase alloy wishbones front and rear, T Max tank, adjustable turnbuckles, uprated springs, extra wheels and tyres for on road use, purple anodised nuts all over the place (and some collets), carbide diff balls (not fitted yet)receiver cover.
Several weights of shock oil (still not sure whats best yet though it will be a lot lighter than 70 wt).
Blue Thunder fuel (20%) and glow pug to suit.
Wish list alloy hubs and the courage to get my dremmel out nd tune the bugger (have tuned larger 2 strokes in the past).
What ya recon?

Don't think you can get any fuel via post, for good reason I guess, yeah the body is a 200mm HPI Supra body, just need some long body posts for it now ast I just botched it up for the pictures, it has been lasting well run a gallon thru it on one glo plug so far but am switching glo plugs for new fuel.
Also going to get some carbon fibre sheet from Ripmax for my next shell and layer it up exposed carbon looks great :-)

With the adjustable turnbuckles, can u make the wheels have more traction through toe in?

The toe in out may help slightly with traction but mainly it modifies how the truck handles, toe out will make the turn in quicker, toe in makes it more stable....
Now you can also use the upper turnbuckles front and rear to change the camber angle. If the wheels are in at the top and out at the bottom you will gain traction in a corner but have uneven wear on the tyres. I use a degree or two toe out (more off road) and negative camber the rear wheels only (tops of the wheels in).

Toe in is basically having your front tyres pointing in towards each other toe out is .... yes you guessued it having the wheels pointing out
See if this helps (toe in)
/ \ Front of car
| | Back of car
Toe out
\ / Front of car
| | Back of car
The ammount of toe in and out is measured in degrees and you can get set up **** to help with this, however for off road use it is a bit less critical and you can afford to go a bit further than one or two degrees from straight. I just do mine by eye.

Leaving them straight is fine, but as mentioned earlier you can adjust them when you buy the new parts so why not experiment?
Toe out gives quicker turn in therefore faster steering response, toe in makes the car more stable (better for long straights and sweeping corners):D :D

Little mod that may help, swap the ends of the turnbuckles for front shock bottoms.
The front shock bottoms are rose jointed and screw in, if you use a pan head M3 screw or an Allen bolt and small washer they will stay on and won't be able to pop off. This mod only works with the hop up turnbuckles tho.
You can also mod the shock bottoms on the rear of the car in this way (I had to do this in the field as mine kept popping of, must stop crashing so much).

I now have the upgraded, hard anodised aluminium sliders and anodised aluminium screw caps on mine, and as you can see by my previous picture a selection of springs.
Have bought Venoms but not run them yet, the off road tyres are not all that grippy on tarmac gave too much wheelspin. Only got Venoms on the rear at the moment will try them at lunch today or maybe this evening. Got to stop spending money on this thing! £700 and rising so far in a month!

Well it had to happen, the diff has expired on my Schuie, the bearings heated up melted and broke inside the diff that locked up, snapped the belt which put strain on the output shaft and the bearing on that broke too!
Have taken it all to bits now (all over my kitchen, glad I live alone sometimes!) and will have all the bits tomorrow.
May get round to posting the pics pre accident tonight and maybe some pics of the damage to the drivetrain as well!
Will also get round to sorting out my website, dedicated to the XTR, anyone want to send me any pics for upload then post to shadgrind@thebestpubintown.co.uk.

Nice Pic whose is that cool looking blue XTR? :p
Good tip for the wheelie bar. Take the useless plastic nuts and bolts off before they rattle off and lose your wheelie bar in the long grass  and replace them with tie wraps. Seems to work a treat and when I did have a big tumble the tie wraps snapped instead of busting up the rear bumper.

The site will be growing over the next few weeks and is basically going to be dedicated to the XTR and the 3e. Hope to get all images uploaded within a day of posting to me but be patient if it takes a while longer.

The black and yellow one is great! hey your lucky that your friends are int0o
R\C and especially the XTR, The only people around me are stupid kids who have no idea what they are doing and come to me for answers and to fix their cars:mad:
Then they still think they can wreck me and when theyose they cry about it. I need some people around me that I can bash and race against!!!
I need some new friends:(
The closest track to me is in the city, 3 hours away. The big apple, is not where I would like to race and is too far too travel. I live in the schenectady county area and there is nothing to do here for R\C except go to the old and abandoned bike trax which are now used by druggies for smoking and having fun w/ their female friends if you get the idea. I dont want to go there and catch people doing that!
I need some where to go and people who are into the hobby.I will be going to college in a year so where is a good spot? one that is a peaceful town, and is also close w/ R\C?

You can get around that mate, just swap the wheels front to back, the front wheels dont need to grip the spindles like the back ones do :)

I have just sent an email to Schumacher asking if they have any plans to release any more bodyshells for the XTR. I find this is the only draw back with the XTR only two bodyshells and no 3rd party suppliers.
Has anybody got any ideas on other bodyshells that might fit. I have seen Shadgrinds HPI Cleica shell and that looks great, although it's a bit of a tight fit around the exhaust manifold.

1) (almoust) every body wil fit if you do some cutting
2) The schumacher bodies are also 190 or 200mm so you probably need to do some cutting so the exhaust doesnt hit the body

I recieved the following reply back from Schumacher yesterday:
Thanks for the e-mail.
At this time we have no plans for a new bodyshell to fit the XTR.
Best Regards,
Schumacher.
So it looks like we are on are own when it comes to bodyshells. I think this is a real shame as one of the joys the of radio control hobby is changing the look of your car/truck. I believe Schumacher are missing out on a good sales opertunaty with this.
I have tried various different 3rd party bodyshells but as already stated the exhaust just gets in the way. The only other shell that you can just about get away with is the HPI Celica Supra AKA "The Shadgrind Special". But even then the exhaust manifold rests on the inside of the shell and you have to apply heat resistant metal tape to stop it melting through. Which to be fair is not a bad idea even with the XTR shell.
Oh well Maybe I will just have to cut that hole in the side of a shell. I will let you know how I get on.

Well I contacted schumacher about the problem and he responded quickly w/ this answer:
There will be another body available soon U5063-$21.99. This body has no fender flares. Finding bodies to fit is rather easy.
Any body that is 200mm wide or wider will fit right on the Nitro 21. This means you can use any 200mm sedan bodies (with the wheel wells cut out a ton) and many of the T/E-Maxx bodies. Just bring a ruler to your hobby shop and measure a few bodies you like.

Thanks for all your input guys
I have seen a picture of the Schumacher truck shell and quite honestly it looks horrible. I'm aware that most 200mm shells appear to fit but you will need to cut very large chunks of lexan around the wheel arches and cut a section out of the side for the exhaust manifold. Though I was in APEX models yesterday and they let me try a HPI BAJA Beatle shell that someone had ordered in and it looked great. I think I would only need to cut a slightly bigger wheelarch on the side with the exhaust manifold to get it to fit. Watch this space..

Well for a "truck" body I am thinking of getting a Hummer body (urban) I think a low riding hummer would look cool! I also am thinking of getting the rollbar for it and putting lights on it and making a front bumper that looks like the RPM 1 for the maxx, and mounting lights on there as well! What do you think? It will be black w/ flames and possibly racing slicks or foams for treadz. The bumper and rollbar will be chrome. I want to make a spoiler for it too, and maybe get a long wheelie bar and a fake parachute! I'll make my own little dragster. The wb will be detachable and the parachute will be on the body, then it's time for off road fun and just paved fun w/ out the dragging!

You know what your right! I really want to do it, and all I need to do now is find a way to mount the bumper on, Shouldn't be that hard! also next for the rollbar I can get one from new era, so the lights I can make and I just need the bowls for the propper look. Anny ideas on what I could use. Reminder the lights on the bumper will be smaller so they require a smaller bowl. I am thinking of just using those mini gumball containers(for rings) but I dont know where to get them, I need 8 or 9. Any suggestions would be great! Does radioshack have bright blue, bright white, white, yellow, red lights? The yellow would have to blink! I am trying to make it very scale! When I get it done I may consider putting a Parma Hemi on the front! What kind of markers would right on it? I want to paint flames on ti to match the body, I dont want to paint it so markers may be easier, (permanent Markers may work but where can I get colored ones?)
I want to do another body of a suburu Impreza WRX and get some colored tires. Who makes some besides the Losi Dirt Spec (blue)? Has any one else tried this?
What bodies have you tried lately? What paint job?

wheels and tyres with foam inserts if needed
can you please tell me the product number of the cordless drill?
does the engine come factory tuned to best performance?
how long will delivery take to mainland uk if ordered off schumacher web site web site
and finally does the 21 xtr 3e change gears automatically or will i need an extra channel on my controller to do this manually or do i have to set up the gears in order for them to change automatically or is the factory standard(is the gear change quick and smooth)?

TKGSuperFan and ohyeahbaby
Firstly good choice on car if get them you wont regret it.
I'll try and answer all your questions but some come down to personal preference.
Do you guys run foam tyres
Yes I personally do. They do not come included and they cost 5.00 GBP a pair. It is debatably as to wether you need them for off road use but they are essential for on road use.
The first thing you need to do with the standard tyres that come on the XTR is swap them over fronts to back. The V2 tyres give loads more grip than the pin spikes on the back. If you are going to use the XTR on road then you will need to invest in at least one pair of Venom road tyres for the back. As Shadgrind says "They stick to the road like snot to a blanket".
Lastly on the subject of tyres whatever you decide about tyres they will definatley need to be glued to the wheels. The XTR gives so mch power it just spins the tyre straight of the rims if they are not glued. So you will need to make that decision on the foams and if you are going to run on road I would advise buying another pair of Venoms and wheels to swap over with your offroad tyres when needed.
10% Nitro or 20% Nitro
This is definatly a personal preference thing. I personally run 10% Model Technics but I know others who swear by 20% Blue Thunder. This subject is whole debate in itself.
What Does the Standard XTR package include.
Clear bodyshell and decals that will require painting. The drill bit for the e-start and as stated above a pair of V2 tyres and a pair of spikes.
What is the product code of the cordless drill.
In the UK the part number is G561K this is for 240V drill. which costs 20.00 GBP. I would recomend that you take yourself off to your local DIY store or ARGOS I have seen good cheap cordless drills for as little as 12.00 GBP, that will do the job nicely.
Does the engine come factory tuned to best performance.
No the engine comes from the factory set best for running in the engine. It's very tempting to start your car and give it full throtle from the start but by spending an hour of time you will get much better life and performance from your engine. When you first start your XTR you will need to run the engine in. You do this by running the engine very rich ( more fuel to air ratio) this lubes and loosens up the engine. After you have run at least three tanks of fuel through the engine letting the engine cool down between each run with no more than half throttle you can start to lean off the mixture :). Again I have only glanced over a huge subject regarding tuning but you will find all the basics in the XTR manual and there are many websites and articles devoted to this subject.

Firstly good choice on car if you get them you wont regret it.
I'll try and answer all your questions but some come down to personal preference.
Do you guys run foam tyres
Yes I personally do. They do not come included and they cost 5.00 GBP a pair. It is debatable as to wether you need them for off road use but they are essential for on road use.
Lastly on the subject of tyres. Whatever you decide about tyres they will definatley need to be glued to the wheels.

How long will delivery take from mainland U.K if ordered from Schumacher website.
I have never ordered direct from Schumacher but I hear they are very prompt if you are in the U.K if they have it in stock expect it within a couple of days.
Does the XTR-3e Change gears automatically
Yes the gears do change automatically. They work by using cetrifugal cluthes in the second and third gear. They appear to work very well and are nice and smooth when changing gear. Though I very rarely get it up into third, the XTR is so quick you run out of road / field before it needs third.
I hope this helps

Westie... Good job on the advice!
Hey TKGSuperFan and ohyeahbaby
I dont know if you have seen this yet but as a helpful hint you may want to drill a hole in the chassis right at the end of the stinger and direct the tube down in the hole. This will keep all the schmoo coming out of the pipe off your right wheel and on the ground, this will give you better traction. Also I have a Digital servo for steering so when I go at incredible speeds I can still turn if the wheels ate on the ground. If you can not afford a digi servo i suggest atleast a hight torq servo. they are like $40 USD
Also look into a pair of tires for the dirt such as pro lines dirt hawgs! and for pavement road hawgs or slicks. It's all upon what you like and what you intend on doing.

Also can someone please list a website that i can order (online) pretty basic failsafe devices as im worried of goin out of range (preferably list a site that has a factory in england as i want it to come quick and without large delivery charges)

Cheers to all of you fellow xtr'rs. I have had a 3e for a month or so and have been aching to share the fun i have had making the average touring car run for cover!!!!! I will be sending pics to the xtr site soon and hope to see more xtr's on my side of the pond. I was wondering anyone with the 3 speed has had any problems. I had 2 self destruct and am contemplating a single speed conversion. Any thoughts on a slipper clutch to absorb some of the driveline stress??? Anyway I am just rambling now so I'll be in and out of the forums and would love to be a part of any 3e movement.

The XTR manual does give the correct settings for initial running in of the engine I checked these before starting and they were set correctly. It is always worth double checking the settings as screws can work loose during shipping etc..
Sorry I don't know what the R/C nitro deal G988 includes but for approx 80.00 GBP I doubt it would contain an FM TR/RX. As for a failsafe device the XTR comes standard with a throttle saver if you go out of range it cuts the throttle servo to idle. So far it's worked evertime for me.

You say you have had 2 three speeds self destruct. In what way have they broken? was it a problem with the 1st gear ratchet or 2nd / 3rd gear clutches? I managed to destroy a set of gears when a stone got wedged between the chasis and the gears striping all the gears teeth off. Thankfully a set of replacement gears to rebuild the gearbox is only 10.00 GBP.
It seems that the XTR is becoming ever more popular in the States
the U.S based magazine RC nitro is even featuring a comparison test of powerful 10th scale trucks including the XTR-3e this issue. I'm going to try and set up an overseas subscription, but if anybody in the U.S has read this article I would love to find out how it compared.

I was unable to determine why the first set stopped working. Schumacher usa sent me a new set under warranty:D Then the second set just sheared the teeth off of the pressure plate looking piece. Again another warranty set was shipped to me :D I installed the third set without the spring after a conversation with Paul from shumie. Hopefully this one will hold together. It seems to shift a little sooner w/o the spring and still shifts in the meat of the powerband so we'll see what happens.
I am wondering about fitting a large aluminum front bumper to eliminate the flimsy plastic one. My only problem is retrofitting the body mounts. All ideas are welcome.
P.S. I have found that the clutch bell/gearset combo is great for catching small pebbles.

I am using basic futaba 40Mhz am radio set and I get about 100 metres range in a large open area. The range you get can vary dramatically under different circumstances. If you are running in a built up area or other sources of interference you will get a lot less range also battery strength in your transmitter and reciever can affect range.
I would say it is more important to talk about time spent at full throttle, than distance at full throttle. I have run my XTR at full throttle for several minutes covering to many meters to count, but I run my XTR slightly on the rich side when tuning. This may not deliver the fastest possible acceleration / top speed but it enables you to keep going flat out for longer without burning up your engine. The most important thing is to keep an eye on your engine temperature. After each tank of fuel use the well respected scientific test of spiting on the top of your heatsink. If it evaperates with 15 secs your definatly running to lean and the engine is overheating you need to lean off your air / fuel mixture.
At the end of the day it comes down to how you are using your car if you a racing around a tight circuit where only small bursts of top end and acceleration are required you can afford to run your engine tuned to the max, but if you are running at max throttle around an oval or backwards and forward in a carpark you will need to keep the engine cool with a richer setting.

My Traxxas system which i nicked off my n.sport says 1/4 mile, so if a mile is 1600m, a quarter of that would be 400m which is i dont think is my maximum range, maybe cos i had a bit of the areal broke off. I have only gone WOT for a few seconds, maybe 10 at the most cos its so fast, its outta range in seconds. Im looking at getting the Hi-Tech Lynx 40mhz.
Do u think its worth getting a temp gun?

Top job by Westie there on tha advice front, hope you wern't posting messages on company time!!! ;)
Talking of fuel Westie runs 10pc at the moment but is debating putting 20pc Blue Thunder in his. One thing I will say is 20pc does make the engine SOUND sweet whatever else it does. Anyway as I posted on the Nitrocrazy website i wrecked my digital camera nitro fuel nasty mess!!!
My take on foams is i use them on road but not off road. The foams do not seem to make much difference to the squashiness of the tyres but yes definitley glue on the rears!
Another question was on radio gear basically that is the one thing not supplied with the XTR, it's matter of personal preference and there is plently of info on other forums here.
NEWSFLASH!!! The XTR racers are having a meet on Sunday just after the end of their seasons racing. Link to their site on www.nitrocrazy.com Westie and I are hoping to go too, anyone else up for it? It's near Gatwick airpoirt.
One last thing ont the our cars section of the sit I have now updated my XTR page, not finished yet but has info on all the upgrades so far! can anyone with experience wid this beast (cause i aint got any :( ) please tell me if it is worth me gettin
- a bigger fuel tank?(if it is where can i order it to the uk from online)
- The pro shock absorbers (made by schumacher) over the standard ones.
- a high torque servo for steering
-and finally alloy or additional so called 'speed secret' parts made by schumacher or made by other manufactures but will fit the xtr-3e.
thanks in advance

A bigger fuel tank
Yes for bigger fuel tank....http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/pipexdsl/o/aowp04/T%20Maxx%20Tank%20Mod.jpg
This is a Tmaxx tank which you can purchace from your LHS for approx 12.50 GBP.
The Pro shocks
They are stronger and look nice but you will not see any greater perfornce over the standard Schumacher plastic shocks.
High Torque Servo
I personally have no experience with a high torque servo but I can say that the standard futaba servos that I use seem to be fine. What I will say is that the standard Schumacher servo saver is not up to much!!! The Chalkpit racers have mostly changed it for a Trickbits servo saver 3.50 GBP.
Alloy parts
Yes if you can afford them they are better. Depending on the upgrade. Shadgrind seems to have bought all of them maybe he could comment on the best investments.
By the way nitro crazy site is in the top 20, of the top 100 RC sites. I have just noticed click here (http://www.theprovadas.com/cgibin/autorank/out.cgi?wheels) to see it some new videos on there now and we had a great night tonight with the best racing so far and will have even more video soon

Well not quite all Wesley! YOU have the alloy engine mount and as you say it does look COOL but doesn't help that much with cooling ;)
I have the alloy wishbones which are stronger than plastic never broken one, but have bent one a bit! The turnbucles are worth having, though I have gone one stage further and fitted titanium ones that the LHS had kicking around! Added the alloy pivot blocks too. I do have the alloy shocks as the plastic ones kept coming apart on my XTR.
Bought the spring kit so have a selection of springs to play with (use blue ones at the moment but will probably switch to red).
As I have a Big6 too I noticed that the head is a LOT bigger and would be a good investment. Both Westie and I have tungsten thrust bearings, I also bought tungsten diff balls.
The best mod I found for myself was taking out the (plastic caged) needle roller bearing in the pinion bell (as they kept melting) and replaced them with ball raced bearings (size 8x5x2.5) you need three our LHS charges 1.75 GBP for these so they are cheaper too!
Keep sending in your pics to Nitrocrazy.com (http://www.theprovadas.com/cgibin/autorank/out.cgi?wheels) and check back regularly especially after this weekend as we are going to race meet with the XTRracers and will have some good tarmac action on the site soon!

hi guys,
i'm having some trouble and need your help.
I rebuilt my diff (but when i opened it i saw it was needed) but i did it. So i reinstalled it and went out for a drive and everything went fine till i drove trough half the tank. Suddenly the car stopped but the engine didnt. When i tried to accelerate i heard the engine revving but i was still standing still. So i took a closer look and the big black 61 teeth gear was lying there :s and there was some damage to it (the place were the needle roller holds the gear)
i repaired it and then i thought it was the diff so i rebuilt it but less stiffer. When i went for a drive , everything went fine again, untill the i opened throttle but only de wheels and the diff outputs didnt turn. So i knew i had rebuilt it to soft.
The i rebuilt it again something in between both strenghts and then the samething happened as the first time.
I asked my lhs what the problem could be and he said it is cuz the engine is engaging to fast but i thought it was the diff (but im probably wrong ;)).
So i'd like to know what the problem is and what the solution is??

Hi, roeler - sorry i dont have an solution to ur problem :( ,
Everyone else - I made a jump out of hardboard and scraps of wood, its about 3-4' wide and 4' long, maybe about 2' high, and its curved like ) not like /, if u know what i mean. Well today i took out my repaired 3e and i tried my stock vee-2 tires on the rear and WOW! , on grass they hook up sooooo well. I took it over my newly made jump for the first time at about 10mph and i was amazed to see i got about 10' of air with it, i was so amazed i didnt land properly but all was fine. I just did a whole tank going over the jump at about speeds of 5mph cos i was so scared to go any faster, im goin out with it again in a min and at the end of the day, i will try to hit in 3rd gear  , just to see how high i can get. Well i guess its another call to Apex models again. I will try to post some pics of it ASAP so u can all see it.
Sorry about the long post, had to tell somebody

greetz,
Right we are back :)
I have replaced 2 diffs and the only reason to do this is if yor diff breaks up and bit of plastic are everywhere! My method for diff screw tightening is... winch it right up! If it is too tight you may lose a tiny bit of grip on the circuit but your diff won't melt. If it is loose it will work well for a time then overheat.
I have also used five sets of gears and the reason they go is
needle rollers in the pinion bell are shafted
A stone or other hard item gets wedged in the chassis under the gears
Your engine or diff have moved and the gears don't mesh correctly, they should mesh as close as they can without being tight
The ratchet, plastic and a weak point, which is being thought about now (isn't it Westie?) has worn down in the gear cluster, and you have to buy a whole new set of gears every time this happens!
Loads more info on our site www.NitroCrazy.com (http://www.theprovadas.com/cgibin/autorank/out.cgi?wheels) plus a lot more to come! I never thought it would be so popular, if I did I would have made it better to start with. Keep sending in your pictures and hints! Hi i just thought about it and the problem is not my diff (i re-read the things you said)
the thing is that my engine starts to hard and the plastic is to weak to hold the power so the needle roller in the gear turns around and destroys my gear. What to do about his?
Sorry but i have a hard time explaining this ( i'm a belgian and only 16)

Hey guys hope this works :(
Hey guy's I just got my XTR 3E today for my birthday! :D I am going to paint the body black w/ flames! Shagrind I will send you pics along w/ details (so you can put it on ur site) Hey Guys I have figured out how to attach the bumper for the Project LOW H! also known as Low Ridin Hummer! Who makes 2.2 foam tires? If no one does then who makes 2.2 Racing slicks ?
The project is, if you have not already read this to put a Hummer Urban body (Black with Flames) on the 3E, put a RPM (maxx)bumper on 3E (chrome), Rollbar w/ lights on Hummer(steeling from my Jugg Body, never assembled the body so why not use it) Making custom Wheelie Bar out of aluminum and an airplane wheel, putting light set on front bumper, need to make own light socket and everything:( oh well it's worth it, Put lights in front, along w/ directionals and high beems, lights along bottom on the side below doors, tail lights, brake lights, new spoiler and mount, possibly a parachute, still debating weather I want it, and if I do if i'll make it really work and fully functional (pop out by servo), it would be cool but I dont race. Any mods to be done in the future would be possibly a super nova rossi .21 or a O.S. .21, not sure on which yet. Which 1 do u think? Also what for pipes? I would make my own A Arms and would look into making a turning arms and other fun stuff! I'm gonna try to make this stuff Black, Yellow and Red, to match the body and everything else. What else should I look into making and reinforcing?
Thanx!:D

Hey Desert Storm owners my wife is a proud owner of a Desert Storm XTR and when I purchased this thing I really did not do my homework on this kit. My wife saw this thing in a mag and since I have a Losi triple x nt racer she liked driving it and wanted to get it to going to the track with me.But little did I know this thing is not a jumper I have tried upgrading the shocks with all different kinds of springs and oil and I have yet to make this thing a racer on the dirt if you look at he ad it makes it look like a stadium truck but this is for oval or just the street. I saw that they put out a three speed transmission and thought what the heck and purchased it but no where did it say on their web site it is on road only. so needless to say it is not installed, I am trrying to decide whether to give up on the idea of making this into a dirt racer and make it an onroad truck. If any of you have any ideas on what I can do to it to make it be more stable in the air I would surely appreciate it. I mean this thing is a screamer and I have yet to see anything this fast and it is a blast to toy around with but I would like to take it to the local track and have some fun other than constantly scraping it off the fence. I have gone thru four bodies for this thing because at the speeds it reaches bodies cannot handle roll overs that well. Thanks

Hi guys been so busy racing with the XTRracers on Sunday and at the pit on Saturday been uploading videos to the site (eleven new ones, we are also in the top ten rc sites now!!! Look at www.rcsites.com (http://www.theprovadas.com/cgibin/autorank/rankem.cgi?action=in&id=wheels) and click on the Nitro Crazy link to vote for us.
Been having trouble with the forum done some posts but they didn't work again. Anyone out there fancy racing their XTR at Rockingham Raceway on Oct 10th get in touch either on the email link on our site or via private message here.
I think Westie is hard at work compiling the revised tips page for our site mainly for Schumacher cars (the XTR and The Big 6).
The site itself has been heavily revised, I spent most of the day on it (and I work fast!)
One other thing I will be producing a VCD (playable in most DVD players and all PCs with race action crashes and general stupidity on it soon, Some of the stuff on the site will be on there, it will be edited together nicley and a lot better quality than the downloads.

Hi,
Been Having some trouble with my video server due to the large ammount of traffic hitting it, so I will just say that it is down for repair and upgrade at the moment, will be working by late evening GMT running an Apache webserver. Sorry if you have been trying to download.
Am on the Phone to Schumacher later to see if they have found the problem with my pinion bell that I sent them last week. By the way the needle bearing modification is working really well, gears lasting a lot longer now. Incase the post didn't get through or you missed it you need 8x5x2.5mm bearings instead of the plastic caged needle rollers you need three of them at 1.75 GBP ea so it's cheaper then the 10 GBP for the standard items too :-)

Thksk for the tips( exhaust mod, front to rear wheels, etc) I just ordered 4 Pro Line road hawgs with new chrome rims n foam for running on the street..
I like the truck in the grass but rumour has it that it doesn't fly well and can be fragile. Hence I think once I get the new tires/wheels I will keep it on the pavement.

There is no part number for the replacement but you just put in sealed roler bearing cages 8x5x2.5mm thats 8mm outside 5 inside by 2.5 wide. www.apexmodels.co.uk have them in stock and you need three of them! Must remember to take a pic next time my gearbox is in bits for the site!

Yeah the gearbox can be fragile on grass but just keep the engine adjusted to mesh well with the gears, you have to loosen a few screws underneath and move it (not too loose and it is a lot better, just aim for small resitance when turning the cogs by hand).
On road you tend to break wishbones if you hit stuff, thats all, best to get the upgrade aluminium ones. Pics of those on my site www.nitrocrazy.co.uk or .com (but the .com is slower to update as I have just been working on it.

Just fitted the 3 speed to my EVO version of the XTR (see www.xtrracers.co.uk) and it bogs down the engine when I hit third gear. As there is no adjustment on the gearbox and I'd like it to hang longer in second before changing up I'm going to modify the clutch to see if I can get it to rev higher before changing gear. Will let you know the results. In reply to the guy who has just ordered the proline street tyres for his XTR...........why ??? Get the Schumacher Venom tyres - they are far better than the prolines, we have one car that is running completely bald Venoms and still flies around the track with a full on sideways exit to the bends !!!! If you really want to fly on tarmac check out our chassis conversion at www.xtrracers.co.uk wheelbase extended by 50mm - twin tank conversion and 1/8th scale bodyshells. We'll also be launching the "NAZ-PAK" before christmas which will include a revised 3mm aluminium chassis and Nascar style body - pictures as soon as the prototype is off the mould. We're not a business concern - just enthusiasts who enjoy the buzz of racing these cars.

When you say mod the clutch, you mean the second/third gear clutch inside the three speed moulding (Schumacher call it that I would say cogs). I am sure you know what you are talking about anyway, just thinking of someone else going in and butchering up a standard clutch that's all. The standard clutch is quite good by the way, th racing one not so and it is a BITCH to fit, costs more and is just half a standard clutch split into two bits.
One thing I would say is that should be a good thing to mess around with the 2nd/3rd gear clutch as it is the one part on the gearbox that NEVER wears out, I have loads of em will mod a few myself soon now.

Neil mate,
I'm going to try something I read on a forum a while back. You turn the clutch shoes around so that the leading edge becomes the trailing edge and vice versa.........also considering drilling the shoes to lighten them. I'm talking about the main clutch inside the pinion not the 2nd/3rd gear clutch. What I am trying to achieve is the clutch coming in at a higher rpm so when the engine bogs down it will easily regain its revs. I fitted a brand new clutch with the 3 speed and this could be the problem - i.e; clutch drag - so I'll be experimenting with the old clutch first !!!!
Any ideas you come up with re: the 2nd/3rd gear clutch - let me know.......

Not sure there mate but you could be creating work for yourself, the racing clutch that Schuie do cuts in at higher RPM but once engaged either clutch stays that way until you are back at near idle revs so will have no bearing on the point at which the gears change, I could send you a spare second/third gear clutch if you want?
Recon if you shave a bit off the secon gear part it will be better!

I took a look at one and noticed it didnt have the standard schuie tank that every previous model of theirs came with. i will be phoning up Schuie tomorrow to find out if its larger than the XT-r one (cause i get **** runtimes :( ) and if it got the same fittings as the xt-r one cause dont fancy the idea of fitting a t-max tank with overhang(mind u this fusion tank did have the same boxy shape as the t-maxx tank)

Mantua Models don't have a UK site but there is an Italian version !!!!! They are in Windsor and you can get their number from www.yell.com or similar. Remember though, in order to fit a 1/8th body to an XTR you have to lengthen the wheelbase as we have with our modified chassis's. We are in the process of designing a "nascar style" body which we're planning on marketing along with a revised chassis as our "NAZ-PAK". Won't be available until Christmas though. If you're interested in a chassis contact us through the email links on www.xtrracers.co.uk as we have a batch being produced next week.

Loctite on the screw may help this problem mate yes, but I have never done that to mine and mine has never come loose. I have replaced a fair few sets of gears though. As a genereal rule of thumb check all the screws for tightness often as vibrations make them come loose.
If you call Schumacher and speak to the engineering dept and tell them what happened they may offer to help out with replacement parts. They sorted me out, anyway. Best bet though is to go back to your LHS and tell them what happened.
Best of luck, let us know what happens.

Second gear is quite an early change on the road but third you need at least 100 yards run up for!

Few Questions for the experts ( 21xtr-3e) :
1) Ever have a problem with getting fuel to flow to the engine? ( Could this be a vapour lock ? If so, I guess removing the glow plug and flipping the car over will help? )
2) How do you get the engine to turn off? ( Plug the exhaust, I also heard of stop the flywheel but hard to do with the body on, unless a window cut out I guess )
3) Idle speed - On startup my car doesn't creep foward but if I pick up the back end the wheels are spinning... Normal ? When I run the car fast and then come off the throttle the car still has the revs high and runs on by itself and then cannot be stopped by plugging the exhaust. Only the flywheel thing will work....
Thanks in advance guys....
ohyeahbaby

im not an expert but i think ive got the right answers to your q's:
1)It may be a vapour block but im not sure if that would stop fuel flowing into the engine. Try putting your finger over the end of the exaust and turning over the engine as fuel will flow into the engine easier this way. If that dont work u could take out the glowplug and turnover the engine to get the engine to unflood or take the fuel piping that goes from the exhaust to the tank off the exhaust end and blow down it.
2)I turn my engine off usin the exaust blockin method. U could also try stopping the flywheel, blocking the air filter or pinching the fuel pipe.
3) it is normal for wheels to spin when lifted in air as thier is no load to stop them from doin that. The reason your engine revs higher when u go fast is cause it get hot. i set my idle speed low so when i start it i have to have that little throttle fine settin high on the controller but once warm u can turn it down for quite a low idle speed. once u turn the idle speed down u will find u can stop it easily usin the exaust method (if u still cant check the rubber pipe comin off da exaust is sealin properly onto the exaust otherwise this will hinder stoping the engine)
let us know how it goes.
Also i am interested how many turns out from fully in people have their low and high speed carb setting as im not sure ive got my car runnin on top performance

i get this when my engine is hot and i've let the fuel run out....i hook up a small syringe with a short fat nozzle on it to the exhaust pressure line and give it a little pump...when i see the fuel enter the carb, it always gushes straight back out again with loads of bubbles in it....could this be because it's vapourising due to the heat and expanding as a gas???? damn annoying anyway 'cos it mans i gotta let the car cool unless i remember to fill the tank before it runs out....maybe i need a longer fuel line too.....
the removing the plug and tipping the car over is for hydalock i think....when you've pumped too much fuel in and flooded the crankcase....you gotta take out the plug and tug the pull start to get the fuel out.

Top advice I say, having said that I alway prime my engine by blowing down the exhaust pressure pipe [1] and was going to get a syringe, running a pull start now even though the car came with an easy start so I can't just wind fuel into the engine like I used to.

Yes it will fit. As would any other round opening .21 engine header. CML distribution have several different header pipe configurations available ( in pretty colours as well ). I was thinking of doing this myself with one of the CML headers. I will have to look into which is the cheaper option the CML headers or the Fusion Header.

Another tip i came across concerns the wheelie bar included with the xtr3e. After bending it with a small run in with a curb i removed it and used a vise to angle it up about 30 degrees. This now allows the car to ride wheelies for as long as you have the balls to hold the throttle. The original configuration with the bar straight out just slammed the front end back down in an uncontrollable fashion. I am still in shock at the sheer power and speed of this vehicle as no other car I have ever owned even came close.

Hi guys, sorry I haven't had the time to be more active on this forum but have been burning the midnight oil redesigning the new-look xtrracers site (www.xtrracers.co.uk)
Very pleased to say that Radio Race Car magazine had some nice things to say about the site so I'm feeling a bit like the guy who's new restaurant just got a rave review in a newspaper right now..........
Anyway, whats the best way to clean a K&N filter ? It was correctly oiled when installed but obviously has caught a fair amount of crap nowand I believe could be causing my engine probs so I want to clean and re-oil it. Anyone know what I can use to clean it with?
Regarding the "Fusion" exhaust header - yes it will fit the xtr and allow the fitting of the silencer along the edge of the chassis but you may have to shorten the end to clear the rear tyres - I can't confirm this as I am still awaiting a reply to my e-mail sent to Schumacher asking when the exhaust and "Fusion" fuel tank will be available as parts. On other thing, the pressure nipple will be on the bottom if you use the Fusion header - the Fusion silencer has it pointing upwards - not a major problem though.
Oh, and Carerra .......isn't the point of rose jointing your steering to stop that annoying pop-off of the standard links during a run ? Seems a bit pointless just doing one end ????!!!!!!

I to had the same problems with my K&N filter. I went to every model shop in my area and no one even stocks the filter oil to re-oil them when you have cleaned them. Then Shadgrind being a complete motorbike freak came up with the idea of trying our local motorbike shop. Voila!! for ten pounds I picked up a huge K&N cleaning and reoiling kit that will last me a lifetime. The kit contains a large spray bottle of cleaner with instructions on use and a large tin of spray on K&N red filter oil.
By the way I also read the review of your website in Radio Race Car Magazine. Nice one well done. We have a little bit more to do to our website www.nitrocrazy.com before we can put it up for public scrutiny. Come on shadgrind pull your finger out!!!;) ;)

K&N Cleaning
I got the K&N filter second hand so I did not try it before I had cleaned and re-oiled it. So I don't no if the performence was enhanced by my cleaning efforts, although I believe any restriction on airflow could cause problems. Interestingly though the K&N instructions that came in the cleaning kit states that a small amount of grim and dust on the outside of the filter helps with the filtering!! But this may apply to bigger motorbike filters.
I would love to come up and race with you guys again unfortunatly I will be on holiday that weekend. Still keep that lump of lead handy as it may be useful to chuck at shadgrind if he gets out of hand:p

Guys,
Just received my "Fusion" fuel tanks and exhaust manifold. Apparentley although you can't get a complete "Fusion" for love nor money at the moment, the spares are available. Will be fitting them for this Sunday's meeting and will let you know how things work out. The fuel tank appears to have a far superior rubber cap seal and is a one piece tank as opposed to the two piece standard tank. Downside is that they are smaller at 75ml in capacity but as I am fitting 2 that shouldn't be a problem. Gonna run the standard air filter this weekend as well to see if the K&N is causing the lag.......again, let you know if it improves things.

if it's the fusion tanks your fitting....you may wanna look at the 'fusion pics' thread in the general nitro forum....aparently these tanks are made by associated (i think) and they have a few propbs with pressure...etc....apparently though if you re-locate the pressure nipple this solve the problem....

As no one has answered your question in such a long time i will hazard a guess for ya. I am convinced it would not be the springs (although this may cause it to wheelie a little less) it would stop it from wheelieing or make it spin out. i think your problem is wid the diffs, do the diff test as shown in the manual if it doesnt 'pass' then tighten them and test again. If the car still dont wheelie and spins out i would check to see if the steel diff bearings and the housing is ok, if bearings have gone get some carbide ones, theyre much better

The tuning is explained well in the manual. As for it takin 2 tanks to warm up is pretty much a load of bolox (dont mean to be rude, more, like 30 secs if that), the thing is its not tuned properly (maybe still factory, in that case RICH) and after 2 tanks of continuous runnin it overheats and causes the high revin problem. I think u should screw in your high speed carb settin all the way and bring it out 1 3/4 turns (1 turn being 360 degrees of course not 180 and some people make the mistake of doin) and have the low speed a tiny bit in from flush, your car should now be runnin reasonably lean and therfore quick, i suggest after two tanks u let the engine cool for a few mins then run again, im not sure but i think overheating like that can damage the piston head and barrel. My check is spit on the head and if it boils STOP and let the beast cool down.

If you look at Westie's post on Pg 17 about the fuel tank upgrade the high speed screw is the gold one to the left of the fuel line correct ? Then the low speed would be the one to the right ?

when replacing the diff balls, how much grease do ya need? is it just a bit smeared all around or do ya need great globs of the stuff???
also, has anyone got the ballbearing steering set??? and if so, is it worth getting??
cheers

Definately get the ball bearing steering upgrade......has to be one of the best hop-ups you can get for the XTR (apart from the XTRracers chassis upgrade of course). Apart from making the steering much smoother, it will far outlast the standard steering components. Are you still running a standard servo saver? If so, look towards getting something a bit stronger - you'll really notice the difference.
Oh, and one for TKGSuperFan - you will wreck the engine if you consistently overheat it - if it's running hot unscrew the large needle valve half a turn to richen it up a bit.
Note: worn engines can develop the tendency to only run on over - lean settings and then overheat and stall out. Only cure then is new piston/liner. Take the cylinder head off and check the liner for marks if you suspect this.

A decent coating will be enough too much and you end up with a mess inside your diff housing.
Oh yeah XTR21, should be down on Sunday trying to get a few more going but as usual people seem to be away or busy, maybe I need to get out more!!!
Take a look at my little projekt...

and with body on...

I usually drive in a place with lots of sand hills (don't know the correct english word for it, it's like children's snadpits only bigger...alot bigger) and me and my friend (who has a Kyosho Mad Force) compete in trying to get as high up on the hills as possible, or even jump over the top. This is why I mounted the extra pair of rear wheels since it is really hard to get traction in the loose sand. And of course...it looks cool.

If you look at Westie's post on Pg 17 about the fuel tank upgrade the high speed screw is the gold one to the left of the fuel line correct ? Then the low speed would be the one to the right ?
What is the setting for the idle screw with the spring. ( I guess you answered this already in a previous post about using the control on the tranmitter correct ?)

I drilled two holes in each wheel and took two long screws and bolted on the extra wheel...so...no glue. The pic shows how it's done. This truck has so much power that I can't notice any negative change in performance. Actually the top speed increases slightly due to the bigger tires and of course the traction is much better.

Incase you haven't been following the story at the chalk pit recently we had nine of us up there and 8 were XTRs...
http://www.aowp04.dsl.pipex.com/images/Everyone%20Together.jpg
We have been racing twice a week recently and once or twice at the weekends too. have a look at the site (much updated recently) for more pics www.nitrocrazy.com and click on the vote link as we are number FOUR!!! in the chart now, thanx to some of you lot voting for us I am sure :D :D :D
Hey even Hoke has his pics on our site all the way from Sweden, if you want yours on there send them to DrNitro@nitrocrazy.com.
Also we will soon have an interactive site soon with user s being able to post articles plus all the usual hints and advice by email. Oh yeah latest get you out of trouble by our very own 'Big Mark' if you break a front wishbone you can mod a rear one with just a file to get you out on the track, I have seen this and have the pictures!!! Over the weekend we plan on setting up som jumps for some new action shots with my new digital SLR (awsome camera!!!) I am also fitting a tuned pipe to my XTR as the standard pipe is supposed to be for a 15 engine (yes really) so have a CVec? on order (illegal to race in any class) plus am tuning the carb and crank, don't ask.... there will be a write up on the site soon.
Keep it greasy

ok...heart stopping moment with car today...got some new goodies from apex this morning (tungsten thrust bearing and alloy diff outputs)...put the diff back together and tightened it a bit to see if it helps cure my cars lack of wheelies....ran a few tanks through this morning to try and get car tuned propper....eventually spot on (very hot and sunny in Cornwall at the moment!!).......ripped a very well glued venom of it's rim...re-glued and took car back out after lunch.....BLOODY HELL....this is way faster now....better traction....less wheelspin...pulling lots of wheelies - new wheelie bar now getting some use!!...now the problem starts....burning down slight hill by my house, engine hits sweet spot BIG wheelie - no steering capability!!! car hits high curb at a rather high speed....car rolls about 4 times then cartwheels down the road about 9 times....s**t...this is gonna be expensive....luckily enough only a rear turnbuckle had poped off and a plastic bolt holding the wheelie bar had snapped off....one zip tie later my cars well happy :D :D :D
also i think the fact that i removed the windscreen may of helped...used to have a 1cm diameter hole so i think theres way more air getting to the k&n filter now...used some of the windscreen offcuts to strengthen the body around the windscreen by superglueing them to the underside....

More power, oh yes, apparently as mentioned the pipe on the XTR is a legacy from its days wit a 12 or 15 engine, it is not a 21 pipe. Even if it was the Cvec pipe WILL provide a lot more power.
There really are time when I am flat out and wanting more now, even after lapping everyone at a race I am still now happy. Its not the taking part, its not the winning, it's annihilating EVERYTHING in your path by such a huge margin that they all look stupid that I am after.
If all else fails, Seb (westies brother) has a 90 engine that I have my eye on!!! Now a 90 will put out nine break or so, and will probably destroy my transmission drive shafts and chassis but think of the fun I could have bwahahahahahahah:-)

In da XTR 3e manual it recomends either model technics dynaglow 10/16 or blue thunder 10/16.
This may sound a dumb question but what does 10/16 mean (does it mean between 10 to 16% nitromethane content)
Also what is better the dynaglow or blue thunder (i think its called from memory)

i think the 10 is the nitro content and the 16 is the oil content.....though i'm not certain.....
as for the difference between blue thunder and dynaglow....i thing it's personal preference....from apexmodels a gallon of each costs the same....i use dynaglow and works fine for me.
