yeah its only $100! with everything, but it has something like a four hour charger  its probably worse then some of the new radioshacks!

Well.. at least they look good with proper polycarbonate bodies..:p

I dunno but... i think it can go pretty fast especially because its 2wd...

they better be using 540 turn motor, or it's REALLY a toy!

lol, i think they have some hop-ups and can be repaired, well thats what i read from the hpi site so they aint that bad and i think they do use 540 motors because its a 1/10 scale

have you seen the radio gear, it looks ok for $100 I mean for a real begginer it would be ok just for backyard bashing

I seen these at my LHS, the guys told me that they actually took one out of the box to mess around, the thing broke within a couple minutes, not very durable and not very fast out of the box.

How was the guy driving?

I think this is great for HPI to make a true beginner car. This is for those kids who don't want to spend $150+ on cars, but be a step above Tyco and Nikko and faster.

looks like a cheap tyco.........

its just junk like my first rc car the kyosho alpha 10 rtr, it might be really durable like my friend's radio shack car that we sent 10 feet off the neighbor's skate board ramp.

Okay then .. How about we just destroy any R/c car under $150 and all the RTRs? Without those RTR and cheap kits not as many people would be in this hobby.

They are OK for someones first car to mess around with and to trash but never to be raced. I'm not sure but I don't even think you can change the frequency they run on so they will not be allowed to race. Its a good idea that they use stick packs and 540 motors so there is at least a little bit of potentiol speed wise.

hey do u guys think the dash is faster or those nikko vipers, it is said the viper goes 20mph out of the box, but i dont think u can modify it:rolleyes:

ayk_driver
04-01-2002, 06:22 PM
well if it uses a 540 and a stick pack it wood outrun the nikko for sure cause i doubt they use motors that big anyway.....

o guys i just read thst the dash has a 380 type motor and the site says its top speed is about half the speed of compitition level cars. so what would that translate too?

I just drove one of the things and it is definately a yawner. It goes about 12 MPH if that. The 380 motor is a DOG. I just can't see getting something like this; especially when Traxxas has the Spirit Truck for the same price. At least the Spirit can be upgraded this HPI thing (Dash) is only slightly better than the Nikko and Radio Shack stuff. For kids under 10 I would say it is a good starter to get them interested in RC, but that's about it.

I had one until i killed it the second day I had it. i thought is would be a good car and for 100.00 I thought it was a good deal but the car has a 380 motor it can do doghnuts and fishtails but only goes about 12-14mph with NO hopups just replacment parts. Don't buy the dash i would invest in a TL01 or better not the dash. My car was a good parts car though. But that was it

When is Kent going to come in here and do his little stik about people bashing these cars.................. OMG Its like big brother watching over us. But instead of the goverment its HPI doing the watching over the whole RC world protecting their name HAHAHAHHHAHAHAH.

Glad we could make all the hardcore bashers and racers happy with the Dash, you know we're trying to fit in a .21 engine and 4-speed tranny to speed it up just for you guys, forget the kids that it was designed for! It'll have rubber arms and chassis so it never breaks, and we'll include an inflatable Hara doll to drive it for you so it never ever wrecks. A video, driving tips book and bag of skills will be included in the box as well. I'm sure the price will stay the same too. haha!

Hey don't bash the Dash! someone actually put a 10t in it, which made it fly to 80mph+ would you believe:rolleyes:

the hpi dash is ok for 100 dollars but the top speed is only 10 miles an hour it has a 380 motor i think but if u want a better car that is a touring car go to towerhobbies.com and look for the kyosho purten s2000 it has a top spedd of 15.27 i think and its 4 wheel drive so it has better traction and u kan do better upgrades this one is only 94.99 so that means it is cheaper and better more durable for a begginner

I bought a Dash for my son to drive. It is much faster than the toy store cars I bought him before. Unlike the "toy" cars, this one has held up to his bashing and crashing. The best part is that he can control the car due to a wheel and not a twin stick transmitter. While I only paid $25 on ebay, I would easily drop $100 on it. I don't think there is much else out there that comes with Everything needed to run, that better than this little car. Best part is that my 6 YO can have the same body styles that I run on my Nitro.

If the car is below your abilities, don't buy it. For a beginner is a nice car. Hell, I even drive it once in awhile and enjoy it. Several Dash cars run together would make for a fun spec race on a tight course.

This is the worst car I ever had. It was fun for at least three weeks. Then I had realized it was so slow. It has a 380 motor(Not upgrade able). You could only change the shocks bodies and tires and rims.

It's mostly a beginer's car.

well...I had an HPI dash...and it kinda sucks, even for a beginner car. It's no where near upgradable, you can buy a 200mm body and put on rims at the most!

Well I was using it around my house and I accidently hit it against the curb (not all that hard tho) a few times. The paint on it (since it's RTR) flakes off after a few bumps  . I decided to add a bumper to absorb the impact if it were to happen again. One day my friend n I were bored so we wanted to see how far the dash can reach :D .Well, that wasn't a good idea... after about 50-100 feet or so it just smacked right into the curb going at top speed (or around 11-12mph) lol..I broke some steering thingy, but glued it back. The next day it did the same thing, it smacked right into the curb (it wasn't my driving, it just went craZy) and it stopped moving since!!..lol, I took it to my lhs to see if they can fix it or do something, just so I can have it working to give it to my bro. When they opened it up, it was just a huge chip thingy that looks exactly like a radioshack car :) . They said the only thing that can be wrong it that the chip is fried or somethin....but either way I can only solve it by ordering a new chip from HPI....which I never did because it was a waste of time.

I guess this car is just meant for little kids...

the only reason I bought this car was because it was very cheap... about 150 CDN

here are some pics of my lambo from the dash

Hey guy alot of people down the dash but ive had it for about 1 year now and i do race it and ive beaten alot of cars, i race a pro4 and doged him, My car has a novak brushless in it, and HP servo for steerting pro4 shocks, and thats about it, besides rims and tires. Yes i will agree that in stock form its slow, but you can put in a 540 size motor.

Just got my 3 and a half year old son a Dash for Xmas. He's loving it. He has rammed it into just about everything at top speed and hasn't broken anything...yet.

Got to thinking about putting an ESC in there, but thought all he needs is more speed. I'll be keeping it stock. For $100 it's pretty nice. Nothing I'd buy for me, but it's perfect for my toddler.

Merry Christmas from Germany!
